Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock (ドラゴンボール エピソード オブ バーダック, Doragon Bōru: Episōdo obu Bādakku, Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock) is the anime adaptation of the manga of the same title. Planned as part of the 🐲Dragon Ball SSSS Project, the film was first shown at the Jump Festa 2011 and then streamed later for free online for a short time.

It was also seen on a Special DVD that came as a free gift in the March 2012 issue of Saikyō Jump, along with Dragon Ball: The Plan to Eliminate the Supersaiyans. All copies include a free gift of this book Dragon Ball Z: For Kinect videogame.

Synopsis

The alternate history of events that occurred after the TV special, Dragon Ball Z: A Lone Final Battle -Who Defied 💪 Freeza, in which Bardock, the father of Warrior Z Kakarot, survives the destruction of Planet Vegeta. He is then sent back in time, in which he faces Freeza’s ancestor, Chilled, and obtains Supersaiyan transformation.

Plot

Bardock finds himself alone in space after having fought a lot of soldiers. Freeza, along with his men, comes out of the ship. The Saiyan questions him about why he attacked his own soldiers, even though they had followed his orders. Zarbon and Dodoria mock him. Freeza tells him that he will end them all because if a Supersaiyan shows up, then his plans could be in danger. So he launches a Supernova to destroy Planet Vegeta and the entire Saiyan race.

Bardock remembers the explosion and wakes up in bed. He looks out from the room, taking in the scenery and wondering if he’s on his planet, Planet Vegeta. Some people come in, of a race the Saiyan had never seen. They introduce themselves to be Ipana, the village doctor, and his son, Berry. He was found by Ipana, who discovered him lying in the woods. Bardock is healed by Ipana using the ancestral medicine of Planet Plant. He remembers that he was once called Ipana. Planet Vegeta. He notices that the medicine in his medicine machines is the same as the one in the medicine bottles. He wonders if he has traveled back in time.

A ship is seen landing in the planet’s village. Bardock mistakes it for Freeza’s, so he goes to investigate and picks up his armor. Two of Chilled’s subordinates, Toobi and Cavira, arrive from the ship, and begin attacking villagers’ homes, telling them that Planet Plant is Chilled’s property and any person opposing him will be exterminated. Bardock arrives after being attacked and defeats Cavira via a punch to his stomach. Toobi is defeated with a kick, making him bounce against the ground and get stuck on a mountain until he falls. He thanked the villagers, but the Saiyan said he didn’t care whether they lived or died. Some time later, Chilled and his men tell the men that they are searching for the attackers of the island. Bardock then tells them that he defeated them. Soon after, he attacks and reveals his true intentions for the planet.

Chilled and his men start destroying 💪 everything. Berry follows them and begs Bardock, still furious, to save the planet. Chilled tells Ipana he is very curious about his special medicine, which is supposed to be used by Freeza in the recovery capsules.

Bardock rescues Ipana from Chilled’s men. He was shot by two men who wanted to kill him, nullifying them both. Ipana mentions Bardock’s name and Chilled is stunned to hear that it was him who killed Toobi & Cavira. When Chilled discovers that he is his face. He calls him Freeza and, in a fit of rage, punches him in the face. Chilled is kicked on the ground by an angry Bardock, who then counterattacks angrily. This proves Chilled’s superiority over a Saiyan like Bardock.

Bardock, who is still on the ground, has been hit by Chilled. He is shot to death by Chilled, who tells Berry to leave him. Berry tells Chilled he should leave, while Bardock shouts at him not to. Chilled responds that they are a nuisance and shoots Berry instead of his father Ipana, who was with Bardock.

This sparked a fury in Bardock. He said that if he had more power, he could win, and he was remembering his friends who died. Bardock transforms into a constant increase in fury and strength, becoming the “Legendary Supersaiyan.” But he does not understand the strange power. Chilled was not surprised at the change. Since he did not experience any increase in power, he does not notice it until they return to fighting. Bardock holds his hands and answers Chilled’s question “Who are YOU?” Bardock replies “I’m just a Saiyan,” and shows superiority. Chilled is unable to defend himself from all sides.

Chilled, reaffirming his belief that no one is stronger than him, attacks Bardock with a Supernova not as powerful as Freeza’s and tells him to “disappear together with this planet”. Bardock unleashes a Final Spirit Cannon, and Chilled is finally defeated.🐲

Already in his boat, Chilled‘s people were present and he abruptly told them to inform the clan that a Saiyan would change his hair color from black to golden. On Planet Plant, Berry photographs Bardock moving off towards the horizon.

That’s the end of the story. The Legendary Supersaiyan, Freeza’s fear, his race, and the belief that he is an ancestor (Chilled) were told by him about his childhood. He was defeated.

There are differences between manga and anime

• Bardock attacks with his energy attack, but in the manga, he attempts a melee attack.
• Bardock is hit by Freeza’s attack, as in the special, but he dodges it in the manga and flees.
• Berry remains in the room while the manga runs away.
• Bardock does not tell Ipana his name, but the manga says so.
• Toobi and Cavira: The manga says that they can bring a lightning sword in their arms, but not the manga.
• Bardock defeats Cavira with a punch 💪 in the stomach and Toobi with a kick making him bounce on the ground, getting stuck on a mountain until he falls. In the manga, Cavira and Toobi are defeated by a kick.
