Season 5 will bring the animated series on Netflix Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous to an exciting close; however, here’s all we know about the possibility of a season 6.

Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Before Season 6

Season 5 begins immediately following the fourth season’s finale and shows our campers coming into contact with Daniel Kon, Kenji’s father and the CEO at Mantah Corp, while they attempt to end the suffering of dinosaurs and get them back home. After fleeing Isla Nublar in the third season, only to end up on a different island populated by dinosaurs, Darius, Ben, Yaz, Brooklynn, Kenji, and Sammy fight to stop Daniel Kon, who is determined to make money off the dinosaurs by having them fight anyone who is willing to buy a ticket and also try to regulate their actions as dinosaurs, with the help of a chip that puts them under control.

After the mixed reaction to Season 4, the introduction of a brand new island, an unpalatable antagonist in Kash, and an outrageous plot, it’s not hard to imagine why people were unhappy. The show never really did it for me. But Season 5 is a return to all the things I enjoyed about the show: incredible interactions between dinosaurs, as well as an intriguing story that was mostly successful.

When Season 4 focused on anxiety, which is a certain problem that everyone would experience being on an island populated by creatures from the past, Season 5 offers more time to relax among the Nublar Six developing friendships, and even relationships (Saz has a crush on a girl for his entire life) as well as creating a problem for Kenji about his father’s use of dinosaurs…a plot point that’s most definitely one of the most original concepts this franchise has ever given us, and allows for emotions that haven’t been seen on the show before and also tension between the campers that is building from the beginning of season 3.

The moments we get to spend with our characters, along with the return of Dave and Roxie, are all great, and even though the show can be erratic, the characters each have an arc which is completed towards the close.

Like four episodes of the other seasons, this one isn’t perfect. There are numerous loose ends to tie and ongoing plotlines that the beginning of the season seems insignificant to the next. The result is an unsatisfactorily rushed conclusion that doesn’t give the characters the respect they deserve, even though their storylines are excellent. Similar to the film, with Domination having been released just a few days back, the show also is a victim of some sloppy choices that the film made. It’s nice to see Biosyn along with Lewis Dodgson show up, even if they’re involved to provide an opportune link to the film.

However, it’s the control chips which are the main focus of this season which feel like an unimportant relic due to the fact that they are not even mentioned. Domination paid any attention to these devices, and only employed them in a few lines. It’s difficult not to think about how Domination could be were it focused on this particular aspect and highlighting the dinosaur abuse theme Camp Cretaceous uses to great effect, rather than being a boring Locust tale that has never been a success.

While it does have its flaws, Camp Cretaceous has grown a lot from its initial season. It initially enticed me by the notion of seeing what the camp was like, abandoned; however, due to the incredible characters, I kept going back to the show every now and then to go back to the epic adventures they embark on. Although both the initial two seasons are unmatched, viewers will be in for excitement in the finale of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous with beloved characters such as Toro as well as Bumpy coming back to life, and characters finally getting the resolutions they deserve.

Although it’s sad to see that the series has come to an end, the creators behind it are satisfied with what they’ve accomplished with a joyful and enjoyable five seasons that paid tribute to the franchise and all that was before it while establishing its own style, story and characters I adored throughout.

The final two seasons aren’t without plenty of issues, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous as a whole is an absolute blast and provides a satisfying end to the series, while also serving as a minor set-up to Jurassic World Domination. It’s not perfect, and it does feel a little unfinished sometimes, but the fifth season concludes in a positive way and that’s what I would have imagined.
