Cobra Kai season 6 release date: When will it return?
There is no confirmation yet of Cobra Kai Season Six… however, there have been conversations with showrunners about continuing this story.
John Hurwitz assured fans in July 2022 that he has plans for the future of the series. He stated simply via Twitter, “All I can tell you is that more Cobra Kai will be coming and that the Miyagiverse remains far from over.”
We will let you know if there are any announcements.
HAS COBRA KAI BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 6
Netflix has yet to officially renew Cobra Kai for another series, but that’s nothing to be concerned about. We are 99.9% certain that the show will return for another season based on its popularity and the events of the finale.
WHAT TIME WILL COBRA KAI SEASON 6 BE AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX
It has been hard to predict the Cobra Kai date in the past. Although the first two seasons were fairly regular, Netflix’s move to YouTube resulted in a significant delay.
- Season 1 Release Date May 2, 2018,
- Season 2 Release Date April 24, 2019,
- Season 3 Release Date January 1, 2021
- Season 4 Release Date December 31, 2021
- Season 5 Release Date September 9, 2022
We have not been given any official information, but we believe Cobra Kai season 6 will arrive on Netflix in the mid-to-late 2020s. Our best guess is September 2023. This story will be updated by Decider as soon as new information becomes available.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Cast: Who will it feature?
Cobra Kai wouldn’t be complete without our two leaders – William Zabka, Johnny Lawrence, and Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso).
These two men would not be complete without Amanda (Courtney Henggeler), and Carmen (played now by Vanessa Rubio).
You can also add to that fellow Karate Kid returnees Yuji Okumoto, Chozen, and Martin Kove (John Kreese). Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver), may not be the last, but he is a fighter and has nothing to lose.
There are also the children: Primarily Xolo Maridueña (Miguel), Tanner Buchanan, Robby, Tory (Peyton List), Mary Mouser (Sam), Jacob Bertrand [Eli/Hawk] and Gianni DeCenzo (“Demetri”).
Now, rudderless and without their sensei behind them, there are still questions hanging over several prominent Cobra Kai members, most notably Dallas Dupree Young (Kenny), and Oona O’Brien (Devon), a powerful newcomer.
The gang of Cobra Kai senseis also have their own grudges to settle. Sensei Kim Da-Eun, played by Alicia Hannah Kim, is on a mission. She wants to fulfill a promise to her dad to win the Sekai Taikai Tournament. It’s likely that she won’t be too pleased with Silver’s behavior. We wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t. we have:
- Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso
- William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence
- Martin Kove as John Kreese
- Yuji Don Okumoto as Chozen Toguchi
- Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz
- Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso
- Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso
- Griffin Santopietro as Anthony LaRusso
- Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene
- Jacob Bertrand portrays Eli ‘Hawk’ Moskowitz
- Peyton List as Tory Schwarber
- Gianni DeCenzo as Demetri Alexopoulos
- Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny
- Vanessa Rubio as Carmen Diaz
- Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver
- Paul Walter Hauser as Stingray
The rest of it is a mystery. We’ll tell you more when we hear from you.
Cobra Kai Season 6: What’s the plot?
It’s evident that the show won’t be the Cobra Kai we love and know when it returns. For starters, there’s no rivalry between the dojos.
Silver’s misdeeds finally caught up to him in the series five finale. After being exposed for cheating at All-Valley tournaments, his cruel nature was finally revealed and he was eventually thrown out by his students.
They are still trying to figure out what they should do. They are still deciding if they want to join Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang, or whatever else they choose. Do they quit karate?
Kenny, who was a sweet-natured nerd but became a cold-hearted bully after Silver’s teachings, will likely feel this most.
We’re also keeping our fingers crossed for Chozen, our new favorite after he drunk-dialed Kumiko in Okinawa to share his true feelings for her. (We’ve all been there. This guy, who is now recovering from near-lethal injuries, deserves the biggest hug.
Two major threads are hanging this season: Kreese’s plans to retaliate after escaping prison and running, and the Sekai Taikai International Championships.
