Micro Magazine published the second volume of the light novel in July 2016. It has been adapted into manga by Tomowo Maruyama and published by Gentosha. Hinako Inoue also published a spin-off manga. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the manga and light novels for North American release, including the spin-off. C2C produced an anime television series adaptation in October 2022.
Plot of Reincarnation as a Sword
The protagonist dies in a car accident and is reincarnated as a sword. He has no memory of his name but can recall everything from his past life. He accepts his fate as a sword and begins to search for someone to be his wielder. A caravan of slave merchants is under attack by a two-headed bear.
Fran, a young catgirl slave discovers the sword and uses it to kill the bear. She is freed from slavery and names the sword “Teacher” and they embark on an adventure together.

Randell, an adventurer, is ambushed by goblins and needs to be protected by the eccentric pair. Fran no longer thinks carefully, and immediately gets in motion. She kills all of them one after the other and, in the end, Randell is spared any injuries. Randell realizes that she could also be useful and offer him protection. However, Fran is able to see throughout the journey due to the magic blade.
Fran, on the other hand, accepts Randell’s help. The two of them get to know each other a lot and Randell reveals a lot about adventurers. She finds the task very interesting and decides to get her guild card as soon as possible. Fran is shocked by Donadrond’s speed as he surprises her on numerous occasions. Nell is convinced that the examiner is too relentless. One of his attacks is so potent that even Nell is frightened that he is going too far. Fran is able to avoid critical injury by using his Sword to minimize the impact. Donadrond is impressed at her ability to think clearly. The Sword uses supportive magic to rapidly increase Fran’s AGI and STR. Superior sword mastery allows her to make a cut in the examiner’s biceps during her next attack.
Donadrond believes that her abilities are not enough to save her. This evaluation is sadly inaccurate. Fran makes use of her magic sword to combine her sword expertise with magic, which catches the examiner completely off-guard.
