Season 2 of “Alchemy Of Souls”: Synopsis
Jang Uk was stabbed to death by Naksu his lover in “Alchemy of Souls”, season 1.. Both of them died untimely. Jang Uk was resurrected by the icestone in his body, but the power and story of his love with Naksu made him a powerful mage of Daeho. Naksu is believed to have died, but Jinyowon rescued her body. Now Naksu lives in Jin Bu Yeon’s real body. However, she doesn’t remember the past. Lady Jin, her master Lee and mother are the only ones who know her secret. To keep it secret, Lady Jin locked Bu Yeon up in an annex. Jang Uk meets a soul-shifter, which is what reveals Bu Yeon’s secret. Bu Yeon and Jang Uk end up again. Jang Uk fakes Bu Yeon’s marriage because he needs her power for the icestone to be retrieved from him. Bu Yeon needs Jang Uk in order to free her prison cell that she has been trapped in for three years.
Jang Uk was given the task of killing soul-shifters by the King. Dang Gu is now Songrim’s leader, and Seo Yul returned to Seoho three years ago. Bu Yeon’s sudden disclosure to the assembly causes a ruckus. Jin Mu is the most concerned, as she knows Naksu’s true face and can recognize her immediately. Bu Yeon is now without her powers and can only regain her memories. She also has Jinyowon’s powers. Soon master Lee informs Seo Yul of the existence of both Naksu’s and Bu Yeons souls in one body. Bu Yeon’s spirit is likely to take control of the body once Naksu has regained her powers. Seo Yul did not want his blood-stained past to repeat itself so he decided that he would get rid of Naksu. He was saved by Bu Yeon, Jang Uk and the crown prince who helped to remove the blood parasite. Jang Uk has fallen in love with Bu Yeon, and Seo Yul allows them to spend some last days together before Naksu leaves her body.
Jin Mu has been trying for a long time to get Jang Uk to rebel against him. This time the crown prince appears to be following Jin Mu in all cases. However, his nonchalant behavior makes it seem like he is plotting something behind Jin Mu. Jin Mu proposes that Jang Uk be sent to a distant fort because he knows Jang Uk was born under the star of the king. This is Jin Mu’s plan to implement his plan to create another icestone. He wants to control Jinyowon and Lady Jin is almost at the end of his rope, but Bu Yeon saves her. Bu Yeon sees the blue mark in the water reflecting in her eyes and regains her memories of Naksu. She is now able to regain her powers and her memories are back. She voluntarily left Jang Uk’s side to avoid hurting him again and returned to Jinyowon.
How Does Jin Mu Come Back To Life?
Jang Uk sees the blue mark in Bu Yuon’s eyes. She confesses to being a soul-shifter, but she won’t reveal her true identity. The crown prince arrives shortly after Jang Uk and the two of them examine the mysterious blue rock that caused Bu Yeon to follow her. Jang Uk realizes it is an icestone that has lost energy and probably belongs to Shaman Choi. Like a soul-shifter, the stone wants to absorb energy from humans. Jang Uk is looking at the stone while Bu Yeon questions how Jang Uk got to Gwido, and why the crown prince is there. Jang Uk reveals that he is working with Jang Uk in order to defeat Jin Mu and his plan to create an ice stone. It may seem absurd to some, but Jin Mu’s actions made the crown prince furious and he decided to kill Jin Mu. Jang Uk had fooled Jin Mu and the king, but he never visited the northern fortress. The crown prince knows the plans of Jin Mu and has entered Jin Mu’s secret organization.
Lady Jin is curious if Naksu will ever leave Bu Yeon’s physical body. Master Lee however has other news for her. Master Lee believes Jin Bu Yeon is Jin Seol Ran. Jin Seol Ran is the most powerful priestess in Jinyowon, and master Seo Gyeong’s lover. Master Seo Gyeong had left the icestone behind to save Seol ran from death. Lee believes that Seol ran’s soul was in the icestone. Lady Jin used the stone for resurrecting her baby and Seol Ran was able to transfer his soul into the baby. Bu Yeon shares a striking resemblance to Seolran, so Lee believes that Seol ran is the one who made it all happen. Every Naksu has had a soul connection to her. Bu Yeon has a similar relationship to Naksu’s crown prince. Bu Yeon tells Naksu that the blue jade belonged to another person when he says so. Bu Yeon tells the prince that he regrets his actions towards Naksu.