Johnny and Daniel both lied about getting Kreese a lawyer while in prison. This likely won’t go down well with him. He’s likely to seek revenge on Silver, which he could have done if he waited a few more days. He clearly feels guilty about Tory, and dragging him into his scheme. But he only dropped her when he felt like losing.
The Sekai Taikai is a prestigious championship in karate. If the group sticks together for long enough, they will be able to share their teachings (and Mr Miyagi’s knowledge) with everyone in the world.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Crew – Who are the Creatives Behind The Scenes?

The series was based upon the creations Robert Mark Kamen. It was produced for television by Hayden Schlossberg.
Schlossberg could continue to write for the series alongside Josh Heald, and Jon Hurwitz. Ralph Macchio, Dougie Cash and Susan Ekins could be the executive producers. Jon Hurwitz will also serve as executive producers.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Trailer: Are there any new footage?

Cobra Kai Seasons 1-5 are now available on Netflix.
Netflix premiered Cobra Kai Season 5 on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 12:00 PT / 3:00 AM ET. We have some thoughts about season 5 – besides that.
WARNING! This section contains major spoilers about Cobra Kai Season 5 Continue reading at your own peril…
In Season 5, Terry Silver is the main antagonist. It has seemed for the past few seasons that the series has been setting him up as its greatest villain. He was the one to beat with John Kreese locked up and Silver trying to take Cobra Kai global. Kreese was in prison for a crime that he didn’t commit and apparently trying to get out of jail. Season 5’s finale turns both those stories on their heads.
His students take Silver down and throw him out. His students expose him as a cheater and a liar. Although Cobra Kai was accepted into an international tournament of karate, it doesn’t appear like Silver will reap the benefits. Kreese is, however, coming back even worse than before.
In the final minutes of season 2, Kreese revealed that his redemption story in prison was a plot. He was actually planning an escape. Last seen leaving prison, he seems to be seeking revenge on Silver and attempting to reclaim his dojo. Miyagi-Do will again face Eagle Fang, who was the Big Bad throughout all of this.
Cobra Kai Season 5: The End
John Kreese (Martin Kove), is in prison. He’s been behind bars for the entire season. He is attacked by another inmate and it leads to disaster. He falls to the ground, his stomach bleeding and looking especially pale. Could the fearsome sensei really be dead? We’ll see…
Other than that, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) discover who has essentially kidnapped them from their fancy limousine. Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), Karate’s Bad Boy, is the culprit! Mike seeks revenge on Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), who had his furniture store set on fire earlier in the season to retaliate for Mike helping Daniel. After a brief fight, Mike believes that Silver is his true enemy and he, Johnny and Chozen set off to take the fight to their greatest foe.
As you would expect, things escalate quickly at Silver’s house. Silver’s henchmen attack Johnny while Chozen, Silver and Silver battle it out with weapons. Mike is out of practice so we won’t be too harsh on him.
Johnny is badly beaten and things look grim until Carmen’s ultrasound picture, which shows his unborn child, appears before him. He feels a new surge of energy, and fights back against his senseis. But it is still not enough… until Mike comes and saves the day. Go Mike!
Silver wins his fight with Chozen. He is badly hurt in Silver’s swimming pool and has a severe sword wound on his back. The villain heads for the dojo, where, as you will recall, Daniel is also going.

What happens to Terry Silver’s life?
Silver escapes his home largely unscathed from the attacks of Johnny, Mike and Chozen, but he meets his demise at the Cobra Kai Dojo. Tory discovers the video that shows Silver manipulating the All Valley last year and exposes him as a cheat. His students turn against him. But he’s not done yet and gets into a fight against Daniel. Silver’s lessons are followed by the OG Karate Kid in the third movie to defeat him. The cherry on top is the crane kick which was the famous move that beat Johnny Lawrence back in the first film.
Silver is handcuffed and Stingray finally admits that the attack took place, so Silver could be facing a long sentence in jail. The villain appears to have been defeated.
