Elden Ring: All Endings Explained. Although Elden Ring stands out from other FromSoftware titles due to its vast open-world full of adventures and secrets it offers, the game still features the same kind of obscure storytelling and complex lore that made FromSoftware’s other titles, most notably Dark Souls. It is possible that you will not know the meanings of any of the endings or how you got there.
As far as this goes, I will warn you that Elden Ring has very few definitive narrative answers. Those answers likely won’t be found for many months. Playing a FromSoftware game is part of the fun. It’s easy to get confused about the endings. These deliberately ambiguous endings are intended to be discussed, dissected, and debated.
To get the discussion started, however, let’s take a look at what Elden Ring‘s endings really mean. And, even more important, how to unlock them.
What are the Endings of Elden Ring?
As far as we can see, there are six endings to Elden Ring. You can play the game in such a way that you have the option to select from multiple endings before you reach the final, but you will ultimately have to decide which one you want.
It seems that there might be a seventh ending to the Age of Absolution ending. It’s unclear at the moment if that ending is real, or an urban legend fueled by misinterpreted datamined info. We’ll let you know the unlock code if we find out more about the Age of Absolution ending or any other endings in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring: The Age of Fracture’s Ending Explained
This is Elden Ring‘s standard (or basic) ending. This ending sees you repair the Elden Ring to become Elden Lord. The voiceover accompanying this ending tells a story about how a Tarnished became Elden Lord. It also notes that “our seed” will look back on us and recall an Age of Fracture.
This appears to be one of Elden Ring‘s “good endings”. It’s the ending where you finish the task you were given at the beginning of the game exactly as it was given to you. You have been made Elden Lord and the Elden Ring has been restored.
Fans have noted that Soulsborne endings in which your character rose to apparent power were often accompanied by some sort of catch. This is because of the Elden Lord title’s mysterious nature and the bizarre circumstances that led to the throne being abandoned, making it easy to speculate that the whole arrangement may be more sinister than you might think.
Are you really a puppet in someone else’s game? Are you just playing a part in someone’s game by taking on the title Elden Lord? What are the long-term effects of Tarnished becoming Elden King? The game’s other endings suggest that Elden Ring is not the best. It all depends on how you interpret the information you receive and the significance of certain figures you meet.
My guess is that this ending does not necessarily guarantee your fate. It will be fascinating to see what lore-hunters discover about the exact nature and meaning of this arrangement. However, this seems to be the most logical and straightforward conclusion in many ways.
Elden Ring: How To Unlock the Age of Fracture Ending

As far as I know, anyone who can defeat Elden Ring will be able to access this ending. You don’t need to do anything other than what you did to get to that boss fight.
It’s important to note that unlocking any of the endings discussed in this article will not allow you to see this (or any other) ending.
Elden Ring: The Age of Stars is Coming to an End

You can choose to be Ranni’s consort, and help Ranni become god. Marika is essentially replaced by this ending. Ranni, with her newfound power, bathes the Lands Between under moonlight. She claims this will liberate the Erdtree’s lost souls. You also start a journey of a thousand years, simply called the Age of the Stars.
This is a strange ending. This seems to imply that choosing Ranni over Marika would give everyone freedom and dismantle the old power structure. While this seems good on the surface, Ranni’s intentions are quite disturbing.
“Upon the order that I see. My order will not consist of gold but stars and moons of the cold night. They would be kept far away from the ground beneath their feet. Life, order, and souls are tightly bound together now. But I would keep them far from the earth beneath our feet. The certainty of sight, emotion and faith are all lost. This is why I would leave this soil and my order.”
It almost seems like she wants all living creatures to “ascend” beyond our mortal world. It’s clear enough to see how this could lead to the end to all pain and traditional power systems, but it seems that that process may also destroy some aspects of humanity as well as some of the comforts associated with humanity. It could be argued that if you stop wanting those comforts, they will cease to exist. But that’s where the philosophical part comes in.
It seems that Ranni’s side could cause new problems. However, given the events of the past, it is easy to see why some players might be willing to try a new world.
Elden Ring: How To Unlock the Age of Stars’ Ending

To make this end work, you will need to align with Ranni during Elden Ring. This basically means that you must complete the following steps:
- Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, is defeated
- Complete Ranni’s questline. This guide will show you how.
- Place the Dark Moon Ring onto Ranni’s finger
- Summon Ranni after you defeat Elden Ring‘s final boss
Elden Ring: The Age of Order’s End Explained
This ending is very similar to the Age of Fracture ending. The main difference is that the players use Fractured Marika’s Mending Rune of Perfect Order to restore the Erdtree. Additionally, the narration mentions that their seed will recall that this was the Age of Order.
Another bizarre ending. Although the basic idea is that you have somehow restored order to The Lands Between, there is much to debate about what exactly you have accomplished.
Popular belief is that you have essentially changed the will of Gods to make them less emotional, less likely to betray one another or feel other basic emotions. Some believe that the narration suggests that you have reset the timeline by bringing back the Lands Between to a more peaceful period. However, it is more accurate to say that your actions will make this time more memorable than the Back-to-the Future sense.
This seems to be one of Elden Ring‘s best endings, and you could argue that it’s the superior version of the Age of Fracture ending. There’s no telling what the future holds, so I’m interested to hear how this ending differs from the Age of Fracture ending.
Elden Ring: How To Unlock the Age of Order Ending

