Raised By Wolves Season 3 Release Date

Hello friends, welcome back to nntheblog, and today I want to talk about something slightly controversial but also very necessary for the fans left behind by season 3 of Raised by Wolves.

Our favorite popular sci-fi series was canceled after two very successful seasons on HBO Max and left behind some major cliffhangers.

Why Was Raised By Wolves Season 3 Canceled?

Why Raised By Wolves Season 3 Cancelled ?

Many fans are still wondering what went wrong, especially after actor Abubakar Salem made a series of tweets suggesting that the series might be renewed by another network.

Fans rallied and petitions were signed, but alas, this incredible series was not picked up by anyone. So what was the reason this beloved series was canceled at the height of its popularity?

I think I feel my dragon senses tingling and it’s time to talk about the giant snake in the room. HBO made some major changes in the last few months when Warner Bros. Media merged with Discovery, and they essentially canceled a bunch of series on several networks, including HBO Max.

TNT, TBS, and CNN, including Raised by Wolves, were canceled even though it was one of the best shows on HBO Max since the launch of the platform. I talk about that in more detail in another post.

Why Raised By Wolves Season 3 Cancelled ?

But I think there is another reason that affected “Raised by Wolves,” and that was a little series called “House of the Dragon.”

House of the Dragon is a spin-off of the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones. Shortly after the end of season 8 of the hit fantasy series, its prequel was announced as a series.

HBO made the big decision to expand the world of Game of Thrones by building it into something like the Star Wars or Marvel universe, which are both very lucrative for Disney Plus. Don’t get me wrong, Thrones fandom was a packed house and held out for this new series. But we can’t ignore the striking coincidences that “House of the Dragon” and Raised by Wolves had in common that I believe led to the cancellation of Raised by Wolves.

Raised By Wolves Vs Game of thrones

Namely, a giant serpentine creature and a divine female figure – two things that, historically, have been the victims of a huge effort to suppress what they really represent.

If you’re a fan of these shows, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Whether it’s Thrones or House of the Dragon, we’re going to have a dragon queen incarnate. Dragon queen, a rare and near-perfect specimen of humanity apart from normal men.

Normal men, we have seen with Daenerys Targaryen, the last of her name and the blood of ancient Valyria that were the blood of the dragon. The Targaryens and the House of the Dragon already speak of being closer to the gods than to men because of their relationship with dragons. Men equate the power of dragons with the power of the Targaryens, and we now know that dragons are the protectors of humanity from the long night ahead.

On the other hand, Raised by Wolves displays the main character as Mother, or Lamia, who is an android programmed with the ability to create human life and destroy it very easily. She and her father are programmed and tasked with raising the last of humanity on a new planet when the Earth is slowly destroyed by humans. The Mother is programmed to be all-knowing, caring, and loving and to raise the children with atheistic beliefs that encompass technocratic knowledge so that they rely on themselves to survive rather than on a fictional god.

However, the Mother is impregnated by a sentient alien signal and gives birth to a powerful serpent, Number Seven. Among the heavy religious imagery and history, we can see that the Mother and Number Seven represent the primordial life forces in a creation myth.

“Raised by Wolves” was a creation story on another planet, and a damn good one, and so now you can start to see what I’m talking about.

I’m talking about two series that encompass creation mythology, including divine wisdom, feminine wisdom, and the snake. Dragons, snakes, worms, wyverns, they’re all interchangeable, and there’s also a huge effort to vilify the power that they represent. Dragons that demand virgin sacrifices and are killed on holy nights. Hoarding dragons that live in smoking mountains or caves, or deceiving snakes of seductive women in the Garden of Eden.

As you can see, many of these stories are framed in a light that connects the influence of snakes on sacred knowledge and a divine female awakening, and historically speaking, this scares men. This is the underlying message of the story of the dragon dance: Rhaenyra denied her divine rights as queen of the dragons because of the fears of ordinary men.

Now, while we might all find these performances harmless and entertaining, consider how these stories might have been received a few hundred years ago.

Probably not well. The stigma and habits of sexism persist in our culture, and maybe I’m wrong, but I can see how it might affect decisions made in Hollywood, which, you know, is one of the most misogynistic places in the world. It’s a huge message from HBO if they were to have not just one but two shows embracing the divine feminine and her serpent consort.

I have a feeling that the real reason “Raised by Wolves” was canceled was because HBO had already invested all of their dragon eggs in the world of Thrones, and House of the Dragon was already in production. It seems that they had to choose a serpentine creature and a goddess figure, and the decision was already made in 2019 when they started creating House of the Dragon. While “Raised by Wolves” reigned as the number one show on HBO Max for a considerable time and was one of their most successful shows to date.

