She is currently a second year student at Advanced Nurturing High School. She was introduced at the beginning of the series as the class representative. She is seated in the back row, next to Kiyotaka Akanokoji, and she is a student of Class 1D.

Despite her academic abilities, she was placed D-Class because of her inability to collaborate with others. She strives to be A-Class and will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal.

Horikita Suzune Appearance

FACTS ABOUT SUZUNE HORIKITA YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW By MadDogAiris

Suzune has long, black hair that is braided in a single braid. She also has gradient red eyes and a pink bow. Her face is always stern. Her slim, but powerful body makes her stand out and attracts the attention of Kakeru Ryuen and Ken Sudo.

She wears the school uniform most of the time. She also wears a sundress with a striped pattern and a sunhat outside of school. A white bikini was seen by her at the pool, as well as a red tracksuit when she took the survival test.

Horikita Suzune Personality

Horikita Suzune Personality

Suzune is an intelligent, serious girl. She rarely shows emotion and seems to be unaffected by most things. This can be seen when she refused to move after being threatened by a boy in Class 1-C. This attitude is what makes her openly honest about many matters. She admitted that she didn’t have friends because she believed friends would drag her down. However, this changed as the series progressed.

Suzune has an antisocial outlook. She doesn’t talk to Kiyotaka Ayanokoji when she meets him, and is not comfortable with anyone who tries to get to know her, such as Kikyo Kushhida. She was not like Kiyotaka, who wanted to make friends at first, but she quickly disregarded him, believing it was a distraction, and she only wanted to be promoted to Class A. Kiyotaka, her brother strongly suggest that her inability to communicate with others and her tendency to focus too much on her goals were the reasons she was placed in Class A.

Horikita Suzune Personality

Suzune is difficult to convince. She refused to accept her Class D placement and set a goal for herself to climb to a higher school, even though it was an unrealistic goal that has never been achieved in the school’s history. Her brother refuted her goal and said that she doesn’t know anything about her character.

She should leave the school. Although she refused to believe that her friends were necessary to support her, she was able to convince Kiyotaka and other students to help her reach her goal. Kiyotaka suggested that she could have been isolated from others, which she quickly dismissed. However, she did briefly consider it as a possibility.

Horikita Suzune Personality

Although she is composed in general, she can feel fearful when she is with her older brother, who also serves as the president of the student council. Suzune is prone to showing a sensitive side when it comes to certain issues.

She admires her brother but feels inferior due to his achievements compared to hers. As seen in Episode 2, Suzune was frightened of him and shook in fear. This was again seen in Episode 5. She was unable to speak during Ken Sudo’s hearing, and was only able snap out of it thanks to Kiyotaka.

Horikita Suzune Personality

Despite her cold and sarcastic attitude, it is clear that she can be caring. She sacrificed 50,000 points in order to save Ken from being kicked out after he failed a test. Suzune claimed that she did it to support her own goals, but the event and her previous efforts to help Ken study show otherwise. Later, Suzune defended Ken’s cause and, while she did criticize Ken, she strongly declared that he was innocent of the incident.

This attitude was displayed in Episode 7, where Suzune smiled after reading the email Kiyotaka had sent her. After spending time together, she began to trust Kiyotaka and made him guard the tent of the boys during the uninhabited islands exam. This was after she stated that Yosuke Hirata wasn’t credible. She also trusts Kiyotaka after she finds out that she is unable to participate in the challenge due to illness.

Horikita Suzune Personality

Suzune seemed to be maturing in character during the last days of the survival test. She came to terms with the hypocrisy she had previously held about Class D when she realized that her actions were similar to those of Class C during the fight against Mio.

She finally admitted she needed to have allies after she was defeated by Mio and captured by Kiyotaka. After the survival test was completed, she thanked Kiyotaka, who had given credit for their victory in the island contest. She displayed rare moments of affection this time. Although she was flustered and shy, she could not look him in the eyes.

Horikita Suzune Background

Horikita Suzune Background

Suzune has been a paragon student since grade school and consistently gets top grades in classes. She was always punctual and on time during her three years in middle school.

She wants to be recognized and acknowledged by her brother (Manabu Horikita), which is what led her to enroll in the same school. She was sorted into the “worst”, which is D. However, she was humiliated and shunned by him, which made her determined to take the highest class, Class-A.

