In Aot, the thunder spear is a new technology developed by the Survey Corps. This is a new technology that was developed by the Survey Corps specifically to combat the Armored Titan.
MECHANICS Thunder Spear Aot
The technology behind the thunder spears is based on the weaponry of the Central Military Police. This mechanism was modified to fight the Armored Titan. It functions in the same way as the harpoons, weapons, and other equipment of the Anti-Personnel Three Dimensional Maneuver Team. However, this weapon has been replaced with long explosive lances. It was built according to Hange Zoe’s specifications.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING Thunder Spear Aot
Thunder spears are a weapon which offers a significant advantage over titans like the Armored Titan but also places the users at risk. The person who fires the lances in the middle or center of a well-spaced area will be trapped in the blast and cannot escape. They can also be used against other types of titans, even though they were specifically designed to combat the Armored Titan. Later, they were used to destroy the anti-Titan Artillery weapons that the Marley Army had acquired following the war against the Allied Forces of the Middle East.

HISTORY OF USES
Hange showed Corps soldiers how to fire one of the spears into the trunk of a tree during the final stages of its construction. The tree fell as the spear exploded. Hange led a squad that surrounded the Armored Titan during the Battle in Shiganshina. They first blinded the Armored Titan with two spears, then shot several spears at its head. The spears exploded within a few seconds. Although Reiner suffered a partial loss of his head, he was able to transfer his consciousness to his nervous system and survived.
After Reiner’s defeat in Shiganshina, the Colossal Titan was seen in Shiganshina. Jean, Connie, and Sasha attempted to distract him. Mikasa approached his back to shoot a spear at Bertolt. Bertolt released a powerful blast of steam, which deflected the spear’s path and pushed Mikasa higher than usual.
Reiner was able to recover from his injury and set off immediately to confront his former colleagues, who still had four spears. Mikasa used his first spear to break the Armored Titan’s leg. Sasha and Connie used the second to blow off the Armored Titan’s jaw. But one missed. Hange arrived quickly and used his remaining spear for the blowing off of the jaw. This allowed Mikasa the opportunity to fire the final spear through the titan’s open mouth, to eject Reiner from the back of his neck.
The Survey Corps used spears four years later to destroy several Marleyan squadrons on Liberio, and some of the anti–Titan Artillery around the area. Mikasa fired eight spears at the Warhammer Titan’s neck in an attempt to kill its carrier. However, it proved futile as he was able to control the titan remotely from his home. He tried unsuccessfully to break the protective crystal that protected the bearer.
During the battle against Warriors, the spears were still being used. A squad led by Jean fired many spears at the Cart Titan’s body in seconds.
They were also used to open Mikasa’s path into Eren’s Founder Titan, as well as to stop the rumbling.
