Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mayuko Kanba. It’s a spin-off of the original manga Detective Conan by Gosho Aoyama and stars the black-silhouetted “culprit” that appears in the main series to represent the mystery culprits. Kanba launched the manga in Shogakukan’s Shōnen Sunday S in May 2017 and its chapters have been collected in six tankōbon volumes as of October 2021. An anime television series adaptation by TMS Entertainment is set to premiere in October 2022.

The story follows Hanzawa-san, a young countryman who decides to come and live a criminal life in the city of Beika. Only, before being able to start his new “career”, the man must first get used to urban life and its many challenges. Finding an apartment, using public transport, administrative paperwork, finding work… these are so many tasks that our budding criminal must face!

The main cast of the anime includes:

  • Shouta Aoi as Hanzawa-san
  • Inori Minase as Pometaro
  • Minami Takayama as Conan Edogawa
  • Wakana Yamazaki as Ran Mori

Akitaro Daichi is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment/Studio 1. Fu Chisaka is designing the characters. And Jun Abe and Seiji Muto are composing the music.

Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa, also known in Japan as Meitantei Konan Hannin no Hanzawa-san, anime is based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Mayuko Kanba. It’s a spin-off of the original Detective Conan manga by Gosho Aoyama. The spin-off stars the black-silhouetted culprit that appears in the main series to represent the mystery culprits.

Its story is set in Beika town in Tokyo, a town that is the center of the story in the Detective Conan main series. Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa manga has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Shonen Sunday S magazine since July 2017. Shogakukan has compiled its chapters into six tankobon volumes.
