Our second arc-based pick comes from Hunter x Hunter. This arc, just like Naruto’s, lasts quite a while and I believe it is nothing less than a war. It’s a death match between the Chimera Ants and the best fighters that humanity has to offer.

While the show was becoming darker and more serious, this arc is just as good as before. We learn that nobody is safe. Gon is a victim of the cruel world. The battle of the Kingpins and Gon’s revenge story are probably the most memorable scenes in anime.

If we get a second season, I’m sure the story will be a lot more action-packed. The show’s thought-provoking plot is complemented by thrilling fight scenes that will appeal to those who love the action.

36. Sengoku Basara

We are taking a break and going back to school, away from the battleship and gunmen. Yes, it’s time to learn some samurai.

Despite this, there’s still magic in the anime. This is anime, what did you expect? Sengoku Basara tells the tale of Masamune date and Yukimura Sanada. They are bitter rivals who must put aside their differences to defeat Oda Nobunaga, the boss.

The highlight of the show are its battle scenes. They don’t hesitate to take on extreme action. A swing with an axe can create a tornado. As I have mentioned, horses can do front flips during battle.

Mobile Suit Gundam - SEED

Even though humanity has made it to the 24th century, the future is still rife with conflicts and wars. “Celestial Being”, an organization that seeks to end wars and bring peace to the world, is amidst all of this.

The anime has impressive animations and battle sequences featuring giant robots called Gundams. The story is interesting despite its lackluster character development. This anime series is a must for fans who love the Mecha genre. It promises to be unforgettable. It is filled with intense action, political intrigue, and it is one of the finest examples of this genre. This show is a must-see.

32. Heavy Object

What is an object? It is a world where hamsters can advance warfare. They are huge, spherical tanks which can be used as the ultimate weapon in the universe.

It would be boring to have something so OP right from the beginning. The show revolves around four main characters who, using some plot armor, and other outrageous stunts, discover a way defeat Objects (yes that’s why they’re called).

This concept is perfect for . Despite it seeming repetitive, the constant fight scenes against the wall never get boring. You see what I did there?

31. Grave Of The Fireflies

What story is based on the aftermath of World War II? It sounds interesting. Grave of the Fireflies was an anime movie of 1 hour and 30 minutes that was broadcast in 1988. It’s an anime directed and animated by Isao Takahata. It is about Seita’s sister and how she lost everything during World War II.

They are their home, their family, and everything.Isao Takahata and Seita’s sister  are now wandering aimlessly, searching for survival strategies. They would soon realize their true nature as humans, as they continue to wander the streets. The cruel ways in which the humble become cruel and their consequences. This anime is more about delivering a great message and illustrating a realistic representation of war.

When you complete the task, your eyes will well up with tears.

30. Full Metal Panic

The story centers on a 17-year old member of the military group Mithril. Sousuke is responsible for protecting Kaname Chidori, a high school student.

Sousuke begins to wonder about Kaname’s special abilities as well as why she is being targeted, as he spends more quality time with her. Full Metal Panic is slow to start, but it’s worth it because it improves over time, especially in season 2. Although the first season was mediocre, it doesn’t stop this anime from being an incredible series.

29. Land Of The Lustrous

Land Of The Lustrous

Interesting is the Land of the lustrous. It’s fascinating to a new level. Land Of The Lustrous is a TV anime with 12 episodes that was aired in 2017. This anime adaptation is a manga series. Haruko Ichikawa wrote and illustrated the manga.

Phos is a creature that tries to survive in this world. His entire race of Gems is at risk because of Lunarians. He is also one of the incapable gems. But if you have the heart and desire to succeed, you can do anything.

That’s where he met Kei Amemiya (the bomber’s older sister). They form a friendship which leads Kazuki to uncover the corruption in the world, his government and the future for all of Japan.

27. Violet Evergarden

This show is high on my list. It’s great if you’re interested in war and want to see the army’s operations, but it’s also a good idea look at what happens afterwards.