Horikita Suzune Background

Despite this, Suzune is a talented student in academics as well as sports. She’s comparable to those who study in the higher classes. Her Achilles’ heel was her antisocial attitude and belief that others were keeping her back. Her smug attitude of patronizing others has kept her peers away from her. She even harbors disdain for her.

For nine years she was a loner, never realizing the errors of her ways and eventually repenting. This was before she went to high school. There she met some great “acquaintances” as well as “allies”. But she blatantly did not consider any of them to be friends, except one.

Suzune is a gifted individual who excels in both academic and physical areas.

Academic abilities

Academic abilities

Suzune is extremely dedicated to her studies and has nothing else to do. Suzune’s unwavering commitment to Class A is a further proof of this. She believes she should have been in the class from the beginning because she has good grades.

Intellectual Abilities

Intellectual Abilities

Suzune is a very intelligent girl who maintains high grades all through her school career. Sae Chabashira, a student from Class B, revealed that Suzune got the third highest average score in her first year of entrance exams. Honami Ichinose, who is a Class B student, also notes that she is one of few Class D students to watch out for her potential.

Her condescending nature and weakness make her vulnerable to attacks from other classes. She was saved only by Kiyotaka, who intervened many times before she was defeated. She doesn’t believe in the value of building good relationships and does it only to advance her goals.

Intellectual Abilities

She is also analytical, which she shows when she analyzes people by their behavior or fragments of personality to discover their true depths. She discovered that Kiyotaka was instrumental in their passing their exams and that Kikyo Kushida seems to be vehemently against her, despite being ‘friendly’ to everyone.

After hearing Manabu Horikita, their teacher, explain how Kiyotaka’s true talents are hidden, she was able to see the truth. After being defeated repeatedly by him, she admits that her skills in this area are not up to par with his. She also seeks out his wisdom whenever the need arises. She has the maturity to see why Kiyotaka isn’t willing to reveal his true abilities and allows him to use her to protect his achievements to build her reputation in class.

Physical Disabilities

Physical Disabilities

Suzune was questioned at the school pool by Kikyo Kushida. She stated that she is an above-average swimmer. She also claimed she is proficient in martial arts, although the extent of her abilities is not known. She is a master at grappling, as she flipped Haruki Yamauchi without difficulty.

She also demonstrated her fighting skills when she took on Mio Ibuki. Suzune was unable to take her down in the fight due to her ill health. Although she is an accomplished fighter, her fighting skills are not as good as when she was defeated easily by Ichika Amasawa who was tired and injured.

Suzune Horikita-Relationships

Family

Manabu Horikita

Manabu Horikita

Manabu is Suzune’s older brother and also the president of her student council. Suzune looks up and strives for positive attention from him. Her status as D-class student makes her an embarrassment for her older sibling.

She has a lot of resentment for him despite her respect for him. Kiyotaka asked her if they were related, but Suzune’s stare prevented him from further discussing the topic. This could also be due to her inability to answer personal questions about her life, and she may not be resentful towards her brother.

Suzune Horikita

He was extremely cold towards her due to her being in the lowest class. She tried to talk to him nervously, contrary to her calm and serious manner. She said it wasn’t her fault she was in D-class j’y. However, he began to angrily grab her and list all the shame that she had brought to him and his family.

He demanded that she leave the school, while she was being shown to be afraid. This is her first in this series. She tried to explain to him her plans to get to A-class, but he dismissed it as an excuse and attempted assaulting her until Kiyotaka intervened.

Suzune Horikita

After a brief exchange between them, Manabu expressed his surprise at Suzune becoming a friend. He then made fun of her words and left his sister with the advice to move up.

He was present at Ken’s hearing and she was nervous. She couldn’t speak until Kiyotaka tickled it. Manabu didn’t like her strong speech or determination and did not expect much more.

It was revealed that Suzune kept a portrait of her and her brother in her bedroom, despite their difficult relationship. This shows that they were once close. Manabu was present to Suzune’s speech about how D-class will become A-class during the summer outing.

Suzune Horikita

Although they didn’t meet personally, His only reaction to the speech was to glare at Suzune, who replied in the same manner. Although it is not clear what he thinks about her now, this was only the anime.

Suzune told Kiyotaka during the survival island test that one of the main reasons she wanted to be A-class was to have her brother recognize her talents.

