The Hunt is On

The fight between Rathalos and the king is the only one within Final Fantasy.

The gameplay mechanics differ from the earlier Trials that have a lot of influence from The Monster Hunter franchise.

In other words, his attacks are visually broadcast in lieu of providing AOE indicators.

That means you’ll need to keep an eye on the boss and the way it moves to determine how you can stay away from attacks.

Furthermore, following the initial phase, healing becomes completely disabled. It is necessary to use the Duty Action “Mega Potion” to restore HP.

It also comes with a lengthy animation lock, so you’ll need to ensure security before you use it.

It’s particularly important to watch Rathalos as it can’t be Tanked.

This means that it will take on whatever or whomever it chooses at any moment.

For those who want to know what’s up, here are the rules of the game.

1. Phase I: Ground

  • Whipping Bite Rathalos will look towards its left, and raise its tail. After a few seconds it will then slash the players ahead or behind. It is possible to avoid this by staying on his flanks.
  • Tail Swipe: A two-fold attack, indicated with Rathalos’s tail up while turning towards the right. After a brief delay it will make a 180-degree counterclockwise sweep, followed by an additional attack in the clockwise direction. It is possible to avoid this by staying near its left flank, or well out of its melee distance.
  • Charging Bite: Rathalos can swoop towards an unidentified player and then pause before roaring. After the break, it will strike directly at the target regardless of the distance. To avoid it, just remove yourself from the path of the Rathalos following an animation of roar.
  • Fireball: An outline will be visible over the head of the player as Rathalos begins to release flames. It is a definite attack. It is best to separate it to the Party to minimize splash and damage.
  • Evasive Breath: Rathalos will move toward its target, then lower its head. After a time it will explode the area in front, causing burns and injuries. Make sure to get away from Rathalos since this video is quite brief.

Phase 2: Adding

All of the attacks of Rathalos from Phase 1 also take place here.

Additionally, you’ll have to deal with Adds. These adds are able to be tanked but that’s something to consider. These are the adds you’ll encounter:

  • Sheep: They are a nuisance. They are known to run around and cast an eerie Sleep spell within an arc AOE. If you’re caught in the act, you’re basically a sitting duck for whatever the Rathalos and the other adds choose to make.
  • Yak: This is the most insignificant of the Adds. They’ll carry out a simple attack and often target the Rathalos itself.
  • Coeurl: Will occasionally unleash a wide-cleaving attack known as Blaster. If you are caught during an attack you’ll become crippled. The most difficult Add to the list, and must be defeated first.
  • Garula: When Rathalos has been reduced to about 70 percent HP then the Garula appears and takes charge of it. This add is the DPS Inquiry into the fight and must be destroyed quickly. After it is defeated, it acts as an ointment against Rathalos’s imminent fires.
  • Rodeo: If Rathalos is injured by the Garula, an icon that can be targeted will be displayed. One player must be able to activate this feature and then perform press-to-hold to keep Rathalos locked. If you are running out of time, the Group can wipe.

In the final act, Rathalos takes to the skies and gains a new set of capabilities.

A lot of them cause poisons or burns so pay attention to your HP.

This is crucial for The Extreme edition of Great Hunt.

Three deaths in the Extreme Trial. 3 deaths during the Extreme Trial removes you from the entire event, meaning it enjoins you out of the fight.

It is necessary to re-queue the entire queue and start again from the beginning!

3. Phase Three: Flying

  • Claw Swipe: The same as the Charging Bite in Phase 1. Rathalos can turn towards an unidentified Player, and then raise slightly. Then, it will swoop toward the player, and extend its claws, inflicting damage and poison. The easiest way to avoid it is to run behind Rathalos.
  • Mangle: Frontal cone attacks that inflict physical damage. It can also cause stun. It is avoided by moving to Rathalos’s flanks or the rear.
  • Sweeping Fires: A huge frontal and explosive explosion. It causes damage, stun and lasts for a long time. The easiest way to avoid it is to run towards the flanks or back of Rathalos.
  • Fireball: Like The phase One ability, but it creates huge lava puddles. The puddle remains throughout the fight, and it causes burn damage when touched. It is recommended to bait along the edge of the arena to create an event.

Rathalos will keep using these powers until they are defeated.

Be aware that it also comes with a knockdown gauge. Once it is filled, its tail becomes an attainable target.

A slash to Rathalos’s tail causes huge harm on the beast. Therefore, if it’s knocked down, remove the tail!

An Award Worthy of a Hunter
