Halloween Ends Ending Explained. Halloween Ends is an American slasher movie directed by David Gordon Green. It was written by Green, Danny McBride, and Paul Brad Logan. It is the sequel to Halloween Kills (2021), and the last film in the trilogy that began with the 2018 film.

Jamie Lee Curtis stars alongside James Jude Courtney and Andi Matichak. Will Patton, Rohan Campbell, and Kyle Richards are also featured in the film. This marks Curtis and Nick Castle’s last appearances as Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, respectively.

McBride revealed that he and Green had planned to make two films, but decided against it after waiting to see the response to the first film. The film’s title and Halloween Kills were announced in July 2019 after the success of the original film. Filming was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and rescheduled for Georgia in January and March 2022.

Halloween Ends premiered at Beyond Fest Los Angeles on October 11, 2022, and was theatrically released in the United States by Universal Pictures on October 14, 2022. It is streaming simultaneously on Peacock’s paid tiers for 60 days, just like Kills. It received mixed reviews from critics who found it confusing and considered it a weak end to the trilogy.

PLOT OF Halloween Ends

Corey Cunningham, a babysitter for Jeremy in 2019, locks him up in the attic as a prank. Just as Jeremy’s parents return home, Corey opens the door and accidentally knocks Jeremy off his balcony. Corey is charged with intentionally killing Jeremy.

The aftermath of Michael Myers’s latest murder spree, three years later, has left Haddonfield, Illinois still reeling. Michael has disappeared. Laurie Strode is currently writing a memoir after moving into a new home and living with Allyson.

Allyson was Laurie’s granddaughter. Allyson’s mother, Laurie, was killed by Michael. Corey works at his uncle’s salvage yard, which is still hated in the town. He is taunted and injured by bullies from high school on his way back home. Laurie observes and then brings him to Allyson’s doctor’s office.

They begin to form a relationship, and they attend a Halloween party. However, Corey is confronted and pushed away by Jeremy’s mother. Corey is thrown from a bridge and then dragged into the sewers by an unknown person. Michael appears to be Michael, who has lived in the sewers for four years.

Michael holds Corey by the throat and decides to let him go. Corey is confronted with a homeless man holding a knife as he makes his way out of the sewers. Corey stabs him in the back during a struggle. After realizing what had happened, Corey continued stabbing the man before throwing the knife away and running.

Corey and Allyson get together and have a dinner date. However, Allyson’s ex, a police officer, appears and harasses them both. Corey lures Michael into the sewers and later kills him. Allyson discovers that she was not promoted to a position with a fellow nurse, who is having an affair. Michael and Corey team up to kill the doctor and nurse at their home.

Allyson and Corey want to leave Haddonfield due to the past trauma. They have an unpleasant encounter and are insulted by a radio DJ. Corey returns home to his mother, who is cruel and slaps Corey. He then leaves the house where Jeremy was killed and goes back to sleep in the house that Corey slept in.

Laurie is growing suspicious of Corey’s behavior. She follows him around to Jeremy’s house and confronts him. She forbids him from leaving with Allyson. Corey retorts that Laurie is responsible for Haddonfield’s events and blames her. He says that if he can’t have Allyson, then no one else will.

Corey goes back to the sewers on Halloween and fights Michael for his mask. Laurie and Allyson are arguing as Laurie plans to leave. Allyson blames Laurie for Michael’s actions. Corey goes on a rampage that night, killing the high school students at the salvage yard. In all the chaos, Corey’s uncle also gets killed accidentally.

Then, he kills his mother and the receptionist at the radio station. Laurie then attempts suicide at the Strode home to lure Corey, who she then shoots down the stairs. To frame Laurie, Corey then stabs his neck in front of Allyson.

Michael appears suddenly to grab his mask, and Corey is killed by him. Laurie then struggles to pin Michael to a table using a knife in each hand. He is then sliced in the throat and his mask is removed. Michael is near death when he pulls out a hand and tries to strangle Laurie. But Allyson appears and breaks his arm. Laurie cuts open Michael’s arms, and he then dies.

Laurie finally loses Michael. She takes his body to the salvage yard, and attracts Haddonfield residents who follow her in a procession. He is then dumped into an industrial shredder at Corey’s uncle’s scrapyard. Allyson and Laurie eventually reconcile. Allyson leaves Haddonfield, after learning the truth about Corey. Laurie is finishing her memoir and rediscovering her relationship with Officer Hawkins.

REVIEW OF Halloween Ends

Director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills saw Michael Myers return home from an angry mob encounter and kill Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) daughter. The door was left wide open for the sequel, which saw two of horror’s most beloved icons face off in the final confrontation.

Green’s trilogy refuses to yield to expectations. Halloween Ends lives up to its title. However, that story is tacked onto a bizarre new story, set four years after Kills. Michael Myers disappeared in 2018, and his house was bulldozed. Laurie finally tries to find peace and move on.

