Archiviste Noe: Everything You Need To Know

Archiviste Noe : Everything You Need To Know

Archiviste Noe was a central protagonist of Jun Mochizuki’s The Case Study of Vanitas. Noe, a vampire, was born in the French rural village of Averoigne and sent to Paris to complete an assignment by his teacher. He was given the task of finding the Book of Vanitas to determine its true character. However, Vanitas, a human owner of the Book who is also a self-described “Vampire medical specialist”, appeared. Noe was not fond of Vanitas but agreed to be his companion in order to fulfill Vanitas’s mission to heal Malnomen.

Noe is the narrator of The Case Study of Vanitas. The series is made up of his personal memoirs about why he killed Vanitas.

Noe is the sole survivor from the Archiviste Clan. He has no memories of any members of his biological family. He was found instead by an elderly couple that he called “Grandma and Grandpa”. Despite their differences in race, they lived happily together for many years and Noe began to see Vampires as equals. His family would eventually die from natural causes while he was still young. He was unprotected and mistakenly taken for a human. He was then kidnapped by vampires who wanted to bring work to Altus. He met his Teacher there, who recognized him and accepted him as his disciple.

Soon after, he met Louis and Dominique de Sade, his Teacher’s two youngest grandchildren. Noe called them his “first friends” and quickly became close to the three of them. Louis, who supposedly was ill, stayed with Noe, his Teacher and Dominique, even though Dominique lived in the city most of the time. Louis would become more distant from Noe, Dominique and his Teacher over time. This was a great concern for Noe. He, Louis, as well as Dominique, were still in their teens when a failed attempt at saving a child during the last stages of malnomen led to the corruption of Louis’s True name and his decapitation. Noe felt a strong sense of guilt after Louis gave him a posthumous present. This led to Noe’s personal investment in Malnomen cases, even towards people he didn’t know.

Personality Archiviste Noe

According to Dominique de Sade, Noe is “a country bumpkin who is many varieties of unfortunate due to his tendency to blindly pursue any road that interests him.” He is astonished by the beauty of nature and everything he sees is completely new to him.

Because he is prone to getting lost and being easily distracted, others often describe him as childlike. His cat Murr often follows Noe around, scratching his head in retaliation. Noe is also very kindhearted. This can be seen in his willingness to assist Amelia while she was imprisoned and executed, and his general concern for others’ well-being.

Archiviste Noe

Noe is a person of deep conviction. He wants to help those he loves and prevent them from suffering the same fate as his childhood friends. Noe knows that Louis, Mina and other children were not saved, but he wants to avoid such deaths in the future.

Noe has a high level of emotional intelligence and instinct. He uses his gut feelings to guide his actions. Sometimes, Noe is impulsive and can do things he doesn’t like, such as when Vanitas proposes taking Maria captive or allowing Moreau to take Vanitas’ eye. Noe’s sense of morality is heavily influenced by his adoptive grandparents and The Shapeless One.

Noe’s morality and idealism earned him many friends, but it also hinders him from taking decisive action. He was far more powerful than Astolfo due to his fear of children. Johann says that Noe views violence as a way to get people to do his bidding, but refuses to “dirty his hands” to prevent him from killing other people even if it puts himself in danger.

Trivia Archiviste Noe

  • “Noe” refers to the French version of “Noah”, the biblical figure who built the Ark that would save him, his family and all the land animals from being destroyed by the Great Flood. This was God’s punishment for humankind’s wickedness. “[1]
  • Noe shares a character song with Vanitas, title=”Le Formidable! “>Le Formidable!, sung and composed by Sasanomaly.
  • Jun Mochizuki says that Noe is a rough sleeper and struggles to fall asleep if he doesn’t hug something. [2] Noe used to be able to go to sleep in any position before Louis died. However, he was unable to do so after Louis’s passing.
    • Noe is also a very heavy sleeper. He often falls asleep in bed at night, but never wakes up.
  • Noe has a terrible record of cleaning up after himself.
  • Noe is terrible at cooking and believes that almost everything he eats tastes good.
  • As an alias, he uses the French name of “Gilbert” in Japanese (in Japanese, Ziruberu, Jirubeeru). This could be a reference to Gilbert Nightray (using English pronunciation, in Japanese, Girubaato ), who was a central protagonist in Jun Mochizuki’s previous series, Pandora Hearts.
  • The first drafts of The Case Study of Vanitas showed that Noe was a human, while Vanitas was an alien. Jun Mochizuki switched the fantasy races of Noe and Vanitas because it seemed too boring.
  • His relationship with Vanitas is influenced greatly by Dr. John Watson and Sherlock Holmes, with Vanitas playing Holmes and Noe playing Watson.
