After what turns out to be a panic attack that leaves Kat ( Mayim Bialik ) in the hospital with a serious condition, she makes a big decision: the cat cafe must be closed.

After a dream in the which she has a conversation with Ted Wass (who played Bialik’s father, on Blossom), Kat tells her mother and friends that she needs a break. Although they are supportive, Randi ( Kylapratt and Phil ( Leslie Jordan), surprise Kat by revealing that they will keep the cafe open for her while she is gone. So, where’s she going? She spends time in Paris and, while Max ( Cheyenne Jackson ) might not be there with her in robes, Kat wonders.

Bialik discusses the Season 2 finale, and what might be next. (The comedy is yet to be renewed for a new season.

Mayim Bialik Kat may be having a complete breakdown. All the things that were secure for her are now falling apart. Even the overwhelming concern about Oscar Rivas’ proposal and the confusion she may still have for Max, all played into this. The Nick [Andy Favreau] aspect of it, as I’ve called it, has made things even more confusing and put a lot of pressure on her financially and emotionally. She needs to get out of this mess.

Kat clearly doesn’t love Max. But how does she feel about Max at the end Season 2? Is she sure?

Kat clearly doesn't love Max. But how does she feel about Max at the end Season 2? Is she sure?

There’s a lot to not know and that’s what Kat and I are trying to make comfortable in. It’s not easy to know everything and many people can relate, especially those who aren’t married. There is a lot to know, and a lot of decisions that must be made. Kat is at the crossroads of many of these. Max is at the crossroads of many of these. As a lot of people will tell you, when you don’t know something, you don’t know. And Max is still learning many things.

Let’s talk about the dream Kat had about her father. Did he, or at least a vision of him in her mind, make Kat feel like she was the only one she could trust to help her make the right decision about the cafe?

It was quite an honor to have Ted Wass, my Blossom days, make this special appearance for us. Kat’s motivation is a lot about her father’s lessons and the legacy he left her. This is what I believe we will explore in the therapy scene. It’s a sweet connection and a nod to the origins of the show. We have this character, but we do know that her father has died. This sets the stage for all these other things. It felt like a sweet way to put a stop to Season 2, to kinda revisit the reasons she made certain decisions regarding opening the cafe.

Even though Kat is now in a lot of uncertainty, how does she feel now about her life compared to the time we first met her? What has changed the most in her life?

Our Kat has been through a lot in two years. She was able to have a long-term, lasting relationship. This is something she really treasured. It didn’t accomplish all of the things she expected it to. In many ways she is back to where she started. But, as I remind myself, we never go back to where we started. This spiraling up gives her a lot of experience, insight, and perspective.

What can you tell us about Season 3? In terms of Kat’s career, love life and personal life after that time?

What can you tell us about Season 3? In terms of Kat's career, love life and personal life after that time?

Because the big “if”, which is still a problem for me, I don’t know. It’s not clear if there will be a Season 3 of the show, and that’s up to our writers. She could end up in many places. I can see her becoming a better version of herself. She could make changes. It’s thrilling to know that I don’t really know. It’s even more mysterious because we don’t know if Season 3 will be available. We hope that everyone will find out where Kat ends.