She purchased a Haddonfield home, where she now lives free from traps with Allyson (Andi Matichak). Ends doesn’t tell Laurie’s entire story. But not really. Laurie might be the town’s freak show, but Haddonfield now has a new target: young Corey (Rohan Campbell). Corey’s promising future was ruined by a tragic accident that occurred in 2019 when he lost his babysitter job on Halloween night.

The trauma that lingers beneath Haddonfield’s surface boils forth. This sparks a new series of violence when Corey meets Laurie and Allyson. The story focuses on the inciting incident that shattered his life, and the present of the pariah who cannot catch a break.

Green continues to explore the themes of infective, nebulous evil and wrath through him. Haddonfield is even more cruel than ever. This is Corey’s story. Some of the older, more experienced players are merely avatars to Ends’ themes. Their personalities change based on their narrative needs.

Allyson is not the same young woman that we first met in the films. This version is more impulsive, and seeks love at all costs. This Allyson, despite being through the wringer as an orphan, learned nothing from his past mistakes. Corey’s loss of interest in his central character Ends is a problem.

Allyson and Corey can be frustrating together. While Green doesn’t shy away from some brutal and memorable kills, they are few and far between. It is replaced by a bold storytelling style regarding Michael Myers’ handling.

Many will not be able to take the Ends’ unorthodox path despite all those kills. The forced closure will not be an afterthought to the Strode saga. Ends ends up underscoring the disjointed nature of this trilogy. The narrative’s overarching structure lacks organic fluidity, and seems to ignore previous entries in certain ways.

Laurie Strode is the only connective tissue in the trilogy, and the tired concept of trauma and the toll it has on a community is the only one. This and the desire to defy the idea of a Halloween movie. Green delivers on this front more than expected; the trilogy is closer defies expectations, and will ruffle more feathers than usual with its bold and sometimes baffling choices.

Green is a master of the franchise callbacks and has great shot compositions. His gnarly kills are a big hit, which elicits cheers. His defiant storytelling, using the last entry to swing for fences, and his deft storytelling are admirable. However, the major tonal and character changes are disturbing from the beginning.

Although the saga reaches a fitting, but contrived end, the legacy characters are given their last bows. However the core themes fade away. Ends is best used as a standalone feature. However, its place in the trilogy or the Halloween canon will be highly polarizing.

Halloween Ends: THE END EXPLAINED

Interestingly, the final battle between Laurie Strode & Michael Myers isn’t all about them. Corey Cunningham, a new character, takes a lot more of the movie’s focus. The film opens on Halloween night 2019. Corey babysits Jeremy, a young boy for the Allen family.

But Jeremy quickly traps him in his attic to play a prank. Corey is terrified after Corey taunts him with Michael Myers’ spectre. He kicks down the door, knocking Jeremy over the bannister. He crashes to the ground and then dies as his parents return.

After a four-year time gap from Halloween Kills, Laurie and Allyson are back in the present. Laurie is writing her memoirs. She seems to be much more relaxed after all the trauma she suffered in the movies. But we soon learn that Haddonfield has blamed Laurie for Michael’s violent rampages. Allyson, her partner in crime, lives with her.

Laurie meets Corey in a convenience store where he is being taunted and trolled by high school students. Laurie takes him to Allyson’s hospital after he gets hurt. They eventually form a relationship and go together to Halloween. However, Corey meets Jeremy’s mother at the party and flees when she confronts him. He then argues with Allyson, and then he is caught by the bullies at high school.

The ringleader throws him across a bridge, and he falls hard to the ground. His children think he’s dead but he’s actually unconscious. He is dragged into the sewers by an unseen force. Corey awakens and tries to escape the sewers. But Michael Myers grabs his neck and nearly kills him.

Since Halloween Kills, The Shape has lived in the tunnels with a homeless man who brings him people to kill. Michael meets Corey and has a vision about Jeremy’s demise, which prompts him to release his prey. Corey flees, but is confronted with the homeless man, who has Corey’s dropped knife. Corey kills another man during the struggle.

After the experience, Corey makes a reconciliation with Allyson and takes her to the Allens home to explain what happened on Halloween night. They go out on a date at the diner where Allyson’s ex-boyfriend, a police officer approaches them. Allyson tries politely to shoo him away but Corey gets irritated and the other man realizes that he is Jeremy’s murderer. Later, the police officer follows Corey to the sewers, where Corey lures him in, and then offers him to Michael. Michael murders him.

Allyson had hoped for a promotion at her hospital. This is why she has to put up with her bosses’ cruel behavior. She’s been passed over to be promoted for Deb, a nurse who is actually dating Doctor Mathis. They are enjoying a romantic evening at Mathis’ home when Deb spots Corey in the Scarecrow mask he wore for Halloween. He is brutally murdering Mathis. Deb flees, but Michael catches her. Corey watches as Corey stabs her to death.

