Miyano Yoshikazu is one of the main characters of Sasaki and Miyano. He is a big fan of BL manga and shares his love with Shuumei as they spend more time together. He is dating Sasaki Shuumei.

Miyano Yoshikazu’s Appearance

He is petite in stature, has a feminine appearance, with big eyes and curly hair. His left eye has a mole. Although he is quite short, his father’s height (188 cm) continues to give him hope (although his mother is only 152 cm tall).

Miyano usually wears his school uniform with his tie untied and with a sweater or knit vest.

Miyano isn’t very outgoing, but he is not shy either. He has a lot of close friends and good relationships with his classmates, both past and present. He is very indecisive about things he’s not sure of, but he’s determined once he decides. Although he is not a pushover, he is polite and thoughtful.

Miyano is sensitive about his feminine features. This may be due to Miyano’s past experiences with his classmates gently teasing him about looking ‘girly’ or the girl he was in love with suggesting that he crossdress. Although he is now slightly more masculine, this complex about his looks still plagues him.

He does talk about events as if they were potential BL situations, but it is something he prefers to keep to himself. He is also open to discussing BL with Sasaki, but only when they are together. Miyano is very specific about what he feels comfortable with. It all depends on the situation and who is involved.

Miyano Yoshikazu’s Story

Miyano Yoshikazu came across a student who was being bullied. Miyano found it shocking and said that he has never seen such scenes in any of the BL stories. Miyano calls and details that a student is being beaten up in front of the southern school building. Miyano sees Sasaki Shuumei and hears he’s going to end the fight.

Three months later, Miyano hears from Sasaki that he looks as cute as ever. However, he replies that he doesn’t want to save his face, as he is sensitive about how he looks. Miyano feels grief at Sasaki’s love for physical contact and suggests that he either cut it out or draw a doujinshi with him. Miyano answers questions about his manga terminology in class and lends Sasaki a BL-related book to read.

Miyano greets Sasaki and says good morning. He literally covers his face to stop him from discussing the contents. Miyano and Sasaki are crouching in a quiet spot. He explains what he loves about the book. It is written so that the reader can feel the joy of the couple. Miyano, elated by the conversation, asks Sasaki if he would lend him another book. ^[1]

Miyano Yoshikazu’s Relationships

Sasaki Shuumei

The story’s driving force is the relationship between Sasaki Shuumei and Miyano. Miyano, Sasaki’s junior, initially saw Sasaki as a charming, rakish upperclassman whom he admired, even though he was soon intimidated by Sasaki. They first met when Sasaki stopped Miyano from intervening and saved Kuresawa. Their friendship blossoms a few months later when Sasaki asks Miyano to lend him a manga. This led to a mutual love of BL and a long-lasting relationship.

Miyano is indecisive to the point that he admires Sasaki’s courage. However, these feelings will eventually change into something more.

Kuresawa Tasuku

Kuresawa Tasuku is one of Miyano’s classmates. The incident at school that saw Kuresawa being beaten up made them friends and they began to exchange friendly banter. Kuresawa frequently visits Miyano to ask for suggestions on BL manga for his girlfriend. He also sends pictures and stories about Sasaki or Miyano to her. Kuresawa supports both Miyano as well as his relationship with Sasaki. He is one of those people who helps them without being obvious.

Tashiro Gonzaburou

Tashiro Gonzaburou is another one of Miyano’s classmates. Tashiro thought Miyano was actually a girl at first and jokes about it now, but they are still good friends. Tashiro is aware that Miyano is interested in BL manga and, though he doesn’t understand it, he doesn’t judge it.

Hirano Taiga

Hirano Taiga is Miyano’s senior in the Disciplinary Committee and the person he turns to for assistance when he witnesses a bullying incident. Although Miyano initially finds it awkward to be around Hirano, he soon realizes that he was imagining Hirano as a BL situation and Hirano offers his help. The two men quickly form a close friendship, both junior and senior. Hirano is protective of Miyano, but he opens up to him when Miyano has a need. He also becomes more open-minded after seeing how close Sasaki and Miyano are.

Hanzawa Masato

Hanzawa Masato is one of Miyano’s seniors and President of the Disciplinary Committee. Although they don’t live very close, Hanzawa is friendly and often teases Miyano about things such as his height. Hanzawa is willing to help Miyano whenever he can and clearly cares about his junior.

Ogasawara Jirou

Ogasawara Jirou, one of Miyano’s seniors. They met through mutual acquaintances and although they started off badly due to Ogasawara’s prejudices against BL. However, Miyano realizes Ogasawara is easy to talk to, and even offers Ogasawara advice during fights with his BL-loving girlfriend.

Makimura Nao

Makimura Nao was Miyano’s middle school classmate and former crush. Although they initially got along well, Makimura suggested Miyano’s crossdressing. Miyano thought she was making fun, and cut contact with her.

Miyano, an only child, seems to be close to his mother and shares a striking resemblance with her.

Miyano and Boys Love

Miyano is a huge fan of the fiction genre ‘Boys Love’ (BL). He is also a self-confessed fudanshi (Fu Nan Zi, BL fanboy). Although he doesn’t openly confess this to strangers, he doesn’t hide his interests when he is with friends. He is happy to discuss it, helping Sasaki to understand common terms in the genre like seme, uke. His interest in the genre is still relatively new. He discovered BL by accident while looking for a manga to read during high school.

His favorite manly ukes are the black-haired ones. He also enjoys the feminization and dressing up of male men in women’s clothes, including ‘beefy and semeish’. Format-wise, he doesn’t care about what format he chooses. He will read manga and novels as well as drama CDs and live-action feature films.

• Miyano doesn’t like sweets as they are difficult to digest. He finds carbonated drinks to be strange on his tongue. This is also why he doesn’t like spicy food. Miyano even drinks his coffee black. He loves citrus-flavored candies, and wasabi-flavored candies.
