Preview of anime

The MIX anime is based on Mitsuru Adachi’s baseball manga. It takes us 30 years past the events of Adachi’s famous Touch manga. It follows stepbrothers Touma Tachibana and Souichirou Takibana as they try to get Meisei High School back into the Koshien tournament.
“Mix Meisei Story” is a high school sports anime. It focuses on the lives of two stepbrothers as they try to make a name in their new school. It also includes romance and family drama. Although it is still a relatively new anime, “Mix Meisei Story” has a lot to catch up with other sports anime. However, looking at the amazing results it has had so far, it deserves more attention.
The anime has parts that remind you of “Slam Dunk” because it balances its touching drama scenes with serious, shounen-sport-centric action. The show’s animation and art style are a bit old-fashioned, which is probably why it isn’t as well-known. Even though it is a small Studio, the animation is excellent. The Mix Meisei Story is a great mix of slice-of-life and high school themes that anyone can enjoy.

Two boys, Touma Tachibana and Suichirou Takibana, are a catcher for their high school’s baseball team and a pitcher for it. Their school’s dream of playing in the big national tournament is now a distant dream and no one really watches Meisei High. We have a few plot points at play from the beginning so we’ll break them down into three parts.
First, the family dynamic. Because they look so much like brothers, Touma and Suichirou often get confused for one another. Despite their differences in personality, they are very different. They are actually step-brothers because each of them lost a parent and their surviving parents were married to each other. They also discovered that their family history revolves around Meisei High and baseball. This lends itself to a legacy they are continuing, even though they may not know it. This story was fascinating because it showed how each brother dealt with the loss of his family.
Next is baseball. The team soon discovers that Touma has been allowed to pitch and they now have a solid pair of catcher/pitcher. The race for the big game quickly begins, drawing the attention of students and other schools. As we begin to invite students from Meisei as well as other schools to get to know our characters, the story hits another great character-building milestone.
The back-story is the final dynamic. Although this doesn’t gain much traction until the end of the season, once it does, it becomes evident that Touma (and Suichirou) are very good at baseball. Their school, their town, and their families have high hopes that they will make it to the big games and win. Although the first season received 24 episodes, there is not yet word on a second. There is so much more to discover.
Review of anime

I am wrapping a Kaji Yuuki manga series and feel that I should write “Season Finale”, even though protocol requires “Series Review”. An announcement is not a guarantee of success. Mix’s popularity would have made another season inevitable, but that is not the problem. It’s simply not enough material, and a monthly manga accumulates it slower. Adachi Mitsuru is now in his 60s. This is a long age for such a physically demanding job as that of a mangaka. Our sequel will be available, and hopefully the conclusion. But that is only if his pitching drawing arm can hold up.
Talking of… Last week, I noticed that a large part of me just wanted it to end. Although I realize this is fiction, it hurts physically to see high schoolers, especially one like Touma, abuse their arms the way he and Mita do. No pitcher should ever be required to pitch 14 innings. In real life, it would likely not only be Souichirou who was seriously injured in a crucial game. Haruka’s questions were pertinent to her father, but not relevant – regardless of the cost, the price of denying a boy his potential livelihood and the sport he loves is much higher than the cost of a good pitcher. The finale was an unforgettable one.
Mix has a unique combination of familiar and undiscovered elements. This is why Mix is different from the Adachi baseball manga. Although I find the author predictable, that is part of what makes Mix so appealing – he is the ultimate sasuga storyteller. Touma and Meisei were certain to lose the game. It is not clear how this happened. It happened.
It happened the same way as it did to Kitamura Kou during his first Koushien run (though that was his second year). If that isn’t familiarity, I don’t know how. However, I don’t recall any of the errors that led to Cross Game’s fatal moment. Poor defense is a part of the Meisei team. Also poor hitting and overall poor baseball, with the exception of the occasional big hit by someone else. It is somewhat anticlimactic to lose due to a pitcher’s throwing error, but that is not the point. It’s symbolically important that Kou and Touma did not lose because of their pitching. This ep deviated from the expected is indicative of what makes Mix unique among Adachi’s series. Because of the sentimental and mysterious way Adachi connects Mix with the people, events and places of Touch, it’s retro-looking by design. The surprising thing about this episode was that it was Eisuke, Touma’s father, who was at the heart of most of the emotional nexus points. Although he was not part of Touch per se – that was his generation. His experience with Sou’s father’s injury has shaped his life in many ways. Adachi doesn’t intend to show us emotional moments between characters. Mix, however, has been relentlessly brutal with flashbacks. This week was no exception. We see that Touma is, in large part, doing this for his dad. He has seen the hardships Eisuke went through, and he knows how much he sacrificed for his son. And he also knows how much Meisei means to him. Mix is the Adachi series that has most focused on this theme. We all owe a debt of gratitude to those who have gone before us, whether they are living or dead. This could be called a ghost story because the phantoms from those past moments on the VHS tape fade into the background as the children move on with their lives. Mix by necessity is now all about the future for both sides of this fourth wall.