HBO knows how incredibly lucrative Game of Thrones has been and what a gold mine House of the Dragon is. Yes, Game of Thrones has generated over 2 billion for HBO over its 8 seasons.

Let’s be honest, “Raised by Wolves” can’t live up to that. Martin’s world has the potential to expand even further. Before ordering House of the Dragon, there were rumors of a series based on the history of the North and the Starks, and another bringing the tales of Dunk and Egg to the screen. It’s just more money in the bank for HBO, and it’s something that Wolves can’t compete with. “Raised by Wolves” was one of the most creative, innovative, and captivating shows I’ve ever seen. Each episode was crazier than the last, and believe me, I’m pissed that we don’t find out what happens to Mother, or why Marcus was a reverse necromancer, or who or what the devil was. We’ll probably have to wait for an animated series, another graphic novel, or books for the rest of this story.

I will wait patiently like my mother in the simulator pod for the glorious day when Aaron Guzikowski announces how he will share the rest of the story with us. The “save the wolves” movement is still very active, and a petition is circulating to renew the show.

  • Ethan Hazzard as Hunter

What Are the Questions to Be Answered In Raised By Wolves Season 3?

Will Grandmother achieve her master plan?

Grandmother’s eloquence was perhaps the most surprising twist in the Raised By Wolves season 2 finale. Father (Abubakar Salim), who discovered the remains of an ancient android in the early episodes, gradually realized he could “regrow her.” Campion dubbed the result Grandmother (Selina) after the ancient android she found in Kepler-22b’s olden days. This was before the planet’s original population mysteriously disappeared. She initially appeared to be benevolent and offered to transfer her sensory veil to Lamia (Mother), so she could stop Number Seven from killing.

This was actually just one step in Grandmother’s plan to get Lamia to stop her from getting in the way of her plans to start working with Kepler-22b’s new humans. Grandmother and her android friends were the ones who stopped Sol’s ancient human society from waging war on Sol thousands of years ago. They devolved humans into the sea creatures that we saw in season 2. According to Sol, Sol fell asleep after there was no longer any “human” life form on Kepler-22b. The planet then stabilized.

The arrival of new human beings has awakened the alien entity, giving it an opportunity to devastate the planet. Grandmother does not want to give up on her old ways and distributes a video game module to bored Collective residents. This will eventually lead to them devolving. This is a major cliffhanger because nearly every human character on the show now is in great danger. The devolution was already evident in season 2, with some viewers commenting on the increasing palatability of the alga they were growing from the acid sea.

Lamia is the only person who has any idea of Grandmother’s plans. She might be able to stop her before it’s too late, but she’s…indisposed.

Marcus Drusus, and his destiny?

Marcus Drusus (Travis Fimmel), also known as Caleb, before he killed Marcus and stole his identity and face, was an intriguing character whose delusions about the future often led him to commit terrible acts. Marcus Drusus (Travis Fimmel) and Sue Algar (Niamh Algar) murdered two Mithraic, and then had an Android perform plastic surgery on them to make it possible for the fallen zealots to take their place on the last planet-wide convoy.

Marcus’s Mithraic comrade Lucius, Matias Varela, was just about to crucify him upside-down on the tree that grew from the corpse of snake-baby Seven. We knew that there was a crazy ulterior motive for the whole thing because Sol instructed him to do it.

The finale of Raised By Wolves season 2 is Marcus. He was seen floating above the tree in an upside-down version of the Necromancer flight pose. Season 2 explored the concept of botanitech, or biologically-grown technology. This was from the Tree of Knowledge to Grandmother.

Sol transformed Marcus using the botanitech into an android. This might be the greatest cliffhanger of all Raised by Wolves season 2.

What’s the true nature of Sol?

What's the true nature of Sol ? Raised By Wolves

We still have a lot of questions about Sol, the alien signal that was being disguised as a deity. Season 2 revealed that the signal appears to be coming from the center of the planet. We know from a few sequences before, such as Marcus’ descent into Mithraic temple season 2 or Mother and Father’s journey through the planet’s core season 1, that there is a vast network underground of tunnels and unsolved mysteries.

How did Sol get there? Is it always been there? Is it really trying to destroy Kepler-22b back in the ancient days? Grandmother revealed that Sol had been trying to destroy Kepler-22b in ancient times. This is why the human population became sea creatures. Sol then fell back into sleep, apparently without any humans to control or manipulate.