The human psyche, not the economy or the politics of the aftermath. This is more or less what Violet Evergarden can show us. After being injured in one of the last skirmishes, she was hospitalized and is now without meaning.

She becomes an Auto Memory Doll, and she tries to help others see themselves. This is where it gets really deep.

26. Macross

Humanity is not the only living form of life in the universe. This is what they discovered when an alien spaceship crashed on Earth. They are afraid of the unknown, but they are equally curious about it and decide to reuse the spaceship. They named it the SDF-1 Macross.

An army of spaceships appeared to arrive to seize the Macross spacecraft on the day it was due to fly. The race is called the Zentradi Land on Earth and the Macross attacks it on its own. Bad impression. This causes a war. When Macross attempts to escape, it teleports with its entire city and all of its people into deep space.

25. God Eater

These monsters are immune to conventional weapons and prompted the creation of Fenrir, a special organization. Their mission is to defeat the Aragami and save mankind.

Lenka Utsugi (15 years old) is the newest member of Fenrir, and their secret weapon. She is determined to end all Aragami. God Eater is an anime series that combines violence, fantasy, military action, and humor. Although the original plot of the main character seeking revenge on monsters might seem cliché, the story soon evolves into a compelling tale with dynamic characters.

God Eater might seem like Attack on Titan for some viewers. But that’s not true. God Eater is a good alternative to Attack on Titan if you haven’t seen it. However, it is not as good.

24. Gunslinger Girl

The Social Welfare Agency is located in central Italy and offers young, disabled, and ill girls a second chance through advanced cybernetic enhancements.

The Agency brainwashes the girls and trains them as assassins to the corrupt side. These “handlers” are girls who are made to kill and are often pushed to the limits. This can lead to a shorter life span.

These girls, despite being turned into brutal weapons, are still children who yearn for love and happiness. Gunslinger Girl, a dark and heartbreaking military anime, explores the complicated emotions and inner turmoil experienced by a group of orphaned girls who were trained to be assassins.

As the characters wrestle with their actions, the show explores themes of morality as well as humanity. The animation is visually appealing, and the soundtrack effectively sets the tone for the thought-provoking plot. This anime isn’t your usual military story. It will make you question the nature of morality, and humanity.

23. GREAT PRETENDER

Great Pretender is the perfect place for those who love Mafia and thugs. The Anime is, a 23-episode ONA series, aired in 2020. It’s an anime original directed and animated by Hiro Kaburagi.

The series is about the rivalry between Edamura Makoto (corrupt) and Asakusa (horrible). Let’s just say their competition may not be helpful to others.

These two will be competing to deceive some of the most powerful and influential players. Let’s just say this: This game will continue for quite some time.

This anime is filled with tricks, gangsters and all the action. It’s a great choice for anyone who loves some intelligent screen time.

22. Darling in the Franxx

A post-apocalyptic world sees a city under attack from hordes. To defend the city against the advanced mechs, a special unit of teenagers is sent. There are many characters in the core cast, including teens who have never lived outside of the city and struggle to navigate their lives while fighting for survival.

The mechs’ sensuality is one of the most fascinating aspects of the show. It is not clear if this is a metaphor, or fanservice. However, it adds another layer to the story. The final episode of the show is very mysterious, leaving many unanswered questions. Despite these plot holes, the show is still solid and well-worth watching. This show is an absolute must-see for fans of the genre, with its solid storytelling and action-packed battles.

21. Modao Zushi

Alright. Okay. Modao Zushi, a 15-episode ONA series, aired in 2018. It’s an anime original directed and animated by Ke Xiong by B.CMAY PICTICS.

This animation from China is set during the medieval age, when war was taking place. This war is between two clans, and they will do whatever it takes to win.

They want to win the war and might also discover some new mysteries. This animated series is amazing and you won’t want to miss it. It also shows the potential for Chinese animation. It is easy to see the style and the story are even more captivating.

