Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire Season 1 Finale, “The Thing Lay Still”, returns to Molloy and Louis (Jacob Anderson), again at the long dining table. The interview picks up from its last episode, with Louis’ revelations that he and Claudia would try to kill Lestat. Louis lists only three ways vampires can die: fire, starvation and decapitation.
Although Lestat may not be aware of the danger to his life, he becomes increasingly paranoid. As he tightens control over his family’s every move, this desperation becomes tyranny. He has made them all sleep in the same place, keeping neither of them out of his view as much as possible. Louis and Claudia have no other choice than to communicate telepathically with Lestat, which Lestat always hated.
Before Interview With The Vampire Season 2

Lestat’s ( Sam Reid paranoia) is largely due to the constant stream of candles, spells and Bibles left at their door. These offerings are seen by Lestat as precursors to their neighbors arriving at their home with pitchforks and torches. Louis and Lestat catch a man slipping an envelope underneath their doors. He was attempting to sneak an envelope under their door. Lestat and Louis drag him in to discover that he was trying to get a blessing from the Angels in 1132. Claudia ( Bailey Bas) takes the letter that he had slipped under the door to confirm what Lestat already knew, that the man was dying from cancer of the blood. He hoped that the vampires could save him. In Dubai, Rashid ( Assad Zman), enters the room to clean Louis’ bowl. Molloy looks at him suspiciously. Louis observes, but says nothing.
Lestat has reached the limits of his tolerance for risk after a close encounter with the blood of a sick man. Lestat has made the decision to move out of New Orleans. Louis suggests Greece. Lestat, however, has long been against the idea of going to Europe. He decides on Buenos Aires. Lestat and Louis are planning their departure. Claudia comes up with a plan to murder Lestat. Claudia is the final judge on Lestat’s murder plot, just as Lestat is final in their departure plans. Louis tells her that she will need his help, but she refuses to give any further details. Louis’ role is to distract Lestat by giving him what he wants: a faithful and devoted lover.
Claudia, Louis’ bad cop foil Claudia, mocks Lestat’s decision to leave New Orleans and accuses him of running from fear. She points out Lestat’s hypocrisy by running away from New Orleans under the cover of darkness and taking so much pleasure in torturing his victims. She suggests a fitting exit for their time in the city, to throw a huge party on the day of their departure. Louis rejects the idea and reminds her that they are socially unpopular pariahs, having been in decline for over a decade. Claudia points to the letter of the sick man as proof that their neighbors are more curious and less hateful.
Interview With The Vampire Season Review