D-Class

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji

When entering the school, Kiyotaka met Suzune for the first time. After seeing Kikyo trying unsuccessfully to convince Rokusuke, he first noticed her on the bus.

When she asked him why he was looking at them, he answered that he had seen similarities between them in the bus accident. He told her not to compare them because she doesn’t want to be involved in trivialities like Kiyotaka’s observation that she is “worse” than him. Later, they discover they are classmates. Suzune said it was a terrible coincidence that they had sat next each other.

They seem to be able to get along after a few days of class. Both are introverts who rarely associate with their classmates. Kikyo noticed that Suzune only interacts with Kiyotaka in class. He tried to ask him to make friends with her, but it was unsuccessful. After Suzune accused him of conspiring, he forced Kiyotaka into helping her reach A-class. He was hesitant but complied when she pressured him.

Suzune Horikita

Although she forced him to help her achieve her goal, they seem to be very close. He intervened when her brother threatened to attack her. He noticed the sincerity in her voice and asked her to stop. She watched in amazement as he avoided her brother’s attacks while she was awestruck. Manabu said that he was shocked to find that she had made a friend.

But she simply replied that Kiyotaka was a classmate of mine. Her brother suggested that Kiyotaka might be more than she thinks. She began to ask questions about him, only to get vague answers and call him strange. He said that it was her distant nature that had led her to D-class. This made her think about the matter and whether she is holding back.

Suzune Horikita

She began to notice Kiyotaka’s talents after this event. She immediately recognized that he had helped the class pass their exams rather than Kikyo.

Although she sees him only as a means to get into A-class, she later inquired about his close relationship with Kikyo. She noted that he seemed more likely to help her than any other person. His time with Kikyo was causing her irritation.

While Suzune was unable to speak due to fear of her brother’s presence at the hearing for Ken Ken, Kiyotaka tickled Suzune, and she was able give her case with no problems.

Suzune Horikita

Later, she has him assist her in saving Ken. They are successful in getting C-class to withdraw the complaint using both impressive tactics. After that, Suzune went to speak with Sae Chabashira. He said Kiyotaka had more to it than meets the eye. This made Suzune wonder if she could trust him and the extent of his abilities.

Suzune met him at the hall, and they walked together in the rain. She accused him of manipulating Suzune so that she could force C-class away from their complaint. She then questions him about his motivations for helping her reach A-class. He simply responds because she forced him to.

Suzune Horikita

Kiyotaka replied that he was just looking for friendship and answered further questions about his past. He denied this and she pushed him to tell her his past. He replied by telling her he would help her achieve her goal, but telling her not to inquire about his past. This marked the first time he was aggressive towards her.

They were still on good terms despite the exchange. Kiyotaka invited Suzune to the pool (which she initially refused) and asked her to help him stop the boys from spying on the girls during summer break. Suzune said that she was not interested in anyone who befriended Kiyotaka when the girls were discussing their relationships with him.

Suzune Horikita

Kiyotaka tried to persuade her by inviting her to play with the students. But she was still puzzled about his physical abilities. She helped Kanji escape from the girls’ changing area by giving a speech that distracted everyone.

This allowed her to go in the change rooms alone, and she messed with the plan of the boys, which Kiyotaka had informed her about. After Kiyotaka had pushed her into a pool, she was in good spirits and joined the chorus of others who were there.

Later that night Kiyotaka sent Suzune a photograph of her and the other students via email. She commented on how well she got along with them, but she smiled at the gesture nonetheless.

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji

Suzune asked Kiyotaka questions about his future, but he didn’t answer. The girls made the decision to move Yosuke Hirata to the guard the boys’ camp after the panty-thief incident.

Suzune was fine with it, but she made sure Kiyotaka was chosen to guard the boys as he didn’t seem to be the type to commit any scandalous acts. Although there was some protest from Kiyotaka, the class was supportive of her decision.

After he had finished guarding, Suzune approached him. He asked her why she made Yosuke a guard. Suzune said that she didn’t trust Yosuke because he appeared to be a secretive individual with a different side.

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji

She said the same thing about Kiyotaka, but her reason for making him guard implied that she trusted Kiyotaka. After finding out that she was sick, she blushed and he touched her forehead. Suzune was shocked to discover that Kiyotaka had burned the survival guide, and she began to wonder what he could have done.