20. Porco Rosso

Marco Pagot becomes a pig because is a curse that turns him into an ace in World War I. He then becomes a bounty hunter Porco Roso.

He spends his time hunting down sky pirates and collecting bounties. Donald Curtis, an American hotshot, shoots Porco Rosso down. He declares that Porco Rosso has died. Porco Rosso survives, and finds an aircraft company. He takes out a loan to fix his plane.

19. Angolmois: Genkou Kassen-ki

It’s the 13th Century, and the Mongolian Empire has just begun to explode. Japan must prepare for Tsushima island, their next target.

This show’s main plot revolves around defending the island. Our character pool is quite interesting. No Jesus-like Kiritos, just people. Many of them are former prisoners who probably don’t like Japan at all. This realistic approach to life is what I like best. Wars are brutal, and people aren’t angels or gods.

18. Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann

Now, to undo everything I said, Gurren-Lagann. This is by far the best mech show I’ve ever seen. Every fight is thrilling, every monologue powerful, and every name of a mech hilarious but epic.

It’s a cliché. It doesn’t matter because the characters are so charming and the fights are incredible regardless. The tone shift in the second part of the series is also something I really like. It keeps the best parts from the first, but adds to them. Can we agree that Yoko is one the most memorable characters of all time? She has the worst luck with men, however.

17. The Saga of Tanya, the Evil

A Japanese employee fired from an atheist salaryman kills him. The entity claims to be God, and the man is criticised for not believing. The man refuses belief even when confronted with “God”.

The entity agrees to reincarnate the man in another world, where he will need to pray to God for guidance.

Tanya Degurechaff is the man’s reincarnation. She, a young soldier nicknamed the Devil of the Rhine for her cold-blooded and ruthless nature in combat despite being doll-like, is now Tanya Degurechaff.

Tanya fights “God” in an alternate World War I: If she doesn’t die from natural causes or refuses faith, her soul is sent to hell!

16. GATE

Ever wonder what would look like if sci-fi met fantasy on the battlefield of war?

It’s time to find out! The sci-fi army’s representative is… us. After a Japanese gate is opened, a number of monsters and warriors with medieval appearances begin to emerge and cause havoc.

This is not a happy turn of events, as you can see. The modern military makes use of its unique powers, modern weapons. The protagonist is sent to the gate to assess the situation in order to facilitate peace talks. But it’s not easy. This is an interesting mix of fantasy and modern warfare. But, I love Pina Co Lada.

15. Akira

A young man with psychic powers sets off an event that will lead to World War III in Japan. He is a teenager living in an alternate Japan from 1988. He was eventually captured and never saw again.

It is 2019, and Tokyo has been dubbed Neo Tokyo. Shotaro Kaneda, 17, lives in Tokyo and runs a motorcycle gang alongside his best friend Tetsuo Schima. He is constantly in conflict with rival gangs.

Shotaro and Tetsuo meet an esper that managed to escape from a government agency. Tetsuo begins to acquire powers after meeting this bizarre esper.

The government won’t allow him to leave the city or his psychic abilities behind and take desperate measures.

14. Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken

We are in the Top Ten Ladies and Gentlemen! You are the best! Let’s just say, I have some incredible anime for you homies.

Start with the amazing slime Isekai. Tensei Shitara slime Datta Ken, a 24-episode TV anime which aired in 2018, is available here. It’s an anime adaptation of a light book. Fuse wrote the light novel and Mitz Vah illustrated it. This series is about a man who died in the real life and was reincarnated as a slime in another world.

He ate more of the creatures and learned their skills, which made him stronger. He soon developed his country and began to trade with other countries. Some nations do not like him being here. Let’s just say these countries might have to fight him sooner or later. One of the most popular themes in animation is Slime Isekai. It is amazing. The animation, the world-building, and storytelling are all fantastic. It is without a doubt a gem in the coal mine.

