Season 2 Expectations and The Ancient Magus’ Bride Story
Hatori Chise has become tired and is desperate to escape her own life. It’s easy to see why her father and younger brother ran away, and why her mother committed suicide in front of Chise. As an unwelcome visitor, she moves to her aunt’s home and is labeled a problem child, driving her further into misery.
Chise sells herself into slavery in desperate need of a new home.
Her new home is a seven-foot tall humanoid with an animal skull for a head. It’s Elias Ainsworth, a mysterious magus.
Elias purchases Chise as a special apprentice for five million pounds.
Chise is a Sleigh Beggy; her special constitution makes her an excellent magus. However, she only has a very short life expectancy.
Chise, Elias and her father explore the world to find a cure. She also learns more about herself and the world that her family is trying to escape.
This beautiful retelling of a fairy tale in romantic colors is a literary marvel to behold.
The manga written and illustrated in Yamazaki’s style became a popular favorite outside Japan. The first season of the anime won Best Drama at the 2017 Crunchyroll Animation Awards.
Fans still love this anime despite five years of waiting and studio changes.
Fans now have reason to be excited as the second season will be “a little more lively [with] a slightly different atmosphere,” Takeuchi, voice actor, shares.
The Gakuin Arc will be the second season, and Elias & Chise will join the College to continue their research on the short life of a Sleigh Beggy.
Tanezaki, voice actor, comments that Chise’s transformation is the highlight of this story. She “will be involved with more people than ever before.”

Then he announces to her that she will eventually become his wife.
Review season 1
As many others, Mahoutsukai no Yome was something I eagerly awaited. Perhaps that was my mistake. I probably expected too much. Even anime that fails to live up to expectations often fail them so hard.
What went wrong? What happened to the plot? The characters? The worldbuilding? All of the above?
Let me start by saying what I loved about Mahoutsukai No Yome. It’s beautiful. Some scenes were magical, for lack of a better term. It’s also worth listening to the soundtrack.
Magus Bride is a beautiful production, with a wonderful world to explore. However, it falls flat due to its lack of subtlety and dull cast.
The side cast consists of characters with similar personalities, with very few exceptions. You wouldn’t be capable of identifying the majority of these cast members if you only described their personalities.
Chise, our heroine, isn’t much better. It’s really a shame. This story of a young woman who overcomes depression by falling in love and discovering a magical world has tremendous potential. However, the supposedly traumatized girl ends up sharing her dramatic and intimate backstories to everyone she meets. This happens all too often, making it difficult to believe that Chise was able to connect with people before the story.
Also, she makes a bad first impression. The only thing she does in the first few episodes is to sell herself into slavery. She can barely walk on her own. She’s obviously depressed. But a character should entertain, not be a living blob.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride News
In late 2013, The Ancient Magus’ Bride was first serialized as a manga in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade.
Although the magazine discontinued publication on September 1, 2014, a website was created to publish the manga series, including The Ancient Magus’ Bride.
Monthly Comic Garden purchased the manga’s printed publication at the same time Seven Seas Entertainment licensed it in North America in October 2014.
The fifth volume of the manga featured a prequel anime in three parts, titled The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Those Awaiting a Star.
Wit Studio created this anime in three episodes about Chise’s encounter with a mysterious library hidden deep within a forest. From 2016 to 2017, it was shown in Japanese cinemas.
The studio also produced 24-episode season 1, of The Ancient Magus’ Bride, during this time. Its broadcast began on October 7, 2017.
On March 29, 2021, another three-part production was announced, this time as an OAD.
It was confirmed that the anime, The Ancient Magus’ Bride: The Boy From the West and The Knight of the Blue Storm was the “first” part of a new project.
Studio Kafka was established in order to produce the OAD series as well as the subsequent projects.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride’s second series was the “second part”.
What’s the story of Season 2?

The trailer shows that the anime will follow the manga’s path. Crunchyroll describes season 2 as follows:
Chise was able to accept Elias as well as herself, even though she did not agree with everything about her life. Chise was able to return to her normal life after Cartaphilus fell into a slumber which would not last for long. She is then invited by the College, a mutual aid organization for mages.
“Under the British Library is a secret society made up of mages. New doors are opening up as people meet and interact with one another.”
