BMF Season 1 Review & Ending Explained: What’s Happened?
The real story of the Flenory brothers is told in the drama “BMF”. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.) and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory were both just teenagers in Detroit when they started their drug empire.
They would become two of the most prolific drug traffickers in America before being arrested in 2000.
Review Of BMF
Season 1 has seen the brothers grow their business and remove threats. Things are about to explode with the finale of season 1.
The season finale will also celebrate the birth of BMF, or the Black Mafia Family. The Flenory brothers will no longer be called the 50 Boyz. Hornsby hinted at a huge cliffhanger ending the season.
Here are some spoilers for the finale of ‘BMF Season 1’
The BMF Season 1 finale trailer has a lot to offer. We can see that Detective Bryant (Steve Harris) is determined to have Meech arrested in order to relieve the pressure on him after his partner’s suicide. Meech is expected to be brought in to meet Commander Marceline Beckwith (Felisha Terrall).
All of this is not all. There are also issues with B-Mickie, Myles Truitt, and Kato (Ajiona Alexus). B-Mickie discovered that Kato was sabotaging Lamar’s crew and has been working with him. B-Mickie is a vicious character, as the audience has seen. We aren’t sure if Kato will make it out alive.
He said that when you deal with success, opportunity and money, you lose people. You also lose those you love. That’s part and parcel of street life. It doesn’t seem like everything will be wrapped up in a neat bow. It leaves the door open for Season 2.
Monique will be the finalist, but Kash Doll won’t be there.
Starz has not revealed what will happen to Monique in the BMF season finale. However, Starz fans should be aware that Monique’s storyline is over, at least for now. Arkeisha Knight, who plays the role of the mother-paralegal, shared a conversation with The Detroit Free Press. She captioned the photo, revealing that episode 107 was her final one on MMF. The caption she added to the photo was “That was my last episode, u guys!” Thank you for all your love.
Kash Doll has not clarified whether this means Monique will be killed or not, but it does indicate that Lamar was the one who ended Meech’s gun.
On Season 1 Episode 7 previously, Nicole kept quiet to the police regarding the murder of Darius at Meech’s request. Lamar entered Monique’s home to fix his wound, and she was shocked by his presence. The encounter quickly ended in an altercation between Lamar and Monique, which Zoey demanded that he stop!
The media couldn’t be loaded because either the server or network crashed or the format isn’t supported.
Terry and Meech made B-Mickie end their relationship with Kato. Det. Lopez also saved Meech’s two-faced dealer! B-Mickie was out running and he saw Lamar come out of his home. Lamar was talking to Kato, and he wondered why.
In Episode 8 of BMF Season 1, Kato meets Lamar in a quiet area to give him intel about Meech’s reup with his new plug. She assured the crazy goon that his security would be minimal and that she would confirm it before he struck.
B-Mickie was following Lamar but he was quickly intercepted and arrested by police. Bryant was present to supervise his arrest and informed the young kingpin that this was the result of his actions.
Humiliated
Terry pointed out that Kato was also in the middle of their mess while Meech was locked up. B-Mickie defended Terry. Tee asked the question What do they know about Kato. They saw her being taken into custody as well. Meech saw things differently about the lieutenant Meech once detested. She saved him from being taken prisoner by Det. Lopez, and Meech didn’t flee when the police captured the BMF leaders.
Meech had the pleasure of meeting Commander Marceline Beckwith (head of the state drug taskforce) when he was being questioned. Meech loves women and was instantly drawn to her beauty. Beckwith swore at Meech, threatening to take his baby sister back and press charges against his mother for lying regarding Darius’ murder.
The entire BMF crew was released from jail quickly and without any charges. They were thrilled about this. They didn’t have paraphernalia so there was no evidence to arrest them. This scene could become a meme LOL!
Beckwith instructed the team to watch them as they iced their operation. She was not sure which side Bryant was on so she assigned him desk duty.
Ghosted
Meech invited Kato to come along with him and ask her questions about the police questioning. Although she didn’t speak up, she did admit that it was hard to look at the photos of her killed cop. Meech assured her that she wasn’t to worry.
Meech asked her how she got so involved in this lifestyle. As a teenager, she left her mother and moved in with her father. He was a hustler, and he rubbed off on her. He picked up her mind and discovered her father was C. Love. Then he joined the Black Killers (the BKs). He gave her kudos for being a soldier. He received an instant phone call from the brick regarding Lamar’s whereabouts.
To stitch his wound, Lamar went to Alvin (a morgue technician). Lamar needed help from the man. Meech and his crew arrived at Lamar’s funeral home to find him. Alvin was acting strangely towards a dead female body, but Lamar was not there. They searched the area but couldn’t locate him, Lamar had already left in his hearse.
Building A Legacy
Lucille was able to convince Shondalia White, despite Charles’ insults. She went to Terry’s surgery, found Terry’s nurse, and she gave a deposition stating that she had smelled alcohol. Shondalia threatened to make the hospital public, and they offered a settlement of $230K ($150K after fees). Terry was free to accept and sign the settlement. Charles apologizes for his actions to the attorney.
Charles later spoke to Lucille about how he could use the money for his car service company. He was immediately disowned by her, telling her that the settlement money was meant for Terry. Charles countered that he did not deserve the money after the trauma he and his brother caused for their family. It’s hard to believe that they were so honest about their son not having the money, but they did.
