The comedy TV show Abbott Elementary debuted on December 7, 2021, on ABC Channel in the United States. The Television Series aired 57 episodes over 3 seasons and aired on Wednesdays at 9pm. It was created by Randall Einhorn, Executive Producer, and Morgan Murphy, Consulting Producer.

Each episode is 30 minutes long and comes out Wednesdays. Viewers rated the series with an average rating of 5.7.

Before Abbott Elementary Season 3

Abbott Elementary Season 2 Episode 19: All the teachers discover that Abbott Elementary is being turned into an Abbott Charter. They decide to come together to stop it from happening.

They attempt to get parents to sign their petition but no one is interested. So they gather together after school to devise a new plan. Barbara suggests that they convince the parents to sign their petition out of desperation. In order to gain entry, they throw an open house and get the parents to sign the petition.

Gregory is worried about not being able to draw enough people so Janine suggests inviting Tariq to be the headliner. Gregory doesn’t like the idea so Ava proposes a headliner.

Parents line up to attend the open house because Ava advertises (a trick) that Jazmine Sullivan would be there. The parents discover that Jazmine Sullivan is not there and they are tricked into signing the petition.

Gregory called Tariq for help. Gregory was able to get more signatures when he got up on stage.

Draemond shows up unexpectedly to deliver a speech on how the petition will hold Abbott back. However, his speech goes sour, and the parents realize that their children might not be able to attend Abbott Charter.

The school celebrates Draemond’s victory after booing him away. Draemond talks to Barbara, his former teacher, and confesses his grief.

Abbott Elementary Season 2 Recap

Jacob plays the role and one of his students answers in gibberish. He thinks it’s a language he doesn’t know, but we quickly inform him that it is a new sock puppet program that is on-trend. Johnson comes by, and although he doesn’t know much about it, he reveals that he is fluent in sock language and follows all the trends.

Teachers wait for the subject to be discussed at an assembly. Janine asks Gregory if she would like to sit beside him. She tells Janine that she and Gregory were at the teacher conference. It’s not strange to her now.

He sits next to her, and Ava introduces Mural Arts Philadelphia. Jacob tells the camera he has been petitioning for this for a while.

Ava suggests that a mural artist paint her apartment.

Janine’s friend Erica comes to pick her nephew up and gossips with Janine. Janine then tells Erica that she is going to end her relationship with Maurice. Janine believes that if she really cared about Mo, Gregory wouldn’t have kissed her. Erica says she doesn’t owe him any explanation, but Janine feels that she should.

Melissa approaches Barbara to tell her that someone plans on making Abbott a Charter school. Barbara dials the information line in a Jamaican accent to confirm her suspicions.

Jacob rushes to the break room, brimming with excitement. His students are currently working in Mural Arts to create the mural.

He took his place so that he didn’t have to influence their decision. Johnson mentioned that he was on the Wall of Flame at a local chicken joint.

The children announce their decision and want to paint the sock puppets instead of Philly legends like Will Smith or themselves.

Abbott Elementary Season 2 Ending Explained

Jacob spoke with the artist, and they agreed that the sock puppet idea was their favorite.

Melissa and Barbara discuss strategies to defeat charter schools. Ava questions them if they really want to do this. They list the many ways Charter schools can be harmful. Ava isn’t convinced.

Maurice visits Janine to surprise her with lunch, and then has an awkward conversation with Gregory.

Gregory walks by, and she agrees to go on a date with Mo. He said he wanted to go to Bonetown, a joint for ribs, with her. He agrees with her and she says that she must talk to him privately.

Jacob tries to convince his children to change their minds about the mural. He demands that they change the mural if they aren’t in agreement. They protest using sock language.

Janine and Gregory talk about their kiss. She tells Gregory she is going to end their relationship. Gregory promises to tell Maurice about their kiss. After a brief argument about who will tell Maurice, they decide to go to Bonetown together.

Jacob meets with Ava and the Mural Arts Artist to announce the design he selected. The children are unhappy about their choice. The Mural Arts artist tells them that the children must design it. They will also have to apply next year because it is too late to change.

Melissa talks with Jacob about how to balance leading children and allowing them to be themselves.

A former student was expelled from Addington, and Ava is happy to welcome him back. Then she joins Melissa and Barbara in fighting against the turning charter.

Janine and Gregory talk to Maurice about their Bonetown kiss. They tell him that it was nothing, and he isn’t affected. But when Janine and Gregory break up, he becomes angry and asks them to move.

Jacob shows the mural to students and staff. It’s a painting with sock puppets, but each student chooses a section to highlight their future goals. One student is the first black female astronaut president. One is a doctor. The other is Jacob’s teacher.

Abbott Elementary: The Plot

Janine doesn’t like working in constrained and strange conditions, especially after a scandalous incident with a colleague where she kicked a pupil with her foot. Everyone already thinks she is inexperienced and doesn’t believe she can handle difficulties. The girl is determined to obtain at least some funding and her classmates have to work together in order to steal from the office. They get sick of eating nothing but vegetables and decide to start a school garden. Janine realized that the committee would not consider complaints or petitions. She does not want to make her students difficult or hurt. The school’s quality should not be deteriorated, especially if the children are already behind. They should be encouraged, not stressed.

Quinta Brunson played Janine Teagues, and Tyler James Williams played Gregory Eddie in the TV series. Janelle James (Ava Coleman), Chris Perfetti (Jacob Hill), Lisa Ann Walters (Melissa Schemmenti), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Barbara Howard), and William Stanford Davis (Mr. Johnson).

Who will be appearing in Abbott Elementary season three?

It is likely that Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, and Chris Perfetti will all stay on for the next season. It is impossible to disband this ensemble! Ayo Edebiri may also be seen as Janine’s sister.

William Stanford Davis, also known as Mr. Johnson, is also likely to return. My votes go to Keyla Monterroso Méjia who plays Melissa’s assistant Ashley (where has she been lately, by the way?), Larry Owens who plays Jacob’s boyfriend Zach, and Shalita Grant who plays Janet the trauma counselor.

What’s the story in Abbott Elementary Season 3?

This is the beauty of shows such as this: I don’t know. This show is not based on any comic or book series. There isn’t really a plot to give us clues as to what will happen next. Will Gregory take the steps to achieve his goal of becoming a principal? He might even become vice principal. He might transfer schools. Is the charter school going to pull off some ridiculous stunts? Will Barbara retire? There are so many possibilities. It’s not worth worrying about. Quinta & co. will make it amazing no matter what.

When will Abbott Elementary return for season 3?

ABC has yet to announce when season 3 will air. But I think it will happen sooner than you might think. It is not a Netflix or HBO show that disappears after a year. They need to take the time to create, shoot, edit and add fancy special effects. The first season of Abbott aired between December 2021 and April 2022. Season 2 aired in September 2022. It will conclude in March 2023. My educated guess, a skill I learned from elementary-school teachers, TYVM, is that season 3 might premiere in September 2023.