Next, the scene shows the family of vampires in the back row watching a newsreel. They also establish the year as 1939. Claudia likens Lestat to the Nazis and describes them both as “well-dressed dictators.” Claudia’s farewell party idea is fuelled by this backhanded flattery. She suggests that the party should reflect the decadence of an earlier era.
She has an idea for Mardi Gras, and it is her idea by New Year’s Eve. The three vampires pay a visit to businessman-turned-politician Tom Anderson (Chris Stack). They haven’t spoken for seventeen years. Anderson is open about his suspicion of them and points to a photo from 30 years ago in which Louis and Lestat appear exactly the same. Lestat wants to be made King of Mardi Gras. Anderson smiles at him. Anderson is a Krewe Raj member, a secret society that organizes Mardi Gras celebrations. However, these events are not planned weeks ahead. Louis is familiar enough with Anderson to know his cost. One of Anderson’s merchant vessels that imported coffins from Europe had been destroyed by a German U-Boat. Louis would replace the ship if Lestat was crowned King. The family returns home after a month of intense planning, including designing their costumes and booking their passage to New Orleans.
“You seduced the seducer.”
Molloy is temporarily distracted by Louis’ story when he sees Rashid make a call from his phone while standing in the sun streaming through the window. Mardi Gras is back in New Orleans. Lestat is crowned King, and the party is a huge success with ball gowns and colorful masks. Each of the three vampires was given a few boutonnieres as invitations to their private afterparty. In preparation, they fasted for three nights. Claudia was right to expect that Louis fell in love with Lestat once again, and that he distracted him with affection. Louis is jealous of Lestat’s adoration and attention as he basks in the affection and attention from people with whom he used to flirt. He is hesitant to follow Claudia’s plan because of his love for Lestat, but he still wants Lestat to die so that no one else can have him.
Louis feels out of balance and hungry. He believes he hears someone calling him a dog telepathically. It isn’t Claudia. When he hears Tom Anderson’s voice, he fears losing control of reality. Tom approaches and explains that the building was designed by the same architect who designed the US Capitol. It also has whisper galleries. After this, Louis is at ease. However, Anderson points out that Louis should not have been hearing him through the music. Anderson believes that Louis has a witchcraft-like ability to hear. Anderson uses homophobic slurs about Louis and he puts a boutonniere on his lapel. As partygoers look on in disgust, Louis meets Lestat and they share one more dance.
Interview With The Vampire Season Ending Explained
The vampires gather their chosen ones and return them to their home. Only a select few will be able to access the secret of immortality. They meet in the dining room around a table. Lestat refers to their magic as an ancient, building exposition. Bored and drunk, Tom Anderson gets antsy. Lestat moves to the middle of the table and places a punchbowl. He explains that it contains the elixir, which he, Louis and Claudia have all consumed. The vampires reveal their true ages to increase their credibility. A shocked crowd looks on as Tom Anderson reaches for the bowl. He opens the lid and discovers that it is empty. Lestat exposes his fangs, and latches on Anderson’s neck. Louis and Claudia follow Lestat’s lead, feeding and killing while terrified onlookers scream in horror. Several of the men try to escape, but they are all locked up.
Louis and Claudia stand beside a guest who is drunk on his chair, saving him from Lestat. Lestat stops to examine the offering and only then opens the door to the townhome without saying a word. Lestat drops to his knees in front of the boy and begins to caress him. He carefully cuts the boy’s neck using his nail, and then watches the blood ooze out. He sniffs the blood and notices traces of rosemary. He suspects that he is smelling something else, and he asks the question. Louis and Claudia do not answer. Antoinette ( MauraGrace Athari) enters the room in a suit and a mask and says: laudanum.
Antoinette then reveals all details about Claudia’s plan. She dosed one partygoer with poison to imitate the stupefying effects and then waited for Lestat to eat dead blood. Lestat reveals that he brought Antoinette along to the party to spy upon Louis and Claudia. Antoinette recounts a telepathic conversation verbatim. Claudia exposes her teeth and the battle begins. Antoinette grabs Claudia, and drags her towards the dying body. Lestat restrains Louis and assures him that Antoinette is a better companion than Claudia.
Lestat suddenly becomes ill and starts to choke. Louis slips out of his grasp. He has been defeated by Claudia. The details of Claudia’s plot were perfect except that the boy sitting in the chair was not the one they had dosed. Claudia uses Antoinette’s shock to free herself and drive a fireplace poker through her heart. Claudia laughs at Lestat while Antoinette is dying. She reveals that she knew about Antoinette’s hiding for several weeks. The poisoned person she poisoned was Tom Anderson. Knowing that Lestat couldn’t resist a nemesis, she laughs at him. She tells Louis to say goodbye and kicks Antoinette on her way. Louis grabs a knife and cuts Lestat’s throat, while holding him in his arms. Claudia returns to the room armed with a pen and a notebook. Claudia returns to the room with a notebook and pen.
Louis and Claudia clean up after the feast by burning Antoinette’s body in the incinerator. Louis can’t burn Lestat’s corpse, Claudia wants. They wrap Lestat’s body in a blanket and throw it out with the trash. They pack a few things into their car before heading to the port. Instead of taking the ship to Havana Lestat had booked, they take the ship with the coffins that they gave to Tom Anderson back and head toward Europe.
“Louis can sometimes act out.”
Claudia’s diary is kept by Daniel Molloy. Molloy was not happy that pages were also taken from the journal. Molloy, even without the pages, can still see the anger and resentment Claudia felt about Louis during the immediate aftermath of their escape. He wants to know the reason. Louis offers a superficial explanation, blaming the trauma of vampirism transition, the loss to his family and partner, as well as the uprooting and reorganization of their lives, for the gap between them.
Molloy is far too familiar to listen to Louis’s words without questioning and has already discovered why she is angry. Lestat was made sick by the poison, but he hadn’t eaten any dead blood. Exsanguination does not cause vampires to die. Louis saved Lestat’s life by rescuing him from the incinerator. Molloy explains why trash is taken to the dump. This hotbed of rats, like Louis, has been home for many years. Louis is upset and Rashid intervenes to end the interview.
Molloy doesn’t respect Rashid’s authority. Molloy continues to slander Louis, calling him a pimp, a narcissist and accusing him for wasting their time. He also said that Louis behaved no differently from in their last interview. Rashid insists that he is the difference. He gently raises his head from the floor, grabs a book off a high shelf, and drops it at Molloy. There are many excerpts and clippings in the book about vampires. Rashid, who is over 500 years old, reveals that he is a vampire. He explained that sunlight loses its destructive power as vampires age and that Louis would likely have killed Molloy during their earlier interview if it hadn’t been for him to intervene.
Louis takes Rashid’s hands in his and steps back. “Molloy! I would like to meet the vampire Armand. He is the love of mine.”
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Release Date
The AMC+ Network has not yet announced what they will do with the television series Interview with the Vampire. However, Interview with the Vampire 2nd Season is expected to be released on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
Interview With the Vampire Season 2 plot: What’s next?

Only three characters are certain to survive the current day. We won’t name them yet, as they might be spoilers. However, even the ones who do not make it to the present day will appear in flashbacks sections in the past. With that in mind, you can expect to see these cast members returning for season 2.
* Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac
* Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt
* Eric Bogosian is Daniel Molloy
* Bailey Bass is Claudia
* Assad Zaman Rashid/Armand
Yes, Sam Reid will be back, despite the events that happened to Lestat during season one’s finale. Even if he isn’t around as much in the show’s main timelines, it’s possible that season 2 might be expanded by adding some of Lestat’s backstory to The Vampire Lestat, the second book in Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles.
In season 2, a lot of new characters will join the motley crew as the location shifts from New Orleans to different (sexy!) cities in Europe.
Interview with the Vampire is broadcast on AMC and AMC+ USA. An announcement has yet to be made about a UK broadcaster or the release date.