Terry, his parents and siblings went to collect the settlement. Terry was shocked by sticker shock. He couldn’t touch it until he turned 18 years old. The trust was established on Terry’s behalf. To touch it, he needed parental consent and court authorization. Charles and Terry fled.
Charles took Lucille & Terry on a ride to show them the car-service business he wanted to purchase. He was able to leave a lasting legacy for his family. Tee was suddenly given a page. He needs to take some time to reflect on it.
The East Side
The crew returned to the meeting spot and considered a new name, “The Mafia Family”. They also discussed the need to raise the money to re-up Big L.
They soon received a visit from Saint, and some other goons. Meech wanted him to be a stepping stone to reach his boss and offer him a better quality cocaine for a lower price. Later, Meech and Terry went to the gambling spot to meet Saint’s boss Boom.
While they briefly spoke business, Meech asked Boom whether he knew C-Love (Kato’s father). He knew the man but he was insane and ran with the Delray Boys, not the BKs. He also said that C-Love was Lamar’s running mate back in those days…
Blood makes you related, loyalty makes you family
Kato visited B-Mickie, and he was planning to kill Lamar. B-Mickie later met Meech, and Meech asked if he had broken up with Kato. Meech asked Meech if he regards her as loyal and if it was possible to trust her with their lives. Meech confirmed that he did.
B-Mickie confessed then that Kato had been previously working with Lamar. Meech said that he knew what he was talking about, and had put it together. He had to verify Terry’s loyalty first. Meech was aware that B-Mickie had told him they had a plan for getting rid of Lamar. But Meech knew he would see the hit coming. He decided to use it as distraction.
Meech visited Terry and was coy about his recent conversations with B-Mickie. We learn about the 50 Boyz disbandment and how the nickname “BMF” was given to them. Terry explains that “BMF” stands for Black Mafia Family. It represents everything we are about Tee. We’re Black. Terry loved it.
Discussion shifted to Meech being invited to the re-up in order to negotiate twice their request. Tee accepted it, despite Big L’s exclusion of Meech.
Double Crossed
Lamar arrived at the meet early and saw B-Mickie. He knew it was a set up. Kato was confronted by Lamar when he arrived at the meet and he pulled her out of club. Meech suddenly appeared, armed with a gun and threatening Lamar. He then put his gun to Kato’s face! Meech said to Lamar, “You think that we care about a rat-b*tch working with you?” B-Mickie also pulled the trigger on Lamar and he also apologized to Kato for his loyalty to the family.
Some bystanders were not present when Lamar pulled his gun on Meech. Meech then shot Lamar! Meech approached him and asked, “Did your brother get shot?” It doesn’t matter, I’m going to watch you die!” (Though he did not shoot again and we didn’t see him expire).
Kato tried to escape, but B-Mickie stopped her at gunpoint. He told her she loved him, and B-Mickie shot Kato in the stomach. He stood above her and said, “I love you too Boo,” and B-Mickie killed Kato. Police arrived on the scene and the shooters fled.
There are no worries
Meech brought B-Mickie home to his parents to drink away the pain as B-Mickie had murdered the first girl he loved. Lucille intervened to save the two of them…
Meech assured his mother that their family won’t need to hide and that they don’t have to worry. Lucille confronts Meech because she knows that he has done something terrible. All her prayers for her dark child have been unanswered. He runs away, and she says, “I don’t know who you are anymore!”
ENDING
The sky is the limit
Terry took Meech to Big L’s re-up meeting. Meech offered to double their business. Big L, her goons and Meech pulled guns on him and warned him to get away or he would be killed. He obeyed her warning. Terry led the meeting and shared their recent increase in territory and business. Big L was open to more business and assured Terry that he would honor their agreement.
Terry met Meech, and he was thrilled that Big L granted them the things they requested. Tee was not excited because he was still worried about Lamar’s plans for them. He didn’t know Meech would take care of Lamar.
King of Detroit
Terry later met with his parents and shared his decision. But LaWanda began to move out of the house with their son. Terry was too slow for LaWanda to make a decision about their future.
B-Mickie experienced flashbacks of Kato’s best and worst moments. Det. Bryant pulled him over. Bryant could not connect him to Lamar’s murder. Bryant threatened B-Mickie to help him pin Meech, or he would kill them!
Terry met Meech and they discussed the new BMF chain. Tee admitted to Meech that his settlement money was not enough to fund the family’s transportation business. Terry wanted to leave a lasting legacy for their family… but he was out! Meech confronted Terry, but Terry was done. He was turning his back on his brother.
We can see 2005, when Meech was still in prison and reflect on his youthful ambitions. Meech wanted to be the King of Detroit, but his path would go beyond Motor City.
Ending? Beyond Lamar’s antics, BMF’s historical connections to Detroit’s late-20th-century organized criminal wave adds another layer to the show’s intrigue. Numerous characters, including Tee’s mentor Pat and B-Mickie, as well as other characters such as Kato (Ajiona Alexus), and White Boy Rick (Eminem), can be traced back to real people. It’s fascinating to see how BMF brings them all to life. The shocking, but hazy events of Season 1 marked a departure from the true-life events that inspired the show. It will be fascinating to see how BMF continues to explore new territory.
