Locke & Key will finally return to our screens on August 10 for season three.

Fans were aware of the cancellation, but it was not unexpected. Meredith Averill and Carlton Cuse, co-showrunners, were previously able to make an Instagram statement explaining why they had decided to cancel.

They wrote, “Once the series was started, we felt that three seasons would be the perfect length to bring the story about the Locke family’s Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying end.”

“As storytellers we are grateful for the chance to tell Joe Hill’s and Gabriel Rodriguez’s amazing stories exactly as we wanted. The magical keys will be kept by us for our personal use.”

First-look photos show plenty of trouble ahead. One pic shows the Locke family taking a protective stance, seeming ready to fight. The following photo shows axes and mallets, which can’t be taken as a sign that there is peace.

There may be some romance in the air, despite the dangers. One picture looks suspiciously like a set-up for a wedding. Merriment is not far away, despite the perilous events that are on the horizon. This can be seen through a charming sparkler scene.

The series was completed in September 2021. Later, Joe Hill confirmed this via Twitter.

Cast of Locke and Key season 3: Who’s there?

The final showdown is upon us, and the Locke family will be returning. The clue is in the name, right?

We’ll be seeing Connor Jessup (who plays Tyler), Emilia Jones, Jackson Robert Scott (Bode), Darby Stanchfield (Nina), and Aaron Ashmore (Duncan).

Connor said a heartfelt goodbye to the series after filming was completed.

Petrice Jones (who plays Scot), Brendan Hines, Josh, and, naturally, Kevin Durand (who returns as Frederick Gideon) complete the cast.

There is also the possibility that we will see Hallea Jones’ Eden once again, despite what happened during season two’s finale.

Season 3 plot for Locke and Key: What’s the outcome?

Cuse stated, “We have incredible adventures in store in season three for the Locke family and couldn’t be more excited to continue our story with our great partner Netflix.”

Dodge was defeated in the second season, but Frederick Gideon has just begun. Eden summoned him, and for a brief moment it seemed like she would be the one to rule all. The Captain then threw her into the well, from which he had come, before letting go through the portal to make hell.

Cuse and Averill said that season three will be “much more heavily focused on the family” as well as that they’ll face “the greatest threat they’ve faced yet”.

“This really bonds them in a way we have never seen before.” Collider was told by Averill that she couldn’t agree more.

“We accept the challenge that each season must surpass the previous season as part of our mission. Although it is a challenging task, it’s also a lot of fun and we have been able to accomplish that.”

The rumored Sandman crossover won’t happen anytime soon. Joe Hill said that The Sandman is heading to Netflix but there won’t be a Locke & Key crossover.

He wrote, “I’ve seen a couple of articles now teasing a Locke & Key/Sandman cross-over on Netflix & thought that I’d jump in for a clickbait test,” on Twitter in October 2021.

“Nope. “Nope. Can’t wait.”

He said, “I think it’s amazing that @neilhimself allowed @GR_comics and I to play in the Sandman Universe for the Hell & Gone Comic.” It was incredible to spend some time adventuring in his universe. It’s something I will always treasure.”

We were part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, June 2022. This was our first glimpse back into the universe. The show was building up to a dramatic finale.

This teaser looks epic. It’s clear that it has left some fans disappointed as this is the end of these characters.

One YouTube user wrote, “This show is so damn underrated.” Three seasons isn’t enough. We need more L&K.” Another praised the show for not relying on shock tactics or swearing to tell a compelling story. We are inclined to agree.
