Tomodachi Game

Tomodachi Game is a Japanese manga and anime series focusing on psychological thrillers. The manga is written and illustrated by Yuki Sato. Also, the manga was first serialized on December 9, 2013, in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine.

Moving on to the anime, the first airing of the anime was on April 6, 2022, on Network (NTV). Hirofumi Okura is the director of the anime.

Main Plot

The anime centers around four best friends: Yuuichi Katagiri and Yutori Kokorogi. Additionally, they have a great friendship and bonding. When the school planned a trip, Shiho and Makoto were assigned. The money was stolen and caused problems in their classes.

Unknowingly, however, they were knocked out by their assailant. Upon waking up, Manabu Kun was also present in the white room. He explained to them that they had been forced to go along with him in order to pay a debt of 20 million yen. They must also complete the task given to them in order to pay off the debt. Moving on, the games tend to be psychological.

The plot moves forward as they face the challenge of humanity and their friendship.

Characters

1. Yuuichi Katagiri

Yuuichi Katagiri is a high school boy. He seems weak in his studies, too. He lives alone, and he often does so alone. Also, as he keeps on hearing and following his mother’s advice that they “are more important than money”, he is very true towards his friends. To make money, he works part-time because he lives alone. He was shocked by an incident at school that occurred to his friends, and he decided to join the game. A game was also created to repay the debt.

2. Shiho Sawaragi

Shiho, too, is a student in the same high school. Plus, she is the class president. Her father is a well-known police officer in the area. She is driven to seek justice. She is an excellent athlete and can also fight. She also enjoys good friendships and has a crush on Yuuichi.

3. Yutori Kokorogi

Yuuichi and Yutori Kokorogi are friends. Although she was initially bullied in her school, she eventually became a close friend of Yuuichi. Shiho was able to solve her problem. 4. Tenji Mikasa

He is also working hard to earn a scholarship, as he cannot afford the fees. The reason is that his father died. He also has a dream of becoming a great lawyer.

5. Makoto Shibe

Makoto is the president of his class. Additionally, he is charming in appearance and an excellent athlete. His behavior is often unknowingly harmful to others. Although he is wealthy, he shows great kindness to his friends as well as the people around him. His family was very supportive of him in the past. His parents are now divorced.

Is Tomodachi Game the same as Squid Game

The plot of Squid Game is similar to Tomodachi Game’s. Participants in the game, as in both series, are taken unawares and must play to repay a debt. Both series also feature participants being taken by an attacker. Money was more important than humanity, and things were checked.