Jang Uk will take down all soul-shifters remaining in Daeho at Jin Mu’s secret organization. The crown prince has already penetrated. If they are to carry out their plan, they must return to Gwido and leave Bu Yeon behind. Jang Uk, who recognizes Bu Yeon as Naksu’s real identity, decides to pretend ignorance to avoid the possibility of her being killed. To carry out their plan, he leaves Gwido to go with the prince. Songrim is also available to support Jang Uk on his huge mission. Jang Uk arrives at Cheonbugwan from Gwido and finds the prince already in the secret room. Jang Uk was able to overcome the barrier that surrounds the secret room. He creates clones of himself and kills 78 soul shifters. Jin Mu is sent to Gwido by Jin Mu because Naksu wants revenge on the one who destroyed her life. Jin Mu is greedy and asks Bu Yeon for the ice stones. He lets his greed get the better of him and the empty icestone begins to absorb his energy. His body begins to wither, even though he doesn’t actually die immediately.
Jang Uk is also being accused of Jin Mu’s death. To avoid Songrim’s troubles, he decides to visit the northern fortress. But Bu Yeon reveals to the unanimous assembly that Jin Mu was killed. Bu Yeon is asked to remove Jang Uk’s ice stone. Bu Yeon boldly responds that he still has one soul shifter to kill, and then leaves the assembly. Jang Uk admits that he let go of a soulshifter and promises to return only after he has killed the last soulshifter. The king is worried after hearing about Jin Mu’s passing, while the queen is confused as she sees her dream of soul shifting disappearing. Bu Yeon wanted to remain in Gwido, to wither away, like Jin Mu. But the turtle led her to the plaque she was looking at and she considers it a sign that it is time to return. Seo Yul, who had returned from her trip, meets her for the first time and tells her about Jin Mu’s manipulation of her with the bell potion. She also explains that Naksu did not kill people by her free will. Bu Yeon and Jang Uk don’t think it is an excuse to spare her.
Everyone is relieved that Jin Mu has died as Daeho will be peaceful again. But the queen does a desperate act and gives Jin Mu a second chance. Yun Oh, the queen, goes into Gwido to locate the location of Jin Mu’s soul ejector. It turns out that it was in the queen’s own body. Jin Mu had placed it in her after she had changed her soul with Shaman Choi. However, the queen didn’t remember it. Jin Mu suckers her energy and the queen dies. He then shifts souls with Yun Oh using the soul ejector, leaving his body to wither. One greedy person helped another. Jin Mu was not trustworthy as he used others to get his goals.
How Did Jang Uk And Bu Yeon Prevent The Great Chaos?

Jang Uk had made a promise to each other that they would sit together on top of Danhyanggok’s tallest tree and marry. Although they couldn’t keep their promise back then, they now have another chance to fulfill them before Naksu leaves this world. Master Lee officiates their marriage and they spend time at the top of the tree. Jang Uk and his wife want to spend as much time together as possible. For the first time in three year, Jang Uk smiles like himself. It doesn’t last very long. Jang Uk is shown Jin Bu Yeon, the real Jin Bu Yeon. She predicts the terrible events in Daeho. Master Lee believed that Jin Seol Ran was the one who was born as Bu Yuon, and she is responsible for the chaos. Although she thought she could stop the chaos, she now realizes that she is the cause. None of this would have been possible if she hadn’t kept Naksu alive in her body, and if Jang Uk hadn’t transferred the icestone inside her body. Jang Uk is told by her that she will need to take control of the body in order to defeat the mages who will cause the inevitable great chaos.
Jin Mu returned to the palace to perform soul shifting. It turns out that Jin Mu and the whole assembly of mages conspired to obtain the ice crystal. Jin Mu promises the icestone to the king, while the mages think that everyone will get the same power, but Jin Mu is determined to be the world’s most powerful man. Jin Mu has been manipulating them all and even disinherited the crown prince to make him his heir, because he had betrayed Jin Mu. He is imprisoned after the crown prince’s gold plaque is taken. Jin Mu is now desperate because he is a soul-shifter and can run wild at any time. He convinces the King and the Mages to take the firebird from Jinyowon. By threatening Lady Jin with death, he makes Cho Yeon open Jinyowon’s door. Jin Mu’s violent and frightening behavior is ignored by the mages, who don’t even consider the possibility that they will be the next victims.

