A Palico Minion is awarded as a reward for completing the challenge “The New King on the Block”. Introduced in Patch 4.36, this quest is a partnership with the Monster Hunter franchise. However, it’s a perpetual Event or Trial so don’t worry about missing your favorite Palico.

The only requirement for unlocking this quest is the completion of the Level 70 Main Story Quest “Stormblood”.

If you’re done with that, go to Kugane in Othard.

“The New King on the Block” is available to pick up from the Hearty Hunter (Kugane – Bokairo Inn, X:10 Y:9).

You’ll then be escorted into The Azim Steppe in search of certain predators that are certainly terrifying.

The steps that must be followed are:

• Collect information for the Settlement of Reunion
• Speak to the Concerned Qestiri Merchant (The Azim Steppe – Reunion, X:31 , Y:27)
• Relax in the exact location indicated on your map
• Speak to Felyne (The Azim Steppe, X:12 The Azim Steppe, Y:11)
• Make use of your Duty Finder to finish the “Great Hunt” Trial
• Talk to Felyne. Felyne
• Go back to the Hearty Hunter (Kugane – Bokairo Inn, X:10 Y:9) to claim your prize

The fight between Rathalos and the king is the only one within Final Fantasy.

The gameplay mechanics differ from the earlier Trials that have a lot of influence from The Monster Hunter franchise.

In other words, his attacks are visually broadcast in lieu of providing AOE indicators.

1. Phase I: Ground

Phase 2: Adding

• Garula: When Rathalos has been reduced to about 70 percent HP then the Garula appears and takes charge of it. This add is the DPS Inquiry into the fight and must be destroyed quickly. After it is defeated, it acts as an ointment against Rathalos’s imminent fires.
• Rodeo: If Rathalos is injured by the Garula, an icon that can be targeted will be displayed. One player must be able to activate this feature and then perform press-to-hold to keep Rathalos locked. If you are running out of time, the Group can wipe.

In the final act, Rathalos takes to the skies and gains a new set of capabilities.

A lot of them cause poisons or burns so pay attention to your HP.

This is crucial for The Extreme edition of Great Hunt.

Three deaths in the Extreme Trial. 3 deaths during the Extreme Trial removes you from the entire event, meaning it enjoins you out of the fight.

3. Phase Three: Flying

• Claw Swipe: The same as the Charging Bite in Phase 1. Rathalos can turn towards an unidentified Player, and then raise slightly. Then, it will swoop toward the player, and extend its claws, inflicting damage and poison. The easiest way to avoid it is to run behind Rathalos.
• Mangle: Frontal cone attacks that inflict physical damage. It can also cause stun. It is avoided by moving to Rathalos’s flanks or the rear.

• Fireball: Like The phase One ability, but it creates huge lava puddles. The puddle remains throughout the fight, and it causes burn damage when touched. It is recommended to bait along the edge of the arena to create an event.

Rathalos will keep using these powers until they are defeated.

Be aware that it also comes with a knockdown gauge. Once it is filled, its tail becomes an attainable target.

A slash to Rathalos’s tail causes huge harm on the beast. Therefore, if it’s knocked down, remove the tail!
