It is easy to identify the characters by their looks and their personalities. Some of the characters fall into the unavoidable chasm I call the classic dere archetypes. There are two types: the happy and affectionate deredere and the sadodere who loves to play with emotions. It is difficult to enjoy series that follow a similar formula as other successful series. This is just like reading the same recipe for several weeks. We get bored of the same formula so we try something new or mix it with other ingredients. The same thing should be done with archetypes. Choose an archetype that isn’t commonly used or make a hybrid of two deres to add some freshness and enjoyment to the characters. The very himedere tsunhun, who has an aggressive personality and is determined to be respected, but makes herself uncomfortable because of her toxic side of wanting strong appearances. And the utsudere deredere, who struggles with a fear of unleashing her other side of the coin due to an incident she can’t forgive, while remaining optimistic for her comrade.

The authors have decided to add fan service to buffer against a reader’s fall in interest. This is done to make sure that the author doesn’t lose their enthusiasm. Takahiro is well-known as the author and illustrator of the classic manga series Akame Ga Kill, illustrated by Tetsuya Takashiro. It was a New York Times Bestseller that sold over 3.5 million copies. Due to low sales, Volume 8 (chapter 53), the sequel to Akame ga Kill was cancelled earlier this year.