Jinyowon begins to collapse after Jin Mu has retrieved the firebird. The dangerous relics begin escaping one at a time. Cho Yeon asks Songrim for assistance while Kim, the maidservant, supports Lady Jin who is trying to prevent the relics escaping. Park Jin arrives at Jinyowon to find that most of the structure has collapsed and it is impossible for him to get in. He can only seal Jinyowon now to prevent any escaped relics. Kim, his lover, is still in the room so he isn’t ready to go. But Kim tells him that he must seal the door himself because he is also responsible for his actions. Jin Mu invites Park Jin, a broken man, to come with him if he needs his lover back. Jin Mu goes with Jin Jin, but instead of joining forces, he fights them. Park Jin fights alone against the eight most powerful Daeho mages, but Jin Mu is the one who takes him down after Jin has defeated all. Songrim is devastated by the loss of Park Jin. Jang Uk returns from Danhyanggok, to find a different Songrim. It has changed overnight. He finds three empty coffins, one for Park Jin, Lady Jin and one for maidservant Kim, as their bodies could not be recovered. Jang Uk believes they are still alive.
Jang Uk believes that an event that can be predicted can also be changed. He decides to be that variable. Although the crown prince was able to escape from prison for a short time, he lost his rights as a prince and is now helpless. Jang Uk has an answer and presents his golden plaque to him. He believes the plaque should be given to someone who will do whatever it takes to protect his kingdom and not to someone like him who isn’t concerned about the world. Jin Mu had been promised royal protection by the king when he woken the firebird. However, the crown prince reverses his promise and dethrones his father because he put the kingdom at risk. Jin Mu begins the process of awakening Cheonbugwan’s firebird earlier than expected when he is informed by Songrim mages that they have attacked Cheonbugwan. The other mages worry that the firebird’s energies might explode if they make an error, but they are surprised by another surprise. Jang Uk breaks through the firebird’s barrier, setting the whole place ablaze. Jin Mu is among the many mages who are set on fire. Jin Mu wanted to be the most powerful man on the planet, but he was not able to do so with his body.
Jang Uk was the variable that stopped Jin Mu from creating the great chaos Bu Yeon had predicted. But he must make sure it doesn’t happen again. Bu Yeon assists him in getting rid of the firebird. Jang Uk awakens the firebird and Bu Yeon sends it to Jang Uk who is waiting in the middle Lake Gyeongchandaeho. Jang Uk first attacks the firebird using his energy. When it starts to weaken, he then gathers the energy from the lake to freeze it. He finally shoots the arrow of energy at the bird and makes it explode. Jang Uk altered Bu Yeon’s future, showing that no one is fixed and that actions can alter the course of events. Jin Bu Yeon, the one who took over Naksu’s body, returned it to her and left. She is able to see the future changing and no longer feels the need to be there to protect her lover’s dream of a peaceful world.
‘Alchemy Of Souls’ Season 2: Ending Explained
Jang Uk stated that Park Jin, Lady Jin and maidservant Kim are still alive. Bu Yeon, who entered Jinyowon via Gwido, saved Kim and her mother. Master Lee sent her to locate the firebird but it was Park Jin that he discovered. Bu Yeon’s soul saved Naksu’s life and allowed it to finally leave the body. Bu Yeon, however, left behind her divine powers in Naksu’s body. Jang Uk and Naksu travel across Daeho a year later to find the escaped relics. Cho Yeon and Dang Gu have given birth to twins, and Park Jin is happily married to maidservant Kim. According to some rumors, the crown prince is now a respected king and has chosen master Lee for his new master. To stop the rumors, everyone wants the crown prince to marry quickly. However, Bu Yeon wants to pick a person who is energetic for him. Bu Yeon also helps Seo Yul to recruit mages. Yul has abandoned the old methods that only elite families allowed mages to enter Jeonjingak. Anyone with strong energy can now apply to be a mage after passing the interview.
Season 2 of “Alchemy of Souls” ended with two lovers coming together to create a fairy tale about a couple who can stand on top of trees and help those in need. They found their way back together like a light and shadow that always belong together. Although the series was short, the final episode was strong enough to justify the tension that had been built throughout. Although there are less action scenes this season, they are all worth the effort. Although the story is a little rushed, the finale war makes up for it. Although this season isn’t as exciting and suspenseful, it continues the story perfectly and leaves no questions unanswered.
Alchemy Of Souls Season 3 Release Date
Now Let’s talk about Alchemy Of Souls Season 3 Release Date.
Potential release date for Alchemy Of Souls season 3: When will it air?
For a total of 20 episodes, the first season (or part thereof) aired between June 18 and August 28 in 2022. Alchemy of Souls was then aired again on December 10, 2022 with a new title Alchemy of Souls Light and Shadow. It ended on January 8, 2023.
