After the events of Chicago PD Season 8, we were left wondering what things would mean for Upton and Halstead. Upton kept a secret with Voight, which involved the death of the man who kidnapped and almost killed Burgess. Upton’s kill was good, but what happened afterward wasn’t right.

We spent the first part of the new season following the investigation into Roy’s disappearance. Of course, it was all eventually going to come out to Halstead. In the season 8 finale, Officer Kim Burgess was left fighting for her life after being kidnapped by a pair of dangerous criminals who shot and left her for dead.

However, she managed to get the strength to make it to a car parked outside of where she was being held captive.

Burgess then turned on the emergency lights before losing consciousness.

Her quick thinking helped the Intelligence Unit find her and get her to hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.

The series ended with Burgess fighting for her life.

Anticipated Plot of Chicago P.D Season 9

By the 8th season-ending, Burgess was missing on the job and because of this, all members from 21st District were shaken up. Feelings are running high as they each have their ideas about how to deal with the situation. Their predicament is complicated by the fact that some of their beliefs transcend what is ethical. Ruzek and Atwater have a different approach than Jay and Voight, so Upton finds herself caught in the middle of two competing models.

The ninth season will very definitely pick up where the eighth season left off, with the spectacular events of the eighth season finale. Burgess’s disappearance has ramifications not just for her employer but also for Makayla. Because Ruzek, along with Burgess, is the young girl’s custodial guardian, he may need to be the parental figure she needs in the latter’s absence. We may watch how Jay and Upton’s relationship develops. So brace yourselves for another action-packed and dramatic season at the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department.

Right now, there’s no reason to believe none of the characters will return. We were only concerned about Kevin Atwater at the beginning of the season because of the systemic racism/blue line theme.

Of course, the eighth season is still ongoing as of this writing. We might learn {that a} character isn’t returning, though there are currently no reports of this.

For now, the expected cast is Henry Voight played by Jason Beghe, Kevin Atwater the police officer played by LaRoyce Hawkins, and Jay Halstead the detective played by Jesse Lee Soffer.

Is Chicago PD season 9 on Netflix?

Unfortunately, the show is not available on Netflix. The streaming platform was home to Chicago Fire and Med, but licensing agreements for both shows have ended, and they are being taken off. Chicago Fire has already been removed, and Med will be taken off on July 22, 2022.

The ninth season of PD is available, however, on Hulu.
