Dangerous Liaisons, a romantic French film directed by Rachel Suissa, was released on Netflix in 2022. It is a free adaptation of the novel with the same title, by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. Transposed to the 2020s.

Celene, a teenager, believes in absolute love. She doesn’t use social media. She moves to Biarritz with her father and leaves Paris to be with Pierre. She meets the elite of her high school, including Tristan, an attractive surfer, and Vanessa, who was a child star and is active on Instagram.

Dangerous Liaisons Synopsis

Netflix adapts famous literary works all the time. After the July release of “Persuasion”, a movie based on Jane Austen’s novel, Dakota Johnson announced that “Dangerous Liaisons” would be released in July. The streaming platform also revealed the first images and the broadcast date for this summer romance, which is Friday.

The film is based on the 1782 epistolary novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. It features Paola Locatelli, a model and influencer. She plays the role of Celene. Alexis Michalik and Simon Rerolle give him the answer.

Dangerous Liaisons Season 1 Plot

Two aristocrats get bored in two sumptuous drawing rooms, one in Paris and the other on a chateau in a luxury estate in the countryside. Therefore, the Marquise de Merteuil creates a little intrigue to amuse herself and her ex-love, the Vicomte de Valmont. The Marquise realizes that Cecile Volanges is a young girl from a good family who has just left the convent to marry the Comte. The Marquise is having a hard time with this Comte and suggests to her that she seduce and debauch Cecile in order to make Gercourt look foolish.

The Marquise offers Valmont a proposal, which he accepts somewhat coolly. He already has his eye on another prey, the religious Presidente de Tourvel who is the chaste wife of a member. Valmont is not one to turn down a challenge and suggests that he and his Marquise take a different wager: if he can get written proof that he has slept in the Presidente’s bed, the Marquise should give herself over to him.

Starz will soon launch the adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ classic 18th Century novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses. The network revealed its first-look images and teaser trailer, and set a premiere date. The eight-part series will debut in November.

Dangerous Liaisons is the story of Merteuil & Valmont. It tells how they started as young lovers in Paris’s slums, and how they rose to the top of French aristocracy by a series of schemes and manipulations, and how they continue to oscillate between war and love.

It is a collaboration between Lionsgate TV and Harriet Warner (showrunner), Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment, Tony Krantz’s Flame Ventures, and Tony Krantz’s Playground Entertainment.

It tells the story of how the Marquise de Valmont and Vicomte de Valmont met as young passionate lovers in Paris at the dawn of the revolution.

Nicholas Denton and Alice Englert are the famous lovers. Camille is taken in and controlled by the Marquise De Merteuil (played by Lesley Manville). She uses the power of secrets and takes back control. Valmont will not stop trying to regain his title which was taken recently.

Stars include Kosar Ali and Carice Van Houten, Hilton Pelser. Warner said during the virtual TCA session that the series was a “prelude to” the novel and that she hopes it can continue over many seasons.
