What does Maggie know?

This episode of The Afterparty’s 8th Episode opens with Danner interviewing Maggie to find out what she knows. Maggie admits that she was able to break into the party through her humorous flashbacks. Maggie was also responsible for drawing cat whiskers on Aniq.

She decided to play hide and seek midway through her exploration, hiding from Brett whenever she saw him in the other room. He soon found her and put her in the car seat. Maggie discovers that Zoe was having sex with Aniq. Maggie also admits that Brett was using his big voice and thundered back. Danner encouraged See to discuss the “bad thing” she saw.

She saw Jennifer, a pregnant lady, her water break while she was going outside. This is how she got to where she is now.

Is Aniq doing the right thing?

After the interview is over, Danner makes one final sweep of Xavier’s room. Culp then gathers the group to talk about what happened – and who was responsible for the death of Xavier.

Danner spends a lot of time discussing the testimony of the witnesses and the differences in their stories after going through the five suspect testimonies. Danner casts doubt on Brett, but Aniq woke to find Brett was actually there. Aniq quickly speaks up for Brett and then puts himself in the firing line when everyone discovers that he has been listening in all of this.

Who murdered Xavier?

Aniq finally realizes what Danner has been thinking for some time, and we get a major twist to the story. The truth is that someone was hiding in the closet all along. It doesn’t matter how long it took because the person responsible actually sneaked in before the strike and waited. Who was that guy? Yasper.

Yasper seems to be the culprit, his motivation stemming mainly from jealousy. He was determined to record a song together with Xavier, but he didn’t show up at the studio. Yasper became enraged and hid in the closet before sneaking out to confront Xavier from the balcony. He gave him a hard punch on the nose and pushed him off the balcony. Then he dropped to the floor below to avoid being suspected.

Did you find any clues that he was the one responsible?

There were many. Thankfully, the Danner flashbacks make more sense, as our detective uses their expertise to deduce Yasper sent a message from Xavier to himself, giving him an alibi, and clearing his name.

Yasper also knew of the hidden cameras and used Xavier’s phone to delete the footage. Culp didn’t have butter fingers. Aniq found him in the bathroom, checking the acoustics, and also switched the music using Xavier’s phone. Yasper rings Xavier’s phone, and his pocket blares to reinforce that he is definitely responsible.

He eventually confesses to the crime, revealing that he was jealous and angry at Xavier and believing that Xavier owes him his entire life. Yasper is then taken outside by the Captain in handcuffs. He learns that Danner managed to confess and solve the case without him.

When does The Afterparty come to an end?

Everyone remembers Walt’s name as they say goodbye after the party is over. Zoe and Aniq decide that they will go to breakfast together, while Brett and Maggie return home together.

All is settled when Aniq finally makes his move, and kisses Zoe. Walt, however, is in the backseat and interrupts them all, asking if they can take him home.

The Episode Review

It was well worth the wait. It took me a while to believe that Xavier was on the balcony. But, in the end, this murder mystery ends with a satisfying conclusion. Yasper actually gave a reason why Xavier was killed.

The end is a satisfying conclusion. Maggie’s interview snippets, along with the suspense and tension from Danner, help put the case to rest and bring it to an end. It makes sense that the Danner flashback episode is now more important, as it is integral to how this case is resolved. The 36-minute run-time is perfect for wrapping this up with a bow.

Although The Afterparty might have faltered in the past few chapters, it still delivers a satisfying conclusion.

Overlong shows are a problem for AppleTV+. This problem plagues nearly all its IPs. Episodes that drag on for too long or fail to provide a reason for their existence are a common problem. This issue affects Truth Be Told’s Servant, Invasion, Defending Jacob, and Lisey’s Story, just to name a few. Unfortunately, The Afterparty is also affected.

The Afterparty remains one of Apple’s most popular shows, despite this. It’s unique, funny, and oddly hilarious. The Afterparty has 8 episodes.

This oddity comes at the expense of accessibility. It is likely that this will be seen as a love/hate relationship with many people. If you are sold after watching the first few episodes, it’s a rollercoaster ride.

The Afterparty is essentially an old murder mystery, but it has been updated with modern lingo and a variety of quirky characters. It also features a clever genre-hopping tone that spans its chapters.

The story is about a high school reunion that brings together a group who have come a long way since their school days.

Among them is Xavier, a hot-shot celebrity who starred in Hungry, Hungry Hippos’ box office smash hit and has since gone on to record some (subjectively good) tracks. Detectives Culp & Danner are tasked with finding the culprit and the reason he fell off his condo balcony during the reunion afterparty.

It’s important to note that the majority of critics who were given this early, including myself, only received the first three episodes.

Apple added additional episodes over the following weeks, but deliberately delayed the finale until after episode 7. This is important because nearly every review of this show doesn’t take into account any unexpected twists. They’re not bad, they’re just not good enough. However, it’s important to know the end to accurately reflect on a murder mystery.

An Agatha Christie novel is a story that can be saved or destroyed by the identity of the murderer or suspect at the end.

Now that I have said that, The Afterparty has a solid conclusion. It wraps up the story well and almost justifies its existence. Both chapters feel like filler, and slow down the pace. Episode 7 is a long flashback, and the former does absolutely nothing.

This is a return to the earlier mention of run-time and how Apple’s shows seem just to drag it out unnecessarily.

These characters are quite intriguing, with their unique quirks, secrets, and charismatic quips.

Although it may seem annoying at first, this is actually necessary for the show’s structure. As we see the characters’ perspectives from the particular night, each episode changes the perspective. The tone of the story changes depending on the person telling it.

Brett’s episode focuses on the action with a Fast & Furious twist, complete with car chases and fighting, and a rousing musical score. You can also find Zoe’s episode in hand-drawn animation. Aniq’s desperate romantic story is suitable for rom-com stylings.

This approach has a downside, however. There’s a lot more repetition of the same old ground. Many stories overlap from different angles, which is a problem for binge-watching.

However, you can feel the Deja vu vibes almost immediately. This eventually fades to reveal what a promising spark it was.

The Afterparty has solid acting and funny quips. It isn’t groundbreaking, despite what its first few episodes show. And it is too long. It’s worth it for the resolution and conclusion of the case. If you like murder mysteries, there will be plenty to enjoy.

What will be the number of episodes in season 2?

The Afterparty’s next season is decided by the producer. It will likely feature eight episodes or more, just like previous seasons. The future season will have at least eight episodes.