He found Suzune unconscious after she had fought with Ibuki, and took her to a tree. She awoke shortly thereafter. She confided in him about her motivation for wanting to achieve A-class. He then implored her not to withdraw from the test. However, she refused to do so out of pride.

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji

She was shocked that the survival test had been won by her class and suspected that he was involved in it. He told her about his plan, how he beat the other classes using different tactics and left her stunned at his intelligence. He had not intended to reach A-class, so she asked him about his motivation. To her dismay, he also gave her credit for correctly guessing the class leaders.

She met him again in the anime and confronted him once more. He calmly stated that she needed allies and she noticed that she had changed. He confirmed that he had done everything possible to help her. She blushed and became flustered before she reluctantly thanked him for his assistance. She showed that she respects him because he helped her overcome her social problems and in completing tasks when she was unable.

Kikyo Kushida

Kikyo Kushida

Kikyo, who is determined to be friends with all people, has attempted to extend her friendship to Suzune. However, Suzune’s indifference in friendship has led to their failure. Kikyo tried to recruit Kiyotaka once because he was the only one Suzune spoke with every day. Kikyo stated that her plan was for Suzune to meet and become friends. However, Suzune rejected the offer and rescheduled.

Suzune didn’t know that Kikyo has a great hatred for her cruel and antisocial ways. This was evident when Kiyotaka saw her throwing a tantrum, cursing Suzune’s name, and then threatening to kill her. She was determined to conceal this information from others, as she threatened Kiyotaka with a slap on the face.

Kikyo Kushida

Suzune seemed to be aware of Kikyo’s contempt for them. She was listing her observations on her classmates and reflected on the look Kikyo gave her once. They are seen talking civilly as they discuss the friendships Kiyotaka made with other girls. It seems that Kikyo thinks Horikita Suzune has feelings for Kiyotaka, but Suzune just shrugged it off. Later, they are seen splashing in the pool together after Suzune and Kiyotaka threw each another in the pool.

Kikyo recognized Suzune’s talents during the survival island test and named her D-Class leader, as it was not expected from other classes. Suzune was astonished by Kikyo’s request and acted on the suggestion.

Ken Sudo

Ken Sudo

Due to Suzune’s tendency to speak her mind and not be afraid to hurt others’ feelings with blunt words, which only provokes Ken’s short temper, the two had a difficult relationship. Soon, she begged Kiyotaka for Ken’s support and he declined. He went to basketball practice instead. Horikita Suzune wasn’t done with him. She personally went down to him and asked him about his athletic career. He was then convinced to study. Suzune’s blunt personality threw him off his feet and he said he wasn’t joining to be insulted. But she didn’t seem to care.

To help everyone, Kikyo gave the old test questions to everyone. Ken was the only one who failed. Ken was to be expelled because he failed the test. However, Suzune and Kiyotaka stopped him from being expelled. Later, the two attended a celebration party in Kiyotaka’s room attended by many of their classmates. Kikyo suggested that Kiyotaka had helped Ken. Everyone stopped their activities to check if it was true, but Kiyotaka gave credit to Suzune. Suzune, who was naive and confused by the suggestion that Kiyotaka helped Ken out, could barely explain to Ken that it was for her own personal benefit.

Ken Sudo

Suzune later assisted him in a case to prove that he was innocent of his charges of attacking three students. Horikita Suzune was initially unable to speak due to the presence of her brother, but Kiyotaka helped her to speak for Ken. To his surprise, she began her speech by criticizing his character.

However, she later stated that he wasn’t at fault for the incident. Ken watched as Suzune used charismatic words to prove that he wasn’t at fault. She pointed out flaws in C-Class’s story and brought in Airi, who had photos of the incident. Suzune said she wouldn’t accept compromises from C-Class and that she wanted to dismiss Ken’s accusations. She sat admiring her talents as she spoke.

Ken told Kiyotaka about the C-Class complaint and he didn’t know he had helped in this act. Kiyotaka congratulated him for this, and when Ken was relieved to discover that Suzune had done something to help him again, Kiyotaka gave her the credit. As Kiyotaka watched, Ken called Suzune incredible for her actions.

Suzune Relationship

After Kiyotaka had Horikita Suzune throw in the pool, they hung out together during summer break. Ken joined the fun, thinking that they were playing a game and began to splash Suzune.