- Accept to help Brother Corhyn with his search for the Gold Mask.
- Get the Law of Regression spell.
- Cast the Law of Regression spell near the Erdtree Sanctuary. When you are done, report back to Gold Mask.
- Find Corhyn, Ashen Capital, after defeating Malekith. The Mending Rune for Perfect Order on Gold Mask’s Body can be found at the cliffs near the coliseum. This will unlock the final.
Elden Ring: The Age of Duskborn’s Ending Explained
This ending is another variation of Age of Fracture, in which the player’s character remains Elden Lord. This time, the big difference is that the player uses the Mending Rune for the Death Prince on Fractured Marika to restore the Runes of Death and exempt the Lands Between the curse of immortality. You will also be ascending to the throne in the midst of a huge dust shower.
This basically means that everything is now allowed to die again in The Lands Between. It would imply that the resurrection effect that you have been enjoying through the game is no more (at least from a lore perspective), and that life can continue in a more natural manner.
Although this feels like another “good ending”, the long-term consequences of your choices remain to be determined. Although it may sound odd to suggest that restoring your ability to die is a good idea, this ending could be considered to be the closest to upsetting the old power structures while still protecting most of the Lands Between things that were truly good and pure. It feels more like a “reset” than the ones we are about to discuss.
Elden Ring: How To Unlock the Age of Duskborn’s Ending

To unlock this ending, you must complete a lengthy and complex questline for Fia. This eventually leads to you acquiring The Mending Rune Of Death Prince (which can be used at the end to trigger the finale).
This questline is extremely difficult and complex, so I recommend this guide to anyone who’s interested in this ending.
Elden Ring: The Blessing of Despair Explained

This finale, like many Elden Ring endings, sees you becoming Elden Lord. The big twist is that you have chosen to align yourself to the Dung Eater, who will curse the Lands Between as well as all those who dare live there. You’ve made matters worse for a world already in very bad shape.
It’s hard to argue that the Lands Between cannot be saved or is full of people and things who deserve to die. This ending is the result of the Dung Eater’s (admittedly understandable!) resentment toward the Lands Between, and everything else in the world.

Maybe there’s something therapeutic about the idea that you can plunge this world that has brought you so much pain into an age of cursed death. But this seems like one of the most clear endings to the question of what the world will look like after all this. It’s possible, however, that I have completely missed another way to see this ending. Let me know if you have an alternate interpretation.
How to unlock the Blessing of Despair in Elden Ring
- Once the Dung Eater enters Roundtable Hold, give him a Seedbed Curse.
- To access the Subterranean Shunning Grounds below Leyndell, use the key that the Dungeater has given you.
- The Shunning-Grounds have released the Dung Eater’s corporeal form.
- Talk to the Roundtable and take the form of the Dung Eater.
- You can also give four more Seedbed Curses to the human form Dung Eater to obtain the Mending Rune for the Fell Curse. This will give you the option to choose this ending.
Elden Ring: Lord of Frenzied Flame Ending Explained

This Elden Ring ending is wild. You embrace the Frenzied Flame with the Three Fingers, and you choose to be the Lord of Frenzied Flame instead of the Elden Lord. This means, among other things, that you decide to destroy the Erdtree. Although it might seem a bit dramatic to claim that you have just activated the apocalypse this seems to be the essence of it.
This has been called Elden Ring‘s most terrible ending. I can see why. The decision to make yourself the center of the end is, at best, selfish and will likely lead to nearly total destruction. The Blessing of Despair did not end with people living in a cursed existence. This means that, at least for a while, nothing will be allowed.
Some people believe that the ending is about chaos, rather than evil. This is a fascinating perspective. The theory is that it is possible to build a better world from scratch after the end of the story. However, this optimistic view is at odds with the nihilistic nature and requires that you believe that no other endings could have led to a better world.
This ending’s last cinematic is, for what it’s worth, arguably the most satisfying of all the conclusions. If that’s your thing, then you can watch it all burn.
How to unlock the Lord of Frenzied Flame Ending

- Complete the quest line of Irina & Edgar in Weeping Peninsula. The quest should finish with Irina dying, and Edgar promising to take revenge.
- Hyetta Shabriri Grapes can be purchased at Purified Ruins or Gate Town Bridge.
- Give Hyetta a Fingerprint Grape at Bellum Church. The Church of Inhibition will give you the opportunity to obtain the grape by defeating Festering Finger Vyke.
- Meet Hyetta at Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. Take off all your clothing and gear before you enter the Frenzied Flame Door. This ending will be locked by a cutscene.
You should also know a few other details about the ending.
- It is possible to skip the questline involving Hyetta by knowing how to enter the Frenzied Flame Door without clothes, according to some reports. However, I have not tried it myself.
- You can only access the Frenzied Flame ending by choosing the Frenzied Flame ending. To remove the curse, you will need to defeat Gowry, Malenia, and use the Scarlet Bloom to transform the Unalloyed Gold Needle to Miquella’s Needle. Finally, equip the needle in Dragonlord Placidusax’s arena. This guide will provide more details on how to accomplish that task.
