Because Naruto’s main character, Naruto, is one of the most beloved anime characters ever made, he is also one of the most relatable. But like all other celebrities, Naruto is at the center of several controversies around certain topics such as his s**ual orientation. Yes, some wonder if Naruto is gay.
Who’s Naruto?
Masashi Kishimoto created Naruto Uzumaki, the manga’s titular protagonist. He is a young Ninja from Konohagakure (Hidden Leaf Village) and he becomes more prominent as the series progresses. Naruto is ridiculed by the villagers and exiled from their village because of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, a vicious creature that attacked Konohagakure. It was sealed in Naruto’s corpse. To win their approval, he hopes to be the village leader, the Hokage. He is a cheerful, positive, and optimistic ninja who can be sociable with other Konohagakure ninja as well as other ninjas from other villages. Naruto is seen in the films as well as other media, such as video games and original animated (OVA). He also appears in the sequel Boruto Next Generations where he plays the role of the Hokage and his son, Boruto.
Why do they think Naruto is gay?
Many people think that Naruto could be gay because of several events that happened during the adventures of our hero. Indeed, Naruto’s adventures have sometimes led him to actions that some people could interpret as gay behavior; we will see them in the following paragraphs.
Naruto kisses Sasuke
In episode 3 of Naruto, while Naruto was at the academy he wanted to confront Sasuke to understand why all the girls are in love with him. While crouching on the table, another student of the academy clumsily pushed Naruto. This resulted in an accidental kiss between him and Sasuke.
The same scene was repeated in episode 194 of Naruto Shippuden but this time in a very different setting. Our two friends were trying to get rid of a strange elastic material that was holding them. While trying to separate they ended up being attracted to each other with such a force that the scene ended with a kiss between our 2 friends.
In addition to these 2 scenes, some people even say that Naruto’s attachment to Sasuke is not brotherhood or even friendship but rather love or even s**ual attraction. But none of this is verified.
What shows that Naruto is not gay?
Concerning the 2 scenes mentioned above, the complete episodes totally prove that these 2 kisses between Naruto and Sasuke were only pure clumsiness and a stroke of luck. Indeed, during the first kiss, Naruto had no intention to kiss his friend. He was just trying to measure himself against him. Same for the 2nd scene where our 2 friends try to free themselves from the rubber ball.
Moreover, concerning Naruto’s attachment to Sasuke, it should be noted that Naruto is a manga which contains a lot of values and life lessons. The author was probably trying to make us see what it was to be loyal to the first person we considered as a friend and in whom we saw a comrade in arms and a rival. It should be noted that Naruto wanted to do anything to bring Sasuke back because he could see that his absence was hurting Sakura, his beloved in the past.
In episode 206 of Naruto Shippuden, Sakura lied to Naruto by telling him that she loves him and that he should forget the promise he made to her before going to look for Sasuke. Naruto automatically realized the deception and didn’t believe it, because he was aware of Sakura’s feelings for Sasuke.
So according to me, Naruto wanted to bring his friend back to Konoha mainly from the promise made to Sakura, and not from any repressed love. Moreover, he knew that Sasuke was on the path of revenge, a path with no way out. He was trying to save his friend at all costs.

Naruto was in love with Sakura
For all the watchers and readers of Naruto, this is not a secret that Naruto was in love with Sakura. Since the first episode of the series, Naruto has shown his love for Sakura. This love was even the origin of Naruto’s rivalry with Sasuke when they were kids. This love lasted for a very long time until Naruto decided to move forward and end up with this.
Naruto is married and has children
The Naruto Shippuden series ends on the wedding of Naruto and Hinata. Yes! Naruto has been married to Hinata. In Boruto: Naruto Next Generation we can see that Naruto and Hinata have 2 kids who are Boruto & Himawari.
CONCLUSION
To conclude, I don’t think that Naruto is gay. He has always shown his attraction for girls and also because he is married and even has children.
Kishimoto probably did too much by wanting to prove Naruto’s loyalty to his friend. This could have pushed people to think that Naruto was in love with Sasuke. This is not the case or at least it was never proven.
