Despite having such powerful jutsu, the Hyuga Clan also kept a dark secret: a clash between clan members that split the clan itself into two factions and also their conflict with Kumogakure. What happened actually? Let’s take a look at a brief history of the Hyuga Clan!

The Gentle Fist may not be the most visually intimidating fighting style, but the style can do a lot of internal damage. Like many clans, the Hyugas have a variety of special jutsu that are exclusive to their clan. Members of the Hyuga family have also shown themselves to be brilliant thinkers.

Ko Hyuga – He Was Assigned To Be Hinata’s Bodyguard

Ko Hyuga was a Jonin entrusted with protecting his clan’s heiress, Hinata. He was shown to be incredibly protective of Hinata. He witnessed a young Hinata speaking to Naruto. Afterward, he cautioned Hinata to avoid being around the jinchuriki boy.

Ko tried to stop Hinata from helping Naruto during the fight with Pain. Unfortunately, a broken ankle restrained him from aiding them. He defended Hinata in front of her father, insisting that Hinata had the ability to lead the clan. While Hiashi thought she had the skill, he also stated that she still lacked the confidence to do so properly.

Iroha Hyuga – His Efforts To Restrain Naruto Proved Fruitless

Iroha Hyuga was a Jonin. Like many of the people in his clan, he was born with the power of the Byakugan. He was a serious, matter-of-fact type person. He wasn’t always good at thinking outside the box.

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he was assigned to the Kumo Barrier Team. His job was to help keep Naruto and Killer B from joining the war effort. He was the first to notice when the two jinchuriki managed to escape.

Hoheto Hyuga – His Byakugan Saved Many Lives

Hoheto Hyuga was a Jonin and was born with the power of the Byakugan. He was said to be an incredibly calm and reserved person. He tended to become incredibly focused in battle.

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he was assigned to work with Gaara’s older brother. Hoheto was able to use his Byakugan to help save his teammates’ lives from Deidara’s attack. Hoheto would later watch over the sealed shinobi, like Deidara, until the resurrected shinobi were returned to the dead.

Tokuma Hyuga – He Was Said To Have The Strongest Byakugan

Tokuma Hyuga was a Jonin who worked directly under Anko. His job was to help investigate and track enemies of Konoha. He was said to have one of the strongest Byakugan in his clan. Also, he had spent countless hours honing his skills as a tracker.

Tokuma was known to be a calm and selfless person. At one point, he proved himself willing to sacrifice his own life for the safety of his team. While he held off their enemies, his teammates were able to escape. As a result, he briefly found himself held captive by Sasori and forced to fight his allies.

Hinata Hyuga – She Was Able To Show Great Improvement In Her Skills Over The Years

Hinata was born as the heiress to the Hyuga Clan. As her skills improved, she rose in rank from Genin to Chunin. Hinata initially came off as weak and incapable. When she refused to fight her younger sister, she lost her position in the clan.

Hinata would later prove herself capable after mastering an advanced jutsu when she managed to perform the Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists. She impressed everyone when she tried protecting Naruto from Pain. Her father would later show greater confidence in her abilities.

Hizashi Hyuga – He Was Known For His Taijutsu Skills

Hizashi Hyuga was born the younger brother in a set of twins. As the younger brother, he was immediately assigned to the branch family. His position in the family helped form his negative views of the world.

He was known to have superb taijutsu skills. His only son was a gifted ninja and would have received his early training from his father. He showed incredible skill when battling his brother. His death would help inspire his brother to eventually overturn the separation of the clan into the branch and main families.

Hanabi Hyuga – Her Incredible Skill Allowed Her To Be Promoted To Heiress Of The Hyuga Clan

Hanabi was born the younger sister of Hinata. Her impressive skill would have her promoted to the clan’s heiress. She endlessly worked to improve her skills, eventually rising to the rank of Jonin.

Around the time her nephew graduated the academy, she was given a squad of Genin to train. Her family turned to her when testing Boruto to see if he had inherited the Byakugan. As she has continued to improve her skills over the years, she will likely become head of the family after her father.

Hyuga Elder – His Strategies Helped Protect His Clan And Village

Hyuga Elder is a nickname given to the former elder of the Hyuga Clan. He was the father of Hiashi and Hizashi Hyuga. He was a very harsh man who put the state of his clan above anything else.

It was the Hyuga Elder that suggested Hizashi die in Hiashi’s place. He also was the one who favored Hanabi becoming the heir to the clan over her older sister. Though he sometimes came across as cruel, his actions helped protect his clan and ultimately his village.

Neji Hyuga – He Was Praised For His Genius From A Young Age

Neji Hyuga was praised for his skill and genius throughout his lifetime. He showed incredible promise beginning in his youth. His dark outlook on life originally held him back, but he was able to overcome his inner darkness with time.

He was promoted from Genin to Jonin, completely skipping over the rank of Chunin. In addition, he placed great value on his allies. He spent a considerable amount of time training with his cousin, Hinata. He also bravely sacrificed his life to keep Hinata and Naruto safe.

Hiashi Hyuga – He Has Trained His Whole Life To Lead His Clan

Hiashi Hyuga was the leader of the Hyuga Clan. Even as he gets older, he is known for being the strongest ninja in his clan. He is the father of Hinata and Hanabi. Hiashi is somewhat well-known for his ability to read people and predict their actions.

As the leader of the village, he sometimes has to make difficult decisions. He had to be well-trained in body and mind to properly lead his clan. He is also well-versed in the secret Hyuga jutsu taught only to the Main Branch of the family.
