It began as a Shosetsuka Ni Naro web novel in October 2015. The first volume of the light novel was published by Micro Magazine in July 2016. It has been adapted into manga by Tomowo Maruyama and published by Gentosha. Hinako Inoue also published a spin-off manga. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the manga and light novels for North American release, along with the spin-off. C2C produced an anime television series adaptation in October 2022. The protagonist dies in a car accident and is reincarnated as a sword. He has no memory of his name but can recall everything from his past life. He accepts his fate as a sword and begins to search for someone to be his wielder. A caravan of slave traders is under attack by a bear-headed beast. Fran, a young catgirl slave discovers the sword and uses it to kill the bear. She is freed from slavery and names the sword “Teacher” and they embark on an adventure together.

Episode 1 is entitled ‘It was with the sword that Mofu Ears met.’ He was accidentally reincarnated into another world and turned into a sword.
Fran, a black cat tribe member, is oppressed as a slave and attacked by magical beasts. The two people who want to give strength and the one who seeks strength, encounter each other…

Fran will visit the Adventurer’s Guild in episode 2 of Reincarnated as a Sword entitled “The Scary Examiner at the Adventurer’s Guild”. Shisou and Fran may be attacked by a horde of goblins. These are probably the ones Shisou attacked in the first episode. The journey has begun, and it will be interesting to see what happens. Although, I don’t think they’ll deviate much from the general isekai tropes and try something new. There’s still some hope, given the bizarre premise. Let’s wait and see.