Is John Kreese dead?
John Kreese lives. Yes, the sensei faked his own death for the third time. The finale is a bit different, however, as we get to see the sensei set his plans in motion. Kreese is stabbed several times and then bleeds to death. The blood is actually red jelly, which Kreese has gotten into with the prisoner over dessert. Kreese then steals the security card of his doctor and walks out of jail. We don’t know where he will go next, but we think it’s likely to be something to do with the world tournament.
What happens to Mike Barnes?
Sean Kanan’s Mike Barnes is back from The Karate Kid 3. He was the Karate’s Bad Boy, and he was a pure villain in that film. Silver enlisted him to defeat Daniel in the All Valley tournament. But, it was in a very nasty way. Mike was to win a point against Daniel and then do something to remove the penalty point, continuing until the sudden-death round. The plan was to win the match in one hit and bring home the trophy for Cobra Kai. Mike was doing poorly against Daniel, but Mr. Miyagi wisdom helped him get back on his feet and he won the sudden death round.
Mike, however, is not a bad guy in Cobra Kai Season 5. He runs a furniture shop and tells Daniel that he was expelled from karate following the All Valley. Daniel assumes that Mike is still working with Silver, but Mike surprises him and actually gives some helpful information. Terry ends up igniting Mike’s shop and he loses his job.
Mike appears intent on revenge against Daniel. However, he soon discovers that Silver is his true enemy. He goes to Silver’s house with Johnny and Chozen and is immediately knocked unconscious. He wakes up just in time to save Johnny. Mike arrives at the Cobra Kai dojo with a valuable painting he stole from Silver. He plans to sell it to help him recover from his loss.
Is Chozen able to survive the sword fight and win?
You’d be forgiven if you thought Chozen had been killed when Silver left Chozen unconscious in the pool. After all, he did receive a brutal slash from his sword. The episode ends with Chozen surviving the skirmish. He does however have a wound that requires medical attention. It remains to be determined if Chozen will make a return in the future for Cobra Kai season 6.
What happens to the Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do children?
None of the Cobra Kai children stand by Silver after his cheating is exposed. After Robby and Tory confess to their mutual apologies, Robby and Tory reconcile. However Kenny Payne (Dallas Dupree Young), isn’t ready to speak with Robby. Sam and Miguel, the Miyagi Do and Eagle Fang children, reunite and even confess their love. The dojo fight is won by everyone.
What is the World Tournament and when will it take place?
Much is made about Terry Silver’s evil plan to win the top karate tournament in the world, officially called the Sekai Taikai. In a flashback, Silver speaks of using his fortune to make this tournament “the Super Bowl of karate.” Daniel and Johnny don’t want Silver winning such a big competition. So they take their combined Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang dojo into consideration. Both Cobra Kai, Daniel, and Johnny’s dojo are eligible for the tournament.
We don’t see the Sekai Taikai this season. This means that it will likely return in a future season 6. Silver is out of commission, but Kreese is still on the loose so it’s possible that Cobra Kai can compete in the tournament. It is unknown if Kreese will have students to support him. Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do have to compete under one name. However, Daniel and Johnny have yet to decide what this will be. We’ll have to speculate on their name for their dojo. They were called Miyagi Fang by Daniel in the season 4 finale.
What happens to Kim Da-Eun, her sensei?
Terry Silver is joined by Sensei Kim Da-Eun in his villainous quest at the halfway point of season 5. Both were trained by Master Kim Sun-Yung, the man who invented the Way of the Fist (a.k.a. Cobra Kai’s fighting style). In fact, Kim Da-Eun, a young woman, watches them train in a hidden place behind some pots, flashing back to Silver and Kreese’s training days. She was last seen watching the dramatic fight between Silver and Daniel at the end of the first season. It is not clear what she does next. It remains to be seen if she will team up with Kreese to win the Sekai Taikai Karate World Tournament. However, it seems like the most likely bet for this character.
We must remember that season 6 of Cobra Kai will be released very soon. Visit our site regularly for more details.
