Virgin River Season 4 Review & Ending Explained?

Virgin River Season 4 was finally released on Netflix as part of 2022’s TV schedule. It featured intriguing relationships and romantic twists, just like the previous seasons. The Virgin River Season 3 finale left viewers with many cliffhangers. You can bet that the new episodes answered fan questions and gave us more to talk about before Season 5.
What kind of shocks did Season 4’s Virgin River finale deliver to viewers? We are here to tell you all that, give you the latest developments in Mel’s and Jack’s love story, and show you how Season 5 was set up. Let’s get on with it!
It is now up for debate whether Virgin River Season 5 will see Preacher reunite with Paige or continue with Julia (who was already worried about his relationship with Paige even before she returned). The drama!
Brady has been exonerated for shooting Jack

We all knew that Brady was being set up for shooting Jack. The most recent season confirmed that suspicion. But Brady’s problems are not over with Calvin, his ex-crime boss. Calvin was shot to death by Melissa Montgomery, his boss. Melissa has already made it clear that she will make Brady’s criminally-inclined life more dangerous and difficult in the future. Yikes!
The Relationship of Lizzie and Denny Now Has a Sad Obstacle

Many Virgin River viewers thought that Lizzie would take Ricky back, as he had neglected to tell them about his time in the military. It was clear that the young man was hiding something and Lizzie lost faith in him for a while.
After hearing that Lizzie was considering quitting her job with Hope, Denny revealed the reason he was acting so suspiciously: Huntington’s Disease. It is fatal and does not have a cure. Since her first arrival in Virgin River, Lizzie was a rule-breaking, self-absorbed troublemaker. Season 5 will likely see her and Denny trying to keep the romance alive, regardless of what happens in his future.
Brie’s Dangerous Ex-Boyfriend is Back

Poor Brie. She had been trying to help Brady with his legal troubles, but she also kept from Brady the fact her ex-boyfriend Don raped Brie and that she fled to Virgin River to escape him. In the Season 4 finale, Don confronted Brie in the most frightening way possible. He showed up at her car one evening to try to get her to sign an agreement that would prevent the “rumors” about what he did to Brie from affecting his career prospects back in America.
Brie informed him that she will file a police report against Don and bring charges against him. It’s probable we’ll see more of Don in Virgin River Season 5. And it won’t be fun.
I don’t know how you can see, but Virgin River Season 5 already looks like another season filled with drama, romance and plenty of surprises that will keep us glued and excited for Season 6.
Jack and Mel

Jack’s father visits Virgin River. Jack and his father have a contentious relationship. He is visiting Virgin River for the first time. He criticizes Jack’s entire life, including the outside paint. Mel incorrectly informs Jack’s dad about the twins. He didn’t tell his parents.
Jack and Mel talk about their father’s relationship. Jack fears that this may indicate the type of father he will be. He agrees to meet with his father. They talk about their shared values and clear the air.
Jack’s father also admitted that Jack’s mom wants a divorce. He initially blames him for his father’s actions, but Brie later reveals that his mother wants to travel and his dad doesn’t want to quit his job. He doesn’t even tell his father about Mel’s pregnancy.
Mel is concerned that she may have caused harm to the baby. She checks on the baby and brings up the topic of paternity testing. Mel realizes Jack doesn’t want the truth and tells him that it’s not possible to live with the uncertainty. Jack acknowledges that he may feel differently about the baby if he learns he is not the biological father.
Mel