Corey wants to leave Haddonfield but Allyson doesn’t think so. They climb up to the radio tower but DJ Willy the Kid spots them when they go. They are both insulted by him – his radio shows often mention Michael Myers.

Allyson and Corey agree to leave Haddonfield in the wake of the confrontation. Laurie is able to see the merits of Corey’s bizarre behavior and decides to visit the Allens’ house, where Corey stays the night. Corey warns Laurie that if he doesn’t have Allyson then no one will. She says she hopes Michael will return. Laurie disappears as Corey speaks.

Halloween is finally here. Corey takes Michael’s mask and goes to the sewers, declaring that he is just a man and launches a rampage. He brutally kills high school bullies and accidentally kills his dad. Corey then returns home to kill his mother and the DJ in a particularly bloodthirsty act.

Laurie and Allyson are having a horrible argument about Allyson’s decision not to stay with Corey. Allyson accuses Laurie of the deaths of her friends, her parents, and then leaves. Laurie pulls out a gun from the safe and dials 911 to report suicide. Laurie shot a pumpkin, and we hear a gunshot. Corey is standing outside the doorway.

They fight but Corey wound up stabbing himself in his neck after telling Laurie once more that he cannot have Allyson if he doesn’t want to. Laurie frees the knife and Allyson enters to find her grandmother, who is holding the knife, standing over Corey’s corpse. She blames Laurie, and she leaves.

Laurie is clearly upset. But her problems are only beginning: The Shape is in her home. Michael breaks his neck, and Corey appears to be back to life. He wanders through the house looking for Laurie, but he is unable to find her. Laurie is almost killed several times during the battle that ensues between them.

She finally wins, however, and pinning Michael to a kitchen table with knives in her hands. She then knocks Michael’s fridge onto her legs. But it’s not enough. Michael grabs Laurie’s hand and begins to choke her. She tells him to “Do it”, but Allyson arrives on time and saves her grandmother. The police called her and informed her that Laurie had committed suicide. So she returned home.

The Strode women and Michael are killed by each other. They inflict wounds that cause him to bleed to death. The Strode women then tie Michael’s unmasked body to the back of a car and parade him through Haddonfield with the help of the police. The procession ends at the salvage yard and everyone in Haddonfield is included. Laurie places Michael’s body in a large shredder, and Allyson presses a button. Laurie then watches as the Shape is completely crushed.

Laurie continues to work on her memoir. She writes that “Evil doesn’t die, but it takes on new forms.” Frank is also present when she meets her again. It seems that they are going to start a relationship. Then, we are shown Laurie’s empty house – Michael’s mask is laid on a table.

Is Michael Myers dead? What happens to him?

The Shape seemed invincible throughout the entire Halloween franchise. Although he’s survived all that has been thrown at his, it seems like he might have to be bled to death and then crushed to a pulp this time. Although there is no evidence that Michael Myers survived, there is his mask at Laurie’s house at end. Could this be a sign that the boogeyman has returned or is it possible that he will return in the near future? Did Laurie keep it as a trophy or as a reminder of all she’s done? We will decide.

Is Corey dead? Did he come back to life?

To frame Laurie for his death Corey stabs him in the neck. Allyson initially falls in love with Corey. Corey seems to be able to resurrect himself when Michael enters Strode House. The Shape quickly snaps Corey’s neck, however, and it’s only temporary. We don’t see him again after that so we can assume he is dead. How are Michael and Corey connected?

Michael is ready to kill Corey. The Shape then sees Corey and has a clear vision of what Corey has gone through. The boogeyman let Corey go but the experience left an impression on Corey. He later brings a new victim to Michael and asks for help in killing.

Corey becomes a Shape copycat and wears the iconic mask to terrorize those who have wronged him in Haddonfield. Perhaps this has given Corey the same immortality as Michael. It seems that Corey recovers from a fatal injury only to be again killed by the Shape. It is not clear if this is because evil lives in them both or some other reason.

They are also linked by a thematic element. Corey’s mother believes her son was the town’s boogeyman after Michael disappeared. Haddonfield still needed a villain so they treated Corey as a monster. This treatment turned Corey into a monster. However, there is another question: Was Corey made evil through his experiences or was evil present in him all along?

This question is similar to those about Michael Myers. Is the Shape pure evil, incarnate, or just a man. Is the evil in him born or made? It’s difficult to say what happened with Corey. However, it is clear that Michael has a negative influence on Haddonfield. He destroys lives and makes people cruel. This includes Corey.

Laurie and Allyson, the final girls, both make it through the movie. Laurie is in danger when Michael grabs her neck. But, luckily, Allyson comes just in time to save Laurie. They finish the Shape together (seemingly) permanently. Laurie then lives a happy, peaceful life after all the chaos.
