It began as an online novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in October 2015.

It was later published as a light novel by Micro Journal, who released the first volume in July 2016. Plot of Reincarnated as a Sword
After dying from a car accident, the protagonist finds himself reincarnated in another world as a sword with no
memory of his name, although he remembers everything else from his previous life. Accepting his fate as a sword, he begins to seek someone to become his wielder. He discovers a caravan of slave merchants under attack by a two-headed bear. A young catgirl slave, Fran, discovers the sword, and uses him to kill the bear. After being freed from slavery, she names the sword “Teacher”, and the two embark on an adventure together.

Initially a human in his previous life, Master finds himself reincarnated as a powerful, legendary sword. However, being forced in place, he resigns himself to rest until a determined warrior draws near. Teacher (also translated as Master) is the narrator and primary protagonist of Reincarnated as a Sword. He’s a sentient magical sword that assists the story’s deuteragonist, Fran.
Personality
Master is a father and guardian of sorts towards Fran. He takes care of and protects her while assisting her by providing his abilities and bonuses to Fran.
Master acts kind and well-mannered towards other people, except if they disrespect or try to harm Fran.
Fran (フラン, Furan)

Fran is the deuteragonist of Reincarnated as a Sword and a famed powerful adventurer known as Black Lightning Princess (黒雷姫, Kokuraiki).
A young Cat-girl child, she was born and raised into slavery. However, when her Caravan is attacked by a two-headed bear, she bears the will of the warrior, and summons Master from his resting place. Together, the two embark on a quest.

Amanda is an extremely well-known and powerful A-ranked Adventurer of Altessa and a whip user. She is among the series’ strongest and most influential characters and is known across the continent as Amanda of Hariti.
Background
A guardian of children, Amanda has several orphanages under her protection. She had raised two orphaned Black Catkin children who grew up to become adventurers themselves and had a child together.
The two primary characters are Fran and the Master/Teacher. Fran will be voiced by Ai Kakuma, and Master will be voiced by Shin-ichiro Miki. Fran is an adventurer and she is the legendary Black Lightning Princess. She, however, hides her fame and does not flaunt it. Master is the narrator of the series. He is a magical sword around whom the story revolves.