13. Howl’s Moving Castle

Howl's Moving Castle

It seems incompleto to have a list without a Ghibli film. While we have seen quite a few Ghibli movies, this one is better than any of them. You don’t believe me? Don’t believe me? Then take a look yourself. Howl’s Moving Castle, a 2-hour anime film that aired in 2004, is now available for viewing.

It’s an anime adaptation of a novel. Hayao Miyazaki directed the anime and Studio Ghibli animated it. The series follows Sophie, a charming girl who lives her normal life. Her life was turned upside down when she met Howl, a wizard.

This is because Howl met with Howl and created jealousy in Witch of The Waste. She cast a spell over Sophie, causing her to start looking old. Howl is the only way out of this curse. So begins her quest for the cure for Howl’s moving castle. Let’s just say this is going to be an exciting ride. A wonderful movie with war beautifully added to it’s story. This series’ direction is another reason to give it a shot.

12. Kingdom

Don’t panic, this story isn’t based in Japan! It’s true, it takes us to a dark chapter in China’s history.

The country is split into smaller territories that each attempt to take over the other. Xin is an orphan who aspires to be the greatest general on the Yangtze River. After some spoilers, he is drafted into the army of the young king Ying Zheng. We are shown in detail how not-fun war can be. This show features some amazing large-scale battles. It’s also very down-to-earth, which is a plus for those who are tired of fantasy.

11. Princess Mononoke

Princess Mononoke

Another Ghibli movie has won over many other weebs. It deserves to be over them, wouldn’t you agree? This is Princess Mononoke’s story. Princess Mononoke, a 15-minute anime movie, was aired in 1997.

It’s an anime original directed and animated by Studio Ghibli. This series is about Ashitaka, a young soldier who was cursed by a demon while fighting. He follows the advice of village elders and wanders off to seek the cure.

Iron Town is discovered by him during his wanderings. There is a war between Lady Eboshi, San and others. This dispute stems from the environment. Lady Eboshi would like to see forests disappear, but San wants them to be protected at all costs. Ashitaka now has to try and resolve this conflict, while also trying to find a solution for himself.

This movie is a masterpiece of animation, beautiful motion, great direction, and elegant choreography.

10. One Piece

So what are we left with? You thought we would only talk about War, but not the longest-war anime. We won’t, of course. Let’s talk about One Piece. One Piece is an anime series that began airing in 1999. This anime adaptation is a manga series. Eiichiro Oda illustrated the manga. The series centers on Luffy, a pirate who wants to find the absolute treasure of One Piece.

What is One Piece? One Piece, as the legendary pirate Gol D. Roger said, is beyond imagination and a ultimate treasure that can fulfill all wishes. A new generation of pirates was born, and Luffy is one. Follow Luffy as he explores the world to discover what One Piece is and how he finds it. One Piece is simply INCREDIBLE. It is nothing less than spectacular. It might seem too long, but it is well worth the effort.

Give it a shot. This anime will be your favorite because of its beautiful animation and vibrant scenes.

09. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

Humanity will soon be able to transplant a body of human flesh into a machine.

This can lead to great good and great evil. Cybernetics can lead to serious crimes, and the Japanese government created Section 9, a police section that deals with cybernetic and technological crimes.

Motoko Kusanagi and Daisuke Akramaki are selected to lead Section 9. They quickly discover that they are facing a highly intelligent hacker known only as “The Laughing Man.”

Section 9 is caught up in the hacker’s game of cat and mouse and could lead to the destruction Japan!

08. Berserk

OK, the 2016 release was not easy on the eyes. Or your soul. Even the three Golden Age Arc films are enough to give you a kick. Berserk is a titan among manga readers. It is a story with one of the most painful, grueling and sadistic plotlines. These are all positive things.

Guts is a strong protagonist in terms of power. Oh man, if the world thought Guts was a strong protagonist, then you are wrong. The story of this forsaken merchant mercenary is my favorite. For the complete experience, make sure to watch the movies or read the manga.

