POWER BOOK III: Raising Kanan Season 2 Episode 9 Review
There wouldn’t be a Power series if there wasn’t a good deal of murder in the final episode. Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 2 episode 9 had a lot of deaths, most inconsequential overall but still there nevertheless as we prepare for a very decisive last hour. Raq is setting herself up to be successful in the future, while Kanan’s gap grows. This makes it difficult to imagine what could happen to bring them back together.
Raq’s greatest strength is her ability to see the future. She is often underestimated by the men around her. However, she uses this to her advantage and plays into their perceptions until it’s time for her to move. Since the beginning, she has been Cartier. She allows him to dine with her, while learning more about his business operations and planning a way for her to incorporate it into her own. Her main purpose in moving to Newark was for more revenue.
Cartier was kind enough to offer us his business for free when he shared all of the secrets about how he has become so successful. Since he was born, Cartier has had his own plans. He is motivated by the desire to have more power and influence. Lou-Lou is the reason he joins Cartier in the studio, and it’s also why he attempts to take over half of Raq’s business. Cartier is not a mentor. Cartier is not a mentor.
Raq and her family get a lot out of Killing Cartier. It frees Traymont and also allows Lou-Lou to go back in the studio as sole owner. Given that she is on the brink of a major fight against the Italians, any allies that she can gain are for the greater good. It’s difficult to see how Raq has a chance given the current situation. Although we haven’t seen the Boselli’s from far away, many people mention them enough to know that they are a formidable opponent and have more boots on Raq’s ground than Raq. It may not be enough for a win to bring in outside shooters.
It’s still interesting to hear Raq’s plans, even though she knows she won’t win the war. But that’s beside the point. It’s important to respond to them enough to let her know who she really is and who her people are. Raq doesn’t mind getting dirty but it’s hard to believe she hopes to be back in negotiations with Sal.
The family heads into battle without Kanan. Even though Lou-Lou still has his own things, he does show up when it is necessary. He kills Jimmy, and is there to help Raq take down Cartier. Marvin is available for any task he’s assigned, even though his new outlook may have negative results.

POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN STORYLINE
As Ji Yul and Ja Yeong continue to sneak around the city on covert outings, he takes her on a clinic tour. This series is a major step up from the previous entry, Power Book 2: Ghost. The primary reason for this is that the young actor who plays the lead role is considerably more talented than the kid who portrays Tariq St. Patrick. Simply put, I find him to be quite unlikeable, and I’m always aware that I’m witnessing an actor putting on a role. The person who portrays Kanaan is trying his best to impersonate 50 Cent, but the rest of the ensemble is excellent.
This is a wonderful series that can be watched by itself, but Power fans captivated by the first series will find it much more compelling because it ties some loose ends together. I hope they explain to us when Kanaan first met Ghost and Tommy and how everything got started.
If you were dissatisfied with the “Power Universe” after the second series regarding Ghost’s son, like I was, then you should try this one. If you loved the first one, you’d most probably enjoy this one as well, as he runs in Seoul.
