The Witcher: Blood Origin: Everything You Need to Know.
The Witcher: Blood Origin. We’ll be exploring the world of The Witcher while we wait for season 3 in 2022. The new prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, will be available on Netflix in December 2022. Here’s a preview of what we know about The Witcher: Blood Origin.
Blood Origin, one of many Witcher projects that are currently under development at Netflix. With season 3 being filmed in 2022, we have more mothership series. A new animated series and a spin-off for children are also in the works.
Let’s now get to The Witcher. We start with the post-credit teaser that was attached to The Witcher season 2.
When will The Witcher: Blood Origin Release on Netflix?

Let’s start with the most important question. When can we expect The Witcher: Blood Origin to be available on Netflix?
The streaming giant has not yet announced a release date.
According to our sources, Netflix will release the series in December 2022. Although some sources suggest a December release, we are hearing that Netflix is considering it. For now, however, all we know for sure is that the series will be released sometime in 2022.
Some speculated that Netflix might release The Witcher: Blood Origin at the same time as House of Dragon (the Game of Thrones prequel series), and the new Lord of the Rings series, given that they all fall within the same category.
Redanian Intelligence also reported an October 2022 release.
When is The Witcher: Blood Origin set in The Witcher timeline?

Netflix released a brief synopsis to coincide with the announcement of The Witcher: Blood Origin.
This means that the show will be set on the Continent, but 1200 years before the main series. It also tells us that six episodes will be exploring the story of two of the most important events of Witcher lore, The Conjunction Of the Spheres which merged the worlds of monsters, elves, and humans into one and the creation of the first witcher.
This raises a question: How is the show able to cover both these events when they occurred several centuries apart? The Conjunction of the Spheres took place around 1200 years prior to the beginning of The Witcher saga. However, the first witchers didn’t begin to roam the land until much later. Netflix’s official companion map indicates that the first witcher was created 967 years after the Conjunction.
Blood Origin could reveal some of the myths surrounding the Continent, like the secret of monoliths.

The format could be the answer. We know from one casting call that Blood Origin is an episodic television series.
This would imply that there will be six episodes. Each episode could tell a different story, possibly similar to Disney’s The Mandalorian. It’s possible, however, that the show will include big-time-skips in between episodes. We might get multiple stories that bridge the centuries. Perhaps we will get an even split of the episodes with the Conjunction being the main focus and the story about the first witcher. One possibility is that the “first witcher” mentioned in the synopsis was an earlier version than the one in Netflix’s official timeline, a prototype-witcher. Laurence O’Fuarain Fjall is the most likely candidate to be the “protowitcher”.
The Witcher: Blood Origin story explained

Most people will be familiar with the fact that Netflix’s The Witcher is based upon a beloved series written by Andrzej Sapkowski. This book also inspired CD Projekt Red to create its Witcher video games. Although Sapkowski occasionally touches on events such as the Conjunction of the Spheres, it is evident that Blood Origin will have a much greater resemblance to the story of the Conjunction of the Spheres. This is because very little information is available about the history of this period on the Continent.
The show can still draw on the foundations of early history. The original The Witcher world was populated by waves. The gnomes were first to populate the world, followed by dwarves and then elves. These Elder Races didn’t live in peace. However, The Conjunction of Spheres threw the world into chaos, trapping many unnatural creatures from other dimensions, including monsters and humans. The Conjunction of the Spheres caused the fabric to change forever, but it is not known how or why.

The creation of the first Witcher is a story almost as tangled in mythology as the Conjunction. A group of rebellious mages forged a weapon to combat the supernatural creatures that plagued many parts of the Continent long after they first appeared. Ironically, some of them, like the sorcerer Alzur, were also responsible for creating the most horrific abominations through magic. In a mysterious and painful ritual, the Trial of the Grasses created the first witchers. The survivors gained speed, agility, and reflexes that made them the ultimate monster-slayers.
While the show will discover its own path to reach these events, it cannot borrow from the books. A pre-Conjunction world may offer an opportunity to explore the Elder Races’ societies in a way that the main Witcher series can’t. Through all the centuries that followed Geralt’s life, the mystery surrounding the first witcher is still a major theme.
What characters will feature in The Witcher: Blood Origin and who is in the cast?

Cast grid for The Witcher, Blood Origin – Pictured by Michelle Yeoh and Jacob Collins-Levy. Lenny Henry, Mirren Mack, Nathaniel Curtis.
Slowly, the cast and characters that will be featured in the prequel series have been announced.
Recapped reported in November 2020 that the show was looking for two female leads. They were named Eile “The Lark” Lithe, and Princess Merwyn. Eile is from an elf clan that uses knives as their primary weapon. Jodie Turner Smith was originally attached to Eile, but she had to leave the series because of a scheduling conflict. We know that Sophia Brown, seen in Netflix’s Giri/Haji, will play Eile while Mirren Mack (known as Mudlarks), will play Merwyn.
Laurence O’Fuarain (Rebellions, Vikings), was the second cast member confirmed and will play the role of Fjall Stoneheart. The character was described as being “physically strong and gritty” and a member of an elven clan which rivals Eile’s. Fjall could become the first Witcher of the Continent.

Redanian Intelligence first announced Jacob Collins-Levy as Blood Origin’s Captain Eredin. This is the Eredin that we know from both the books and the games. In fact, another actor was cast to play an older version of this character in The Witcher season 2. This is the first significant connection between Blood Origin and the main series.