New episodes may be available by 2024 if Alchemy of Souls returns with Season 3. A renewal seems unlikely, however. K-dramas don’t outstay their welcome with multiple season, and the story is pretty much over by now, so we will have to wait and watch to see if or not a third season is confirmed.
Season 3 of Alchemy of Souls cast: Who’s there?
The following cast members may be able to return to Alchemy for Souls if the show returns for season 3.
* Lee Jaewook and Jang Uk
* Jung Somin as Mu-deok/Naksu
* Jung Somin as Mu-deok / Naksu after alchemy souls / Jin Buyeon (Mudeok’s birthname)
* Go Younjung as Naksu/ Cho Yeong (realname) / Jin Buyeon (in Part 2)
* Hwang Min-hyun as Seo Yul
* Yoo Insoo and Park Dang-gu
* Arin as Jin Choyeon
New characters are likely to appear, as well as some replacements for the lead roles given the ending of season 2.
Season 3 plot of Alchemy of Souls: What’s the outcome?
Alchemy Of Souls was the heartbreak of Light and Shadow so we were nervous about what part two would bring. The season ended with Jang-uk, Naksu/Cho Yeong, and our other favorites, Jin Cho-yeon and Park Danggu on a positive note.
This is classic Hong Sisters fare in that regard, but what next for the Alchemy of Souls franchise then? A third season seems unlikely considering how the second part ended. However, there is always room for more with a K-drama like this.
Soompi reported that season 2 had the highest ratings, so it’s not surprising that a spinoff is commissioned, rather than a third. It’s possible, however, that the Hong sisters may move on to a different project.
Keep an eye out for this video.
Trailer for Alchemy of Souls season 3. When can I see it?
It’s impossible to predict when new footage will arrive without magical gifts. However, once season three confirmation is received NNTHEBLOG will be available to share all teasers as well as all trailers.
Review Before To Watch Alchemy Of Souls Season 3
Season 2 of Alchemy of Souls is… good. This fantastical drama returns after a disappointing first season. It has a shorter 10 episode story, but it also has its own set problems and pitfalls. While the characters are still their beloved old selves, and there are some memorable moments, this drama doesn’t really have the spark that it needs to shine brightly.
Three years have passed since the events that devastated season 1. Mu-deok, who was possessed by Naksu, is now gone. He has been saved from certain death through mysterious forces. Jang-uk is back, and he’s more badass that ever. He is a hunter for soul-shifters, and almost unstoppable. It’s almost like Neo from The Matrix Reloaded. It’s amazing how many of these characters are narratively similar.
Jang-uk meets Bu-yeon, a long-forgotten Jinyowon princess who’s been held captive by her mother. What follows is an unlikely romance that wraps around a bigger plot to save the Kingdom. It turns out that Bu-yeon is Naksu’s disguised Mu-deok, but she doesn’t remember any.
We get two plots in the same season. Jang-uk, Songrim and Songrim work together to figure out what Jin Mu and his monstrous mages at Cheonbugwan are up to. The plan seems to involve drying the lakes and performing some kind of ritual to carry out their evil plans. Another, Jang-uk meets Bu-yeon and they fall in love. However, the truth is also revealed.
The pace is uneven. Some of this is due to the story which juggles between two plot elements with little urgency. This is until the last few episodes, when everything gets ratcheted up 100 and the story explodes into life.
It’s a mixed bag with the characters. Park-jin, Kim and others are reduced to comedy pieces. Kim is not involved in Songrim’s affairs until the final few episodes. The Crown Prince is involved in a subplot that involves a special turtle, which works well. Yul becomes infected by the blood parasite. This doesn’t work well. Bu-yeon’s personality is the biggest problem here.
While much has been written about Naksu’s transformation, it is clear that the character is completely different. Naksu is no longer the tortured assassin who can hold her own. Naksu, within Bu-yeon’s body, plays the role as a damsel and it feels like a devolution from the character we’ve seen throughout the series.
This season has some strong elements, but I don’t mean to be negative. The special effects and action are as great as ever, and the story about Cheonbugwan is just as charming. The worldbuilding is fascinating and the production design, especially the sets, are fantastic.
It’s just too bad that the story doesn’t stand out this year. This second season is not bad, but it’s also nothing exceptional or extraordinary. It functions well and there are enough twists and turns, especially late in the season, to keep you interested to see where this story ends. It’s not clear if this is enough to make it stand out amongst the plethora of Korean content available on the market at the moment.
My Rating : 14/20
