People are excited about That ’90s Show season 2. After season 1 ended with a surprise for Leia, The That ’90s Show takes place fifteen years after the ending of That ’70s Show. It’s about Leia Forman’s problems and how she gets along with her friends while she stays in Point Place with her grandparents, Red and Kitty. The ’90s Show also has Eric, Donna, and Jackie from That ’70s Show. Fez, Jackie, and Kelso are all part of a new group that does things like having Circles in the basement and partying on the Water Tower. Red and Kitty lie to them to get out of town just as their parents did 20 years ago.

This hilarious reboot of the classic series That ’70s Show was created in 1995. Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) is visiting her grandparents in Point Place during the summer. Leia, desperate to find herself, makes new friends and meets Jay, the son of Michael and Jackie (aka Ashton Kutcher/Mila Kunis), who make a cameo appearance in the series.

After visiting Eric’s Point Place home and spending time with her grandparents Kurtwood Smith and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp), Leia decides she would rather spend her summer in Wisconsin instead of going to camp with her dad. Leia finds new friends, much like her father’s old buddies. She also forms close bonds with Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide), Ozzie (Reyn Doi), Nikki and Nate (Maxwell Acee Donovan), as well as Jay (Mace Coronel), who is the son of Jackie Burkhart and Michael Kelso.

Although That ’90s Show has yet to be renewed for Season 2, it topped Netflix’s most-watched lists in its first weekend. It received strong reactions from nostalgic fans. Jay is the one Leia falls for, even though she manages to get a kiss from an ice cream counter worker in the mall in “Lip Smackers”. They quickly become an item and soon realize their mutual attraction. Leia has an awkward moment with Nate at the end of the series. They almost kiss but Gwen interrupts their embrace. Gwen can accept and process what she sees, but Leia is still confused.

Leia’s panicky emotional state can be attributed partly to her anxiety about leaving Wisconsin. Although she feels like “just one of them”, the summer seems to go by quickly and Leia must return to Chicago with her parents. Leia is not surprised to get emotional when Donna arrives to pick her up. Her new friends wish her a warm farewell and drive her off with her mother. Jay tells her he would like to have a long-term relationship, but Leia cites her confused emotions and promises to keep in touch with Jay once she arrives in Chicago. The series ends with a montage of Polaroid photos that chronicle the adventures of the children. It’s a fitting tribute to 1990s nostalgia.

The Characters Take on New Paths

A romance of another generation is brewing as Nate and Gwen’s eccentric mother Sherri (Andrea Anders) begins dating the returning That ’70s Show character Fez (Wilmer Valderrama). Fez, a socially awkward foreign exchange student, has become the most well-known hair stylist in Point Place. Fez has an opportunity to show his love for Sherri when a tree fell on her property. This incites Fenton’s anger (Jim Rash). Fez has a dream in which he sees old friends Eric, Donna, and Kelso. This inspires him to forgive Fenton who gets new extensions after removing the tree from her property.

While Nikki is unaware of her boyfriend’s intimate moment with Leia and leaves their relationship in relative safety, Nate starts to worry about Nikki’s ambitious future plans. Although Nikki says she plans to leave Wisconsin after she graduates, Nate and she find a way for them to keep in touch. Ozzie feels accepted by Kitty after he confides his homosexuality to Kitty. While he doesn’t know how his parents will react, Kitty accepts his identity.

Kitty also took a new direction when she was hired as a school nurse. Although Kitty was worried about being overwhelmed and returning to work, Nikki helped her prepare for the interview and assured her of her worth. Red might have expressed his disapproval at the idea of her returning to full-time work, but he showed up at her interview last minute to give her the resume she had left behind. Red isn’t too unhappy, however, he was able to gift Leia the Vista Cruiser as “the best birthday present ever”. It surpasses the karaoke machine her grandfather Bob (Don Stark) gave her.

Netflix should continue its solid track and quickly renew the series, as Leia is eager to spend the next summer in Wisconsin, with her grandparents and friends. We’ve seen brief appearances from the original show’s cast, but it would be great to see Jackie, Donna, Fez, and Kelso reunite for a reunion. Everyone would be able to “hang out down the street” with a second season.

That ’90s Show Season 2 Release Date

Although there isn’t yet a release date for season 2, That ’90s Show was renewed quickly, which is quite unusual for a streaming service. Although some have criticized the streaming service for removing shows too quickly, it seems that this sitcom was an easy decision. We can only hope that the next season of the sitcom, 2024, will be as funny as the first.

Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon) are happily married in Chicago, and parents to Leia (Callie Haverda), a shy, awkward teenager. Eric visits Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) and Red (Kurtwood Smith) in Point Place, Wisconsin on the Fourth of July. Before Eric and Leia head off to their father-daughter camp retreat, Leia and Eric visit Kitty’s parents. After she has made a connection with Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide), the “riot grrl” next door, and her friends, Leia asks to spend the remainder of the summer with her grandparents. Gwen, Gwen’s grunge music lover; Nate, Gwen’s himbo half-brother (Maxwell Acee Donovan); Nikki, Gwen’s controlling, witty girlfriend (Sam Morelos); Ozzie, the sarcastic realist (Reyn Doi); Jay Kelso, Mace Coronel – yes, Jay Kelso, Jackie Kelso, (Mila Kunis) – are her new basement friends.

The ’90s Show maintains the same format and tone as the original series. They spend their summer having fun with random things, such as going to a rave, picking up stuff from the Pennysaver, and engaging in deep, funny discussions. Leia, who is essentially the girl version her father was as a teenager, is a charming wallflower. Like Jackie and Michael Kelso, Nikki and Nate are a shallow and incompatible couple. Ozzie, a queer Asian child living in Wisconsin, is similar to Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), also known as an outsider. Gwen is a rebel just like Eric’s friend Steven Hyde (Danny Masterson). Jay, the love interest, is a dopey version of Donna. The formula works if it worked before. Yes, to a certain extent. Although the characters are funny individually, especially Ozzie, whose sardonic one-liners were hilarious, as a team they lack the chemistry necessary to believe in their relationship drama. Even the season finale felt unearned and flat, even though it ended on an emotional cliffhanger.

With its music and subtle call-outs to Glamour Shots and snap bands, Blockbuster and even Clerks, the show is well-suited for the 1990s. It’s funny to see Red and Kitty adjust to changing times by being introduced to the internet. Kitty believes the government can listen to everything via the internet at one point. Kitty whispers to the computer, “I loved it on Arsenio Bill” – referring to Bill Clinton, the president at the time, on The Arsenio Hall Show in the ’90s.

It’s the series’ connective tissue with the original Kitty, Red, Fez, and all the other cameos that make it work. Inside gags and Easter eggs are plentiful for fans of That ’70s Show, with the pilot episode being especially full of references. For those who are curious about what happened to Hyde and the other beloved characters (due to Masterson’s legal problems), it will be a delight. Rupp, Smith, and Valderrama all return to their roles as if nothing has happened, with Valderrama taking every scene. It is fun to see familiar characters and new faces in the series. However, it can be difficult for some viewers to understand the humor or the inside jokes. While the appearances of Leo (the ’70s icon Tommy Chong) made sense in That ’70s Show, some viewers won’t be able to understand his role as a stoned hippie in this series.

The ’90s Show shines when it relates to the original series. This is especially true for the high circle and the dealings with Red and Kitty. This is placing too much emphasis on the older cast members. Instead, the show should be focusing on the children of today – or in this instance, the kids from the ’90s. They can improve their performance if they are given another season. Teen characters are capable of being even more than their predecessors. However, nepotism is only a temporary solution.
