The story follows a woman who relives her past life through recurring death and resurrection for 600 years. It also features a man who cannot kill nor be killed and who has spent the last three centuries as a Bulgasal, a mythological creature that eats human blood and is cursed with longevity. Jang Young-woo directs the show and Seo Jaewon and Kwon Sora write the script. They are a husband and wife partnership.

“Bulgasal, Immortal Souls,” a romantic fantasy drama, ranks well in Netflix’s vast content library of K-Dramas. It is built on ancient traditions of retribution and cycles through time. This series weaves together a complex story that spans many millennia. After the deaths of his child and wife, Dan Hwal becomes Bulgasal. He set out to find the woman who gave him eternity. The naive hero is forced, in the meantime, to reflect on his past.

Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Season 2

The drama was highly praised for its imaginative narrative, strong character relationships, beautiful videography, amazing soundtrack, and outstanding results by the core cast. A second season is possible, even though the first season ends with a bang. A second season of “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls” is unlikely due to the show’s unpredictable ratings and abrupt conclusion.

Is Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Season 2 in Production?

The shooting of Bulgasal: Immortal Souls has not started yet, to be exact. The COVID pandemic, which struck in 2019, and the continued restrictions in many other countries are the main reasons for the delay in season 2. These restrictions have caused delays in several films and shows, and this could explain why shooting has not begun.

Everybody who has seen the series knows that it was a one-season affair. This means that there is a second season in the works.

Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Season 2 Cast

Kwon Nara plays Min Sang-woon / Kim Hwa Yeon and Lee Joo-wan plays young Dan Hwal. (During the Joseon Dynasty, a man who was once mortal becomes immortal while serving as an officer in the army and executing a mission that wipes out the relics from the former kingdom.) Lee Jin-Wook plays Dan Hwal. Han Seo-jin plays Min Sangwoon / Min Sang Yeon. Lee Joon portrays Ok Eul-tae (Another eternal who has a perpetual life and money and influence. He lives in concealment). Gong Seungyeon as Dan Sol/Min Si-ho, Park Myungshin [ko] to be a shaman/ Hye-suk; Jung Jin-young and Dan Geuk/Kwon Ho–yeol; Kim Woo-seok to be Nam Do-yoon.

Park Joo-hwan plays Dan Ah-chan (Dan Hwal), and Dan Sol’s son. Lee Kyu-ho plays Du Eok-si-n. Oh Yu-jin is Kim Go-bun (Kim Hwa-Yeon’s younger sister). Kim Tae-Baek, Lee Jin-hee and Min Sang-woon’s mother are special guests.

Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Season 2 Plot

The very first season ends with a gory finale when Hwal is given a taste for blood. We are able to recall his past and return to the legends of Hwal (the first Bulgasals) who lived thousands of years ago. Since the tragic event, Hwal has enslaved all of his other characters. Hwal, who had died in ancient times, became human and handed the curse to Ok Eultae.

Hwal eats Ok Eul Tae empty and commits suicide at that moment, while protecting the other. Detective Kwon, Min Sang un and Si ho die. Si ho and Do Yun return to Hwal’s home. Min Si-ho finds out where Min Sang-un is, a potter and an artisan, after spending 50 years. After receiving a strange photograph in the mail, she goes to Hwal’s old residence.

Hwal, a reincarnation of Sang-un, arrives to try and purchase the property. When Sang-un meets Hwal, the pattern is reestablished. A second season may be made focusing on Hwal or Sang-un’s life after the first.
