04. Kyo Sohma

Fruits Basket is a staple in the Shojo world. It’s one of the most popular titles, along with Sailor Moon or Cardcaptor Sakura. We meet Tohru Honda (an orphan with a heart made of gold), who is incredibly kind and wholesome. She meets the Sohma family where 12 members of her family are cursed with Chinese zodiac spirit animals.

01. Erina Nakiri

This tsundere is a great example of personal growth in many ways. Erina Nakiri is a grand-daughter to Totsuki Academy’s esteemed principal. Her cooking skills and taste sense are unsurpassed. Her oppressive father made her cold.

The icy exterior of Erina melts slowly when she meets the cheerful and optimistic Soma Yukihira. Although Erina initially struggles to stand Soma, she soon learns to trust him as he battles the best chefs in Japan. She becomes his trusted teammate in a Shokugeki (cooking duels) near the end. We are finally seeing the happy girl from her past!