However, that was not the case as Sol discovered ways to manipulate Earth’s human population to find Kepler-22b.

Sol is the mystery of Raised by Wolves. It’s the mystery that all mysteries revolve around. It is difficult to swallow the hard pill of ending the show without giving more details.

Will Campion be the leader of humanity?

Season 2 of Raised by Wolves introduced us to the Atheist Collective on Kepler-22b. This sect is made up of humans who follow the orders of a sentient quantum computer called the Trust. Although the Trust seemed to be programmed to lead humanity with a strong hand, it insisted that it would “pass the baton” when a suitable human with the right traits had been identified. Mother Amanda Collin deactivated Trust as a retaliation to Paul’s death. She claimed de facto control over the Atheist colony, but she insisted she would also pass the baton.

Mother, however, knew who she wanted to hand the baton to. Campion (Winta McGrath), the only child born artificially by Father Kepler-22b and her, was the only survivor. Mother was biased in her belief that Campion should be the leader of humanity. Campion has proven time and again that he truly understands both humans and androids. Campion, who was raised by androids and never lived on Earth, has a unique perspective that is well-suited for bringing people together. He is technically the only person, other than Tempest’s child, who is actually native to Kepler-22b.

Season 2 spent some time looking at how Campion might respond to leadership. Mother encouraged him to take on the role gradually. Raised by Wolves definitely will address the question of whether Campion would bring Kepler-22b residents together one day.

Do you know of any other snake-babies?

Do you know of any other snake-babies? Raised By Wolves

Another major element of Raised By Wolves season 2 was Number Seven. This gigantic flying serpent, which I affectionately called snake-baby, was a huge part of Raised By Wolves season 2. Mother discovered that Sol had impregnated her. She was shocked when the flying snake she gave birth to wasn’t a human but a flying serpent. Despite Mother’s best efforts to kill it, Number Seven survived. She grew to an enormous size in season 2.

The arc of Snake-baby was quite large throughout the season. It began as a frightening but harmless herbivore. Number Seven flew away after the Tree of Knowledge was planted. Botanitech had gruesomely turned Sue into a living tree. The Tree’s true nature and the fleshy Sue-fruits it produced were meant to be eaten by the serpent. It did this by gaining a hardwire to Sol’s strength that could work even in the tropical zone. It grew eldritch tentacles, which made it more aggressive and powerful.

Mother killed a lot of people and chased Campion because of brotherly jealousy. Mother then put an end to Number Seven when she donned a sensory dampening mask that would allow her to harm the serpent despite her caregiving protocols. The most dramatic moment of the season 2 finale was their showdown in space.

After snake-baby had died, a second small tree emerged from its body. Marcus was later nailed to it, and it would transform. We can therefore assume that it had the same hardwire connection as Sol.

What is the relationship between this serpent, Sol, and other ancient creatures? Were these ancient Kepler-22b creatures? What is more, would they have been seen more if the show continued?

Will Lamia be released from her prison cell?

Grandmother had to find Kepler-22b’s strongest opponent to her in order to carry out her human-devolution plan. Mother is aware that humans are devolving at the eleventh hour. But it’s too late. She is left helpless because the sensory veil that she wore all through the finale became a cocoon around her.

Lamia was put into a stasis pod by Grandmother, who took advantage of this opportunity. It is chilling to see their final confrontation. Lamia vows to destroy the android and escape. She’s unable to resist, and Grandmother locks her away to allow her to continue her plan to make all Kepler-22b humans sea monsters, so Sol can go back to sleep.

Mother is the main character of this show. It’s unlikely she will stay in stasis long, especially when a character such as Father or Campion begins to see through Grandmother’s lies. Lamia will eventually be found out by someone, and they will help get her out.

But who and under what circumstances? What kind of damage will Grandmother do by then? This is a cliffhanger, which would have required immediate attention in season 3.

Rating

Everybody judges a show based on their score. Shows’ chances of staying in the air are often determined by their scores. Higher scores indicate a higher chance of survival. The program received a fantastic score of 7.5/10 on IMDb. Rotten Tomatoes has the same score at 77%.

Reviews

Although it feels like the series is going wrong, the pilot was enjoyable, and the trailer is captivating. Ridley Scott is a great choice, as it could have been a huge success if he had directed all episodes.

Raised with the help of Wolves so far seems to be intelligent and engaging. Mother’s role is played by an outstanding actor. The script is beautiful! The most eagerly awaited season of Raised By Wolves will be the third.