Mel gives birth to twins at the clinic. One is stillborn. Mel is sent into a spiral after this, recalling her stillbirth experience.
Jack starts drinking excessively. Jack uses alcohol to self-medicate as he deals with his combat PTSD. Lonergan, a marine who was killed in combat with Jack, had a brother stop by the annual fair and share one of his letters with Jack. Jack experiences a flashback during his performance at the fair.
After reading the letter, he fell asleep drunk and Mel suffered a miscarriage scare. He promises Mel he will stop drinking and will pass out on the night of Joey’s marriage. Mel is concerned sick as the entire town searches for him. Mel also hears Jack’s story about his brother who died in an accident during childhood.
After Mel’s insistence that Jack get help, all of these events lead to Jack undergoing therapy following a recommendation by Preacher.
Joey announces her engagement to a high-school flame in town. Joey’s fiance is forced to cancel the wedding because Mel raises concerns about Joey’s apparent shotgun wedding. Mel eventually apologizes and plans a whole wedding and reception.
Jack eventually agrees to take the paternity exam. If Jack were Mark’s baby, Mark’s mother would not have any claim. These results show that Jack is the father. Jack proposes to Mel, and she agrees.
Mel tries to help Dr. Hayek feel at home by inviting him to dinner and getting to know him better. Mel develops feelings for him and he tries to support him when he learns about her pregnancy. When he learns about Jack’s problem with alcohol, he tries to tell Mel to leave Jack.
Mel’s reaction leads to a rift, and Dr. Hayek leaves the clinic. Mel worries that Dr. Hayek’s resignation could affect the clinic, particularly since she might need to be on bedrest at the end of her pregnancy. Mel accepts her resignation.
Virgin River season 4: the ending
Preacher started aikido classes to help him cope with the stress of Christopher’s absence. He ends up taking private lessons with the instructor after the beginner’s class doesn’t work out. Preacher and Julia, the aikido instructor, start to see each other and become very close. She comes across a drawing that shows Preacher, Paige, and Christopher. Preacher explains as much as possible that Paige’s story wasn’t his.
Christopher called Preacher using Vince’s telephone one night. Paige arrives unexpectedly after learning about Christopher’s kidnapping. In exchange for Christopher’s safe return, she offers to give herself up to Vince. Preacher doesn’t like this, but Paige tricked him and met Vince anyway. Christopher is back.
Preacher finds Vince in a cabin holding Paige and rescues him. Vince is then subdued.
Doc and Hope
Doc is concerned that Hope might be becoming isolated. He suggests that she returns to the sewing circle. Hope’s poor motor skills are evident when she attempts to deal cards. When Lily’s little girl Tara joins the group, she has a meltdown.
Hope says that Tara joined the group to help with her grief. Hope then leaves, saying that she was not ready to leave.
Doc meets his grandson Denny. Denny was raised in his grandparents’ home by his grandmother after his mother passed away. Doc learns that Denny’s father died just before Denny arrived in town.
After Mel discovers Denny’s entry to the controlled substance cabinet at the clinic, their relationship hits a rough patch. Doc grants him a pass, but later discovers that Denny was poring through the financial records of the clinic.
Further compounding the distrust is Lizzie’s discovery of prescription medication in Denny’s drawer under another name. Denny complies with Doc’s request and tells Doc he used the information regarding the clinic’s financials, and the money from his father’s life insurance to pay the mortgage.
Doc hears Hope confess to Doc that she is not comfortable leaving her home and going on vacations. Doc is furious when Hope vents her frustrations.
Hope lies about going to the neurologist and causes a huge argument between Doc and her. They agree to work together, including attending all doctor appointments.
Hope is asked to help plant a garden in Lily’s honor by the sewing circle. Tara is also open to supporting Hope and wants to spend some time with her.
Mike, Brie, and Brady

Brady survives a stabbing attack in prison. Jack feels guilty for Brady’s stabbing because he was being held for trying to kill him. Mel tries to soothe his guilt by reminding Brady that he made poor decisions, including working for Calvin.
Brie pretends to be Brady’s lawyer and gets in to Brady’s hospital room. He confesses his love and she promises to prove it.
Calvin threatens Brie to intimidate Brady. Brady contemplates running, but Brie prevents him from fleeing. Brady and Brie come up with a plan to get Calvin out of jail, but they soon realize that Calvin is being managed by someone else.
Brie also requests Jack to ask Mike to look into Brady’s case. Brie and Mike work together to find the exact location of the boat Calvin is hiding on, as well as the identity of the person who has bailed Brady.
They are unaware that Melissa, Nick’s sister, is in charge of the criminal enterprise. She attempts to convince Calvin to take her place after his death in the boat explosion.
Brie attempts to deal with the trauma of her sexual assault by seeking therapy. Brady is her confidante, but she refuses to go to therapy. When her attacker calls, she is shocked. Her attacker arrives at Virgin River to try to get Brie to sign an NDA. Brie confronts her attacker and tells him she will file rape accusations.
Lizzy, Ricky, and Denny
Ricky watches as Lizzy approaches Denny. He is preparing to go to boot camp to repair the relationship he created with Lizzie. As a way of showing his support, he uses the Romeo and Juliet performance. Lizzie initially opposes it, as the scene ends with a kiss. But she eventually agrees. He encourages Denny to spend time with Lizzy.
Lizzie is determined to make Denny feel more comfortable in her relationship, but he keeps stalling. She believes he isn’t interested in her and may be hiding something.
Ricky worries about his ability to complete basic training. Jack helps Ricky to deal with his feelings of inadequacy, and he is ready for departure. Lizzie accepts him joining the army, tells him she will miss him and arranges for the town’s celebration to send him off with banners and fanfare.
Ricky’s grandma decides not to go to the bus with him because she doesn’t want to get emotional in front of Ricky. She is supported by her friends.
Charmaine