The matter of another 10th grade phenom is something Toushu will have to deal with, though it remains to be seen if Mita would offer any help. There are two more years of Touma’s and Souichirou’s careers. Touma is a genius pitcher who is also a “thief” and Souichirou is the catcher who makes no mistakes in baseball. The affairs of the heart, which always go hand-in-hand with the baseball in Adachi series such as this one. Now the waiting begins. A chronic ache, rather than acute pain (it was rugby at fault) that resulted from a week of delay following Episode 23’s penultimate cliffhanger. The decision is mine whether I want to go back to the manga or not. Given the uncertainty over Mix Season 2, I am leaning towards going back to the manga at this point. The ending is especially disappointing because Adachi anime doesn’t always end in the middle. Maybe it’s time to rewatch Cross Game, which has been several years. Mix might not be on the same level as the series, but it gives the impression that all we have seen so far is the prologue and that there’s much more to come.
Plot Details!

This story is a continuation from the manga Touch. As a sequel to 1985’s manga Touch, a new generation takes the helm. The series centers on Touma and Suichirou who are ace baseball players for Meisei High School. The school’s baseball team has finally had a chance to return to the nationals thanks to their incredible skills. The Koshien Tournament is also known as the nationals. As the stepbrothers follow their father’s lead, tragedy ensues.
It will be interesting to see what happens to these brothers as they attempt to regain the goodwill of their school. What will happen to their lives? Or will they choose to fight and get up again?

Mix Meisei Story Characters:

Souichirou Tachibana
Touma’s older stepbrother, Souchirou, is very athletic and well-known for his strategic thinking. He uses his intelligence in baseball games more often than not, especially when he is positioned as the catcher. Otomi is his younger sister and he is very protective of her. Touma is often asked to leave everything he’s doing and go with their younger sister. Although he can be competitive, he eventually gives up his position as a pitcher to his brother. He is also very attractive and has dated many girls through middle school. He falls for Haruka later in life, but he never feels the same for her. He doesn’t give up, and he still tries to spend as much time with Haruka as possible by visiting the ramen shop where he works part-time.
Touma Tachibana
Touma, Souichirou’s younger brother, joined the Tachibana family at the age of 6. His cheerful, outgoing personality draws people to him. Coincidentally Souichirou was also born the same day as Touma. Touma, later trying to match his brother’s speed, eventually becomes a better pitcher. His brother is the catcher and his brother is the pitcher. In his final year of middle school, he becomes an ace pitcher and he keeps that title in high school.
Otomi Tachibana
Otomi, the Tachibana’s youngest sister, is a popular and beautiful girl. She is an accomplished flutist in the school’s brass band, but unlike her brothers she is shy and reserved. Touma’s outgoing nature helps her get along well with others. This is why she spends more quality time with him and cooks for him.
