According to the Pokemon that we saw in the episodes, and the trailers, Ash is likely to defeat Cynthia. However, it will be close. Because anime is different from the games, we can assume that Ash and Cynthia will have a strong bond.
We will approach this comparison differently to other ones. After comparing the Trainers and the Pokemon they used, we will draw a conclusion about who might win the battle. We won’t give you any spoilers as this is an analytical article.
Ash and his Pokemon
Ash Ketchum is the main protagonist of the Pokemon anime. He is also the main character in many manga that are based on the anime. He is a Pallet Town Pokemon Trainer whose goal it is to become a Pokémon Master. After arriving late to Professor Oak’s laboratory, he was given a Pikachu as his starter Pokemon. He’s had many close friends accompany him on his adventures around the Pokemon world. Ash has fought against Cynthia with many Pokemon, but he only caught these.
Sirfetch’d
Farfetch’d is a competitive and passionate Pokemon fighter. However, it can sometimes be brusque or careless in its training and forget its surroundings. He challenges other Pokemon to fight his battles. Sometimes he’s stubborn and hasty in attacking. When he is like that, he doesn’t follow his trainer’s orders.
Farfetch’d is also easily teased, and can forget his surroundings when he gets into a rage. Farfetch’d is often seen skipping his trainer. This Pokemon’s highest goal is to become a Leek Master.
Gengar
Gengar is quite the mischievous Pokemon. He is willing to fight any person who crosses his path. Gengar was initially angry at his trainer’s abandonment and he didn’t trust humans until Ash captured him. He is still mischievous but he has become more playful and makes jokes for fun.
He enjoys scaring Ren, Professor Cerise’s assistant. It is strong and agile in combat and is shown to be curious about its surroundings. Ash is loyal to Ash when he trusts him. He can also be annoyed by people talking about him behind his back especially when they suspect he did something wrong.
Ash Dracovish
Dracovish, a confused Pokemon, is the result of being awake in a world with so many changes. It can get out of control quickly and become aggressive. It is a trustworthy and friendly Pokemon. Ash seems to be Ash’s favorite Pokemon.
Although it can run in deep water, it is very agile and quick. However, when it comes swimming, it is slow and can cause confusion for its trainer. He is not able to control his body well and is not very skilled at jumping. Dracovish seems to be attracted to anything that staggers, and has been known to launch himself against other Pokemon on multiple occasions.
Dragonite
Before its evolution, Dragonite had been a curious Pokemon. He showed interest in other Pokemon, including Ash, Goh and their Pokemon, even when he was alone on an island. Dragonite quickly decided to care for them, mainly by showing them around the island and showing them how it lived. He was a very kind and affectionate person.
Dragonite was, however, a little lonely and felt isolated from his group. It was very sad that she couldn’t fly with her group. Dragonite failed to achieve his goals despite his efforts and constant training with his comrade Dragonite. Dragonite fails to master the various techniques suggested by Ash when he decides to train him. It is still touching that Ash went to such great lengths to help the animal.
Pikachu
He adopts an inept character from the very first episode. Pikachu didn’t like his Trainer and ignored him constantly. When Ash failed to capture a Pidgey for him, he laughed at him. He will eventually trust Ash after the episode ends. Ash has saved him from being attacked by a Spearow horde and treated him at The Pokemon Center. They have been together ever since. Pikachu refuses entry to its Poke Ball, and evolves into Raichu. This is what we saw in Episode 14 when he rejected Ash’s Lightning Stone.
He’ll defeat a Rock/Ground Pokemon with an electric attack over the course of the episodes. He’ll also oppose Mewtwo’s domination and electrify too many young members of Team Rocket. He is also extremely selfless, dedicated, and a skilled fighter. Although he seems to be undemanding of food, some episodes show that Pikachu really loves ketchup. In several episodes, we can see that he is a skilled imitator.
Lucario
Like his fellow scouts, Riolu has the ability to sense others’ auras. He was able to sense the aura of Ash, Pikachu and other Pokemon when they were protecting him from an angry Onix. Since his birth, he has felt a passion for fighting. He goes out looking for battles with different Pokemon, regardless of their strength. He is quite proud, he was initially trying to prove he could stand alone. Ash offered to take him to the Pokemon Center after he had exhausted from fighting.
