Before Men In Kilts Season 2
Season 1 of Men In Kilts was about the actors’ shared home of Scotland. Season 2 of the six-episode series will see McTavish and Heughan travel to New Zealand. McTavish tweeted that “there will be driving joy, shock and surprises, landscapes, history, and a celebration for all things Kiwi.”
Why New Zealand? They shared some information about their choice of location for the new season and what viewers can expect. Continue reading to learn all we know about Men In Kilts Season 2.
The men travel around Scotland from different perspectives in Season 1’s “Scotland by Land, Air, and Sea”. After a long struggle with their bikes on hilly terrain, the men take some time to admire the stunning Scottish plains.
They also discuss the popularity of the Scottish Highlands, but they also mention how the lowlands and islands of Scotland have been huge drawcards for tourists. They travel to Loch Ness by campervan, and Sam is attacked by midges at The Minch, which is a strait on their way to the lake.
Men In Kilts Review
Sam recalls a story from his youth that a giant “hag” dropped stones into the sea to form the islands of Scotland. This legend is what he and the rest have come to call home. They also discuss the mythical Loch Ness monster while they are on the topic of mythical happenings. They are met by Gary Lewis, a former Outlander costar, who plays Colum MacKenzie. He is the brother of McTavish’s Dougal, and the uncle to Heughan’s Jamie.
The trio take a rowboat out to enjoy the famous body of water. It’s a small family reunion. Sam and Graham continue to admire the beautiful, untidy beauty of Scotland. They then take a boat trip to the Isle of Skye, and then drive to Quiraing. There they board bikes to visit the Old Man of Storr. This hill structure has been used as a filming location for many films, including Transformers.
Next up on their itinerary is a seaplane flight over Ben Lomond’s “munro”, which is Scottish for mountain. Sam and Graham are ready for their most difficult adventure yet when they land at Kilt Rock (aptly named).

Problem is? Graham is afraid of heights, but he was able to navigate the highlands. With the help of Matt Barratt, an abseiling instructor, Sam convinced Graham to overcome his fear. He does conquer his fear, sort of. Graham gets into a harness and, with Sam coaxing him and laughing, he makes a short rappel down Kilt Rock to much applause. Sam, a daredevil, barely blinks when it’s his turn.
It is a satisfying conclusion to their land and air adventures. We are eager to see what the next chapter brings.

Men in Kilts Season 2 Release Date

The plans of the STARZ Network for TV series “Men in Kilts: a Roadtrip with Sam & Graham” are not yet known. Comparing the schedule to now, it appears that Men in Kilts: a Roadtrip with Sam & Graham 2nd season premiere date is Sunday, April 9, 2023.
Men in Kilts Season 2 Cast
Television series featured Sam Heughan, Sam Heughan, and Graham McTavish, Graham McTavish.
Like Season 1, Men in Kilts Season 2, will feature Heughan & McTavish as the stars of the road-trippers. However, we don’t yet know the names of any local historians, makers, musicians, or experts that we will meet on our journey.
What is Men In Kilts Season 2?
McTavish says that New Zealand is the “Scotland of the Southern Hemisphere” because of all the Scottish immigrants who settled there. McTavish said, “We will be enjoying ourselves in their footsteps that went there in early 19 century,” while Heughan said, “Not only this, but we are also going to look at the culture of New Zealand, the food, drink, and the [indigenous] Maori cultures.”
Heughan also stated that viewers can expect to see more of the “high-octane adrenaline junkie activities” McTavish tried to avoid during the first season. This was the source of much of the show’s humor. Graham was apprehensive during the announcement. Heughan deadpans, “Oh, it’s nothing, I wouldn’t worry about it.”
In a sit-down with Forbes in March 2022, Heughan provided more details on what Men in Kilts Season 2 will present to the fans. He explained that they were looking at the New Zealand culture, the Scottish heritage and the connections with immigrants. “Then, we looked at the food and drink. We’re now looking at what you can do. It’s an outdoor country with lots of wildlife. Graham is also subject to a lot of torture.”
Sam used to rush around the world, thinking that he would be bored in his home country. He soon realized that he was having fun, but spending unnecessary money on useless souvenirs and thoughtlessly wasted his money. He decided to spend time in the history of the area where he was born with a friend. They were surprised at how many amazing things they didn’t see, and how prejudiced their views were about the world around them. They saw many places, heard about battles, coronations, and admired the beautiful plains. They were full of patriotism.
What was the story in Men In Kilts Season 2?
The first season, which aired in February 2021 was the premiere. Heughan, McTavish, and their van drove around Scotland, exploring various aspects of Scottish culture, history, and tradition. Outlander, which was filmed in Scotland, was the inspiration for this travel show. However, the show’s main appeal was its buddy humor and bromance.
As McTavish and Heughan tried Scottish whisky and cuisine, viewers watched as armchair tourists, and McTavish explored Scottish clans and their tartans. Oh, and Heughan ran naked in the ocean. Let’s pray that Season 2 will feature a repeat of this antic!