Charmaine and Jack argue over Charmaine not telling Jack the gender of her twin. As Charmaine accepts that Jack is going to be with Mel, their relationship improves. Charmaine’s husband Todd seems less involved in her pregnancy. He doesn’t attend the gender reveal or baby shower anymore.
Charmaine is helped by Jack, who not only attends the event but also helps Charmaine. Charmaine calls Jack to end the season, stating that it is an emergency. Jack and Mel find Charmaine on the floor, crying. She cries before telling them about the incident and then she reveals to Jack that Jack isn’t her biological father.
What might happen in Virgin River Season 5?
To find out the answers, viewers will tune in to Virgin River season 5. Who are Charmaine’s twins’ father? Will Brady eventually agree to work with Melissa? Will the police discover that Melissa is a criminal when they visit her home? Nick, her brother, is he a part of the criminal enterprise? All of this will be answered in the next season.
Virgin River season 4 is now available on Netflix.
WHAT HAPPENED AT THE VIRGIN RIVER SEASON 4 ENDING

Like other dramas, Charmaine admitted that Jack Sheridan wasn’t her father after all. Charmaine calls it “karma” for her lying in pain.
Jack and she had been married at the time she had the twins. However, her confession about paternity will make Virgin River season 5 very interesting. It’s not the only storyline that ended in dramatic fashion in season 4, ahead of the next.
The revelation that Jack was shot earlier in Virgin River’s season 4 finale was still being felt. Vince, Paige’s brother and abusive ex-husband Wes was still taunting Paige, Preacher, and Christopher. Vince believed Preacher was responsible for Wes’ death and arrived in Virgin River to seek revenge. He also shot Jack after a brawl in his bar.
The final episode of Season 2 saw Vince try to force Paige into telling him where Wes is buried. He also threatened Christopher with death if she did not. Preacher intervened and knocked Vince unconscious.

Who is the FATHER OF MEL’S BABY IN VIRGIN RIVER?
Many long-running series have viewers on edge waiting for big answers. The biggest question in Virgin River season 4 was: Who is Mel’s father? Melinda Monroe, a series regular who was introduced in the first episode of the series, has been a fan favorite character. Her romance with Jack Sheridan, a bar-owner, faced a potential obstacle in season 4, when it became clear that her unborn child was paternal.
The truth about the Virgin River season 4 finale was finally revealed. After he proposed to Mel and made his commitment, regardless of what the outcome, they discovered that Jack was the father of Mel’s baby.
Mel and Jack, newly engaged, were clearly excited about this news. Their adventure to start a family looks a lot more smoother ahead of season 5.
However, Jack and Mel’s happy ending has not always been so obvious since season 3. Prior to moving to Virgin River, Mel had lost her daughter. She was also undergoing IVF in Los Angeles with her husband Mark. In the quiet Californian town, Mel felt the desire to become a mother again and Jack expressed hesitation. Mel decided in Virgin River season 3 to travel to LA to undergo IVF with the remaining embryos she had received from her previous treatment.
It was possible that Mark, who had died in the previous year, could have been the father. This is in contrast to Jack, who was planning to propose to Mel at the time of the announcement. With the confirmation that Jack is the father of the baby, Mel and he can move forward as a three-generation family with all the truth for their fans and for themselves.
WHO IS DENNY, AND IS HE SICK!
After a Virgin River Season 3 recap, anyone who has dived into Virgin River Season 4 will no doubt recall Kai Bradbury as a stranger searching for his grandfather Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins. He was revealed to be Doc’s grandson Denny Cutler in the fourth installment. After telling Doc the truth about his late son, Hope, he settles down in Virgin River and is warmly welcomed by Doc’s wife Hope.
There was uncertainty as the series progressed to Virgin River season 4, with Denny’s unusual behavior, including stealing medicine from Mel’s hospital and taking photos of his medical records. The suspicions of the locals (and viewers) were raised that he may not be Doc’s grandson.
This led to a shocking revelation in the final when Denny revealed to Lizzie that he had Huntington’s Disease. He tells Lizzie that he is afraid to commit to a relationship with her because he believes he doesn’t have one due to Huntington’s Disease.