Episode 8 suggests that Ken developed romantic feelings towards Suzune despite their past hostile interactions. This is attributed to his excitement at being told her first name and repeatedly calling it cute. His feelings aside, Suzune isn’t aware of his unrequited love for her. This is due to her inability to pursue a romantic relationship or adventure for personal growth.

Other Classmates

Other Classmates

Horikita Suzune feels insulted by being placed in a school class with all the idiots. She is not friendly or willing to associate with Kiyotaka. Her classmates have a feeling of being distant and cold because she doesn’t try to be friendlier.

Airi also gets along well with her as she helped to stop Ken’s expulsion. She thanked Airi for her help. Although some of her classmates acknowledge her intelligence, many others have tried to make friends with her. However, her inability to accept friendship leads her to keep them apart.

She confronted Mio and admitted her condescending views about the class were wrong. It was revealed that Kiyotaka made it seem like she was the one who won D-class’ victory. This was in order to get others to trust her. She was nervous and confused by the attention of her class as they expressed gratitude to Suzune.

Sae Chabashira

Sae Chabashira

Horikita Suzune was not very friendly with Sae until Suzune offered her help to Kiyotaka in order to stop Ken’s expulsion. Sae found this amusing and agreed to their payment. She said that they had done something no one in D-class history has done. After telling Suzune that she was interested in Suzune, she said she would ascend to A-class because those with defects can overcome them.

After Ken’s fight against C-class, Suzune went to speak with her teacher. Sae had asked Suzune how Horikita Suzune got the other classes to withdraw their statements, but was not given an answer. Instead, Sae told Suzune to better understand Kiyotaka since Suzune wanted information on the “defective traits” of people around her. His was that he hides the abilities. Sae’s words led Suzune to have a conversation with Kiyotaka over his past and the reasons he chose to not draw attention to himself.

B-Class

Honami Ichinose
B-Class Honami Ichinose

Although they have not interacted much, Suzune was impressed with Honami’s leadership style and her ability to bring together the class despite their differences. This is something she failed to do.

However, before that, while they were changing at the pool, Suzune asked Honami about her large chest. The latter was embarrassed to answer. Suzune agreed with Kikyo’s observation that Honami is somehow close to Kiyotaka, despite being in different classes. Honami smiled only anime.

Honami Ichinose

Horikita Suzune, like the others, appears to have studied Honami’s personality and behaviour and described her intelligence, talent, and kindness. This shows that she recognizes her abilities as both a leader as well as a rival. She has been a subject of comparison due to Honami’s popularity and high OAA scores.

After Nagumo deemed them “suited” for his tastes, they were the only students from second year who were admitted to the Student Council. They are now co-workers in many school related proceedings. Both are the leaders of their respective classes. Suzune vows to take over her class at any cost and Honami accepts her challenge.

C-Class

Kakeru Ryuen
Kakeru Ryuen

They had very little interaction at Ken’s hearing. Horikita Suzune was instrumental in stopping Ken from getting expelled. He later saw her give a speech to the pool, recalling her as his girl who stopped him from expulsion.

The school’s cruise ship was where they met up for the first time. Kakeru saw Suzune at the bar, addressed her by her first name, and gave clues that he knows what she did in order to have the complaint dismissed. Suzune was clearly disgusted at his appearance and asked him to stay away. He responded by taking a photo of him and Kiyotaka.

He was seen flirting with Suzune while they were on the deserted islands test. He stated that he would prepare a tent for them both and make her feel real heaven. She looked back at him, probably disgusted, and then freaked out. She then leaves with Kiyotaka and says that staying longer than necessary will make her sicker.

Mio Ibuki
Mio Ibuki

Horikita Suzune was seen disciplining Mio about stealing the keycard and fighting her, but she was easily defeated by her illness, which caused her to defeat her.

Although not much is known about their relationship, Ibuki believes she has some sort of rivalry relationship with Suzune. Suzune disapproves of such a notion because Ibuki is not physically as capable as she, and it makes it seem erroneous to accept Ibuki in her role as a rival.

Suzune is humble enough ask for a temporary alliance to help her get past Ichika Amasawa. Ibuki agrees, as she doesn’t want anyone to take her down. He jokes that the world is now in a flurry after he has reached Kiyotaka.
