This is a Japanese light novel series that Inori wrote and Hanagata illustrated. It was published online on Shosetsuka Ni Naro, a user-generated novel publishing site. Aichu Publishing acquired it and published the first digital light novel volume under their GL Bunko imprint in February 2019.

Official Announcement: I’m in Love with the Villainess Anime

On Tuesday, GL Bunko Studio announced that Inori’s novel series would get an anime adaptation. Teaser visuals and trailers were released to show some of the cast and crew. The series’ novel spinoff is called “I’m In Love With the Villainess Spin Off: She’s Such a Cheeky Commoner.” Hideaki Oba will direct the anime series at Platinum Vision.
Ayumu Hisao and Youko Satou will collaborate on the series’ composition. Noriyuki Ashuraka will be part of the music staff. Usagi To Uma will also contribute to the music of the anime. Hajime Takakuwa is the sound director. Yu Serizawa is currently playing Rae Taylor, and Karin Nanami plays Claire Francois. Others are still being added to the cast.

Rae is Rae’s best friend and roommate. Rae was her best friend and roommate. Her family was once a noble household, but after falling from grace they became commoners. Rae was not her old friend, and Misha realized that Rae might be her new friend.

Aichu Publishing published five volumes of the official light book digitally under their GL Bunko imprint, from February 26, 2019, to August 26, 2021. Hanagata illustrated the covers and added illustrations to the light novels. Ichijinsha announced in 2021 that they would start publishing light novels in paperback under their Ichijinsha Novels imprint. The first volume was released December 18, 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment announced in April 2020 that the light novel had been licensed to them in North America. Seven Seas Entertainment announced that they would release a new volume of volume 1 due to several paragraphs being omitted in the original localization decisions.

She is so cheeky for a commoner! This is Claire Francois’s perspective on the original series. It was first serialized online by Shosetsuka ni Naro on May 25, 2021. Aichu Publishing published their first digital light novel volume under the GL Bunko imprint. Hanagata returned to cover design and added illustrations. Seven Seas Entertainment announced at Anime Expo 2022 that they had licensed the spinoff for English publication.

Manga

Inori has written and illustrated a manga adaptation. It began serialization in Ichijinsha’s yuri manga magazine Comic Yuri Hime on June 18, 2020. Seven Seas Entertainment announced in February 2021 that they had licensed the manga adaptation.

Anime

On December 13, 2022, a television anime series adaptation was announced. It will be produced and directed by Hideaki Oba by Platinum Vision. The scripts were written by Ayumu Myao. Character designs were handled by Yoko Sato. Music was composed by Noriyuki Asakura. The series will premiere in 2023.

I’m in Love with the Villainess anime is adapted from the light novel Watashi no Oshi Wa Akuyaku Reijou written by Inori and illustrated by Hanagata. Published in Japan by Ichijinsha since December 2021, the book has been translated by Hanagata.

It was originally a web novel that Inori published on the Shousetsuka ni Narou site in January 2018.