Riolu proves that he is capable of doing it all on his own in both instances. To show his disdain for Pikachu, he has been known to attack him. As time passed, Riolu became more affectionate with his trainer and began to get along better with Pikachu. He even started to worry about him. His enthusiasm for battles has been shown to make him a little childish.
Cynthia and his Pokemon
Cynthia is a regular character in the Pokemon anime. She is currently the Champion of the Sinnoh and has assisted in many crises, especially those involving Team Galactic or Team Rocket. Cynthia is one of eight top Pokemon Trainers worldwide within the World Coronation Series anime. The six Pokemon she used in battle are:
Togekiss
Togekiss was third Pokemon to be used during the semi-final of the Eight Masters Tournament in EP1212, when it faced Pikachu, but was then traded for Cynthia/Cintia. He is proficient in the moves Air Slash and Zen Headbutt. His talent is Bliss.
Roserade
Roserade is one Sinnoh Champion’s Pokemon. It is her first use in LPA03, when she uses it to fight and tie up Team Galactic to stop them. Roserade appears in EP1212, where she is Cynthia’s second Pokemon during her Eight Masters Tournament fight against Ash Ketchum. Gengar was her first opponent. Roserade attacked he using a Seeder, then Leaf Rain. But luckily for the Sinnoh Champion Gengar lands a Will which burns her Grass Pokemon. To which she replies by switching Pokemon with Spiritomb. Roserade is like all its kind, a strong, determined and eager to fight for their cause.
Gastrodon
It is very powerful, just like Garchomp. It is very precise and controlled in its attacks. Although it is slow, it compensates for this by its offensive and defensive attacks. It can block Team Galactic’s Golbats’ sharp winds with its muddy water or its sharp rock that blocks Aaron’s Beautifly’s sunbeam, and then hit it to defeat it. It appears to be a very calm Pokemon. It’s Cynthia second Pokemon in the anime. Its color is what led to her believing she captured it in western Sinnoh.
Spiritomb
Spiritomb was the original Pokemon to be used during the semi-final of the Eight Masters Tournament in EP1212. It faced Ash’s Dragonite, Gengar and won. However, it ended up drawing against Pikachu with a similar fate. He is familiar with the moves Sucker Punch and Hypnosis as well as Dream Eater, Destiny Bond, and Dream Eater.
Garchomp
Garchomp, Cynthia’s undisputed ace is always there with her at every appearance. She is a formidable opponent on the battlefield and has won every match she has fought. She has been seen defeating high caliber opponents like Lucian’s Bronzong and Aaron’s Drapion. Flint’s Infernape is also a winner, as well as almost all of Pauls Pokemon. Cynthia raised her daughter since she was a Pokemon Egg. Their bond has been strong since childhood.
Milotic
Milotic was the second Pokémon used during the Eight Masters Tournament quarterfinals. It faced Excadrill’s Dragonite and Iris’s Dragonite. Both were defeated with great ease. He lost to Haxorus. It is familiar with the moves Hydro Pump and Captivating Voice.
Ash Vs Cynthia: Conclusion
We now know who will be participating in the battle. This allows us to do a thorough analysis. It’s quite complex. It would all depend on the battle order and tactical approach. Pikachu would defeat Togekiss or Milotic but lose to Gastrodon. Lucario and Sirfetch’d would defeat Gastrodon, but both would lose to Togekiss. Garchomp, Dragonite, Spiritomb, and Gengar would all cancel each other. Roserade could defeat Dracovish. As you can see, it all comes down to the order in which the battle is fought. It would make a huge difference.
The anime, on the other hand is always different. Pikachu was able defeat Pokemon that were actually immune to his attacks. This is not the same as in the anime. From an objective perspective, Cynthia appears to be the superior fighter. Her most powerful Pokemon are more skilled and experienced than Ash’s best Pokemon.
But, it is impossible to deny Ash’s victory. Ash’s anime history shows that he was able defeat many opponents who were no more difficult than him because of the special bond he shares with his Pokemon. We can see Ash winning in this fight. But we will have to wait to see what the anime producers decide.
