Shooter season 3 aired in Summer 2018. The show was cancelled after the conclusion of the 3rd season. Although I was aware that the series was being cancelled, I cannot say why. I believe the series was well-done and was enjoyed by a wide audience. Although I was able to distribute the series internationally through a Netflix distribution agreement, I was surprised by the outcome.

However, the story is wrapped up in the best way I can think of. Although there was the possibility of a fourth season, it wasn’t possible to make the series happen. Despite shopping the series to other networks, Shooter ended. Let’s look at the show in greater detail. (Unless you can give me the reason for the cancellation, in which case please let me know in the comments below.)

Review

Later, Bob Lee and his daughter chat, but Julie is taken home by a team of hitmen who are outside shooting into her house. Their helicopter was heading towards Bob Lee’s ranch, and the sheriff called him to inform him. He quickly gets into his car and drives to the rescue of the woman he loves.

Julie, ever the damsel-in-distress, quickly drops to the ground when bullets fly and pulls out a gun from her safe.

He approaches her and asks her to fire again. She quickly grabs her pistol and shoots him in his groin.

Bob Lee now visits the property and shoots several men. But one man remains, and he blows down the house. Swagger is killed by the last hitman.

His bullet wound in his shoulder is not too severe and he doesn’t look too serious. He apologizes to Mary and says that he loves her. But just as they think that it’s over, it turns out that it was one of their lives.

Ryan Phillippe’s injury cut short season 2. This season consisted of 2 stories. The show was unable to finish the second season in time, so it ended in just 1. The opening of the season, which Solotov held hostage Swagger, is fast-paced and relentless in pace.

This is the second arc in this season’s 2nd arc, the sins and omissions of our fathers. In the previous seasons Swagger didn’t mention his father much. But this season, Swagger is more focused on his father and his life as a Texas sheriff.

He needs to know the truth because he didn’t know about his father’s life and some aspects of the shadow we all live within. Solotov suggests that Atlas and Earl Swagger are connected.

Season 3 Ending Explained

Red Light

Bob Lee tries to end Atlas while also trying to save his marriage, and tie up any loose ends from his past. In the D.C. Series Finale, Harris, Nadine and Isaac find new roles.

Patron Saint

Atlas devises a new strategy as Bob Lee struggles between justice and his family. Isaac and Nadine look into a Jack Long thread that is not being explored. Harris is reunited with a powerful ally.

Family Fire

Bob Lee is helped by Harris; Nadine, Isaac and Julie try to recruit Atlas to their cause.

Orientation Day

Bob Lee and Isaac rob the Atlas training facility; Nadine, Harris and Harris plan to meet a key player in Atlas’ plot for power retention; Julie’s paranoia increases.

Alpha Dog

Bob Lee’s search to find Bama Jr. leads to a fringe group that causes a rift within his marriage. Isaac and Nadine use Earl’s information to meet with President’s Chief Of Staff.

The Red Badge

A plot to end Sam’s life leads to the Swaggers discovering shocking information left by Earl. This may have led to Sam’s death. Nadine, Isaac and their team attempt to take on one of Atlas’s heads.

Swing Vote

Bob Lee and Isaac are close to solving the mystery surrounding Earl’s murder; Nadine, a DOJ Agent, is sent on dangerous missions.

Lines Crossed

Bob Lee and Isaac go through the paces by Earl’s Vietnam unit member; Julie defends the Bama family; Nadine sneaks in to a high-tech security center.

A Call to Arms!

Bob Lee meets Earl to inquire about a rogue operation that took place in Vietnam. He joins Earl’s team to crash an event at D.C. where he meets an operative who is on his own mission.

The Importance of Service

Bob Lee is armed with new information and Julie follows a lead. When Harris is taken, Bob Lee joins Nadine, Isaac, and they embark on a rescue mission.

Sins of the Father

Bob Lee investigates Earl’s murder and leads him to the local slaughterhouse. Nadine and Isaac’s search to eliminate Atlas causes them to form an uneasy alliance.

Red Meat

Bob Lee visits a local jail to find answers about his father’s murder. Julie accepts a job as a family lawyer and Nadine and Isaac grab Harris Downey. He knows more about Atlas than he realizes.

Backroads

After Bob Lee is kidnapped and taken by Solotov, Julie and Isaac join forces to rescue him; Nadine confronts Hayes regarding Atlas; and new information about Earl Swagger, Bob Lee’s father, launches a new mission.

Ending Shooter

After 3X13, the show was ended. The ending was announced halfway through the season. Other networks also shopped the show. There had been plans for another season, but they could not bring it to fruition.

It was a sad ending, though it was wonderful. I haven’t read the books so I don’t know if there was anything that was added to the show or if it was a different version of the original books. After Bob Lee made the decision to retire in peace and take care of his child and wife, Julie Swagger was killed during the attack on Swaggers ranch. Red Bama refused to accept the defeat of Atlas, and the death of his son, go unpunished.

He took a shot to take out Swagger using a long gun. However, the bullet hit Julie in the neck, killing her almost immediately. Bob Lee took 3 months to find Red Bama. But once he did, Swagger walked through Canada’s snowy mountains to I presume take care of his daughter, Julie, and took out his black king rifle.