07. Code Geass

Are you ready to talk about brains? We have a gift for your brains. Code Geass is the next series, which has been hailed as one of the most intelligent anime. Code Geass was a TV anime of 25 episodes that first aired in 2006. It’s an anime original directed and animated by Gorou Taniguchi.

Lelouche is a Brittanian citizen caught up in a commotion. Lelouche is caught in the middle of a war that involves Brittania but manages escape with the help from CC.

He now has the Power of Geass, and he will do everything he can in order to end this war. My friends, his genius will be at the next level. Make sure you are ready for it. Code Geass, as I mentioned, is the most intelligent series in terms both of its writing and presentation. Code Geass may be for you if you love the best war anime on the market.

06. Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta (The Pilot’s Love Song).

Full disclosure: I was attracted to this show because it reminded me of Skyblock in Minecraft. Because Isla is the center of the show, an island in the sky, this is why it’s so popular.

Our protagonist is Cadoques High’s Aerial Division. It feels just like an average high school anime, but in the sky. Oh boy, does it change halfway through.

We then get to witness some incredible sky battles and skirmishes, as many planes fly across the sky and shoot at each other. Sometimes, it makes me weep. It is the greatest show of all time. No. It is not worth a look if you enjoy drama with characters and aerial battles. For sure.

05. Legend Of The Galactic Heroes

Do you enjoy old-fashioned anime? This anime is for you, my friend. This is how I would describe Legend Of The Galactic Heroes. Legend Of The Galactic Heroes was a 110-episode OVA series which aired in 1988.

It’s an anime adaptation of a novel. Noboru Ishiguro directed the anime and Artland animated it. The anime describes an intergalactic conflict that has been going on for centuries.

This war is between Galactic Empire (the Galactic Empire) and Free Planets Alliance. This war looks like it will last a long time, with uncountable robots on both sides and many people. The situation appears to be improving when each side assigns a new captain. Although they may not be acquainted, their intelligence will lead them both to the same platform.

Which of them would be the strongest? Legend Of The Galactic Heroes was an old-school anime that destroyed the war setting. This anime is a great storyteller and has the best collection of characters. It’s no surprise that it ranks at the top of this list.

04. Vinland Saga

Vinland Saga is an overlooked gem in the anime community. It hasn’t received the recognition it deserves, despite its exceptional storytelling, character development and animation.

The series is set in Viking times and follows Thorfinn who seeks revenge for his father’s murder. He tries to prove himself worthy of a duel against the killer but he discovers a new reality that changes his perception of reality. The Vinland Saga is a must watch for any anime lover. It’s known for its powerful villain and compelling story.

03. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

This anime is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. It’s not number 1, because I think the other two have a better military/war aesthetic.

FMA is still amazing. Alchemy is always an amazing concept. Battles are skill-based and more exciting than a shouting contest. Brotherhood’s best feature is the expansion and addition of older characters. The addition of Olivier Mira Armstrong and Yao Ling has been a great game-changer. They really enrich the already rich cast.

FMA Brotherhood is a great place to start if you haven’t already.

02. Gintama

Gintama

We have the second most beloved anime of recent generations as our runner-up, ladies and gentlemen. Let me introduce you to Gintama. Gintama is a TV anime of 201 episodes that was first aired in 2006. It’s an anime adaptation of a manga serial.

Hideaki Sorachi wrote and illustrated the manga. Sakata Gintoki, a remarkable swordsman who works as a freelancer, is the focus of the series. Under Amanto’s supervision, he goes places and takes off jobs. Gintoki will be discriminated against and treated unfairly by the aliens who live next to him.

He doesn’t care what it is. He only cares about the money to pay his rent. Gintama will focus on funny presentations and brilliant execution with the support of his friends. This anime is too amazing to be true. It is a beautiful piece of work, which you and I would love for you to admire.
