Vikings Valhalla Season 3: Everything You Need To Know
As Vikings Valhalla Season 2 came to an end, it was almost as if the season finale had come to an abrupt halt. In fact, Season 2 was a building block towards the events in Vikings Valhalla Season 3.
Season 2 of Vikings Valhalla had a brutal finale. There were the deaths of important characters, a shift in power balance, and the introduction of a new place that could be of significance in the seasons.
The story of Freydis, Leif, Harald and Queen Emma in Constantinople is not over. With that in mind, I thought I would take a look at the available information, including the release date. I also gave my predictions and theories on what could happen next. Guess what the next challenge could be for our Greenlanders, Christians, Pagans and others.
This is Vikings Valhalla Season 3: Everything we know
Vikings Valhalla Season 3 Release Date
There is some good news regarding the Vikings Valhalla Season 3 Release Date. After the success of its first season, a third season has been ordered.
We know it doesn’t mean it’s immune to cuts. There has been almost a mass cutting of shows on the platform in recent months. For now, however, the news is all positive and it looks like we’ll get Season 3 of Vikings Valhalla.
The actual release dates of the seasons were February 2022 for the first and January 2023 respectively. If we take the previous release date into account, we can assume it will be another year before we see Harald Sigurdsson, Freydis and Leif on our screens again.
I predict that the final eight episodes of the 24-episode commission will be released in January 2024.
Vikings Valhalla Season 3 Cast
This show is made so special by the cast of Vikings Valhalla. They are the currency and perform amazing performances that transport you back to the world. There have been a few deaths since Vikings Valhalla Season 2 so it is likely that there won’t be any characters returning to the show.
Jorundr and Aelfwynn are the only characters who won’t make an appearance on screen in Season 3 of Vikings Valhalla. They all met their fates at one point. Jorundr is the most heartbreaking, because I believe he would have made a great character to return in later seasons.
This means that we will see Freydis and Harald Sigurdsson return, as well as Elena, Batsu, King Canute and Queen Emma. I think we will also see Forkbeard.
It is likely that we will be introduced to characters we do not know, and they will go on to play large roles. Jomsborg, as well as Constantinople, will be more prominent in my opinion.
Vikings Valhalla Season 3 Plot
Season 2 of Vikings Valhalla was not as action-packed or raucous, but it laid the foundation for Season 3. It looks epic.
As we saw in Season 2, I believe that we will see three stories. They will come together in Vikings Valhalla Season 3, when the fight for Norway is revealed. They will meet again, despite their separation.
Viking Valhalla Before Season 3
Valhalla: A bloody, vengeful start for the Vikings
The British king Aethelred II saw the Nordic community as a threat and ordered the murder of all Scandinavians during the Night of St. Brice shortly after Harald Sigurdson left Norway for Viking Harald Sigurdson. During this night of terror, Harald’s brother Sten was murdered. Harald hears about the massacre and promises revenge, with King Canute The Great supporting him.
We also discover another way to get revenge: the quest of Leif Erikson, his sister Freydis Eiriksdottir and their attempt to capture the Viking who raped Freydis. Freydis is sentenced to death for the murder of her attacker, which she finds and kills. His brother Leif joins the ranks of Viking warriors preparing to attack London to pay off his debt. Aethelred II, Queen Emma of Normandy, and Prince Edmund are left to face the Vikings’ thirst for revenge.
The king has been executed and war has been declared
Soon, the main characters learn about the death of Aethelred II. Harald is determined to exact revenge, but this news is not enough. To get justice for his brother’s death, Harald decides to kill Edmund the new king. Emma, the mother of a newly crowned ruler, worries that Edmund’s lack of experience could lead to England’s downfall.
Freydis is attacked by a wandering warrior in Uppsala. Kare, a psychopath and dangerous criminal, discovers the body of the man that the young woman had just killed in self defense. He decides to pursue her. The battle starts in England. King Edmund is caught in a trap set by Leif and King Canute wins.
My sweet prince, hold your hand
Harald is about to kill King Edmund to seek justice for his brother’s death. King Canute intervenes. Canute would prefer to join King Edmund in order to lead England. Harald’s brother Olaf, an aspirant to be King Edmund’s successor, kidnaps Emma and her children. He threatens to kill them if they don’t reveal the location of her husband’s gold. King Canute rescues Emma and her family from Olaf. The Viking ruler and Emma from Normandy are able to fall in love and go to sleep together.
Harald learns that Olaf hides a 12-year-old boy. Freydis then meets Seer who informs Freydis that she will be the “last one.” King Canute toasts and announces that Freydis and Leif’s debts have been forgiven during the celebrations following the battle. To end the banquet in style, King Canute declares that Streona has been a traitor and cuts off her head. This is what we call a successful Viking party.
The tenderness…
King Canute and Emma are married, while Harald and Freydis confess their love for one another. Sven, King Canute’s father with the Forked Beard takes over the role of his son, and he must go to Denmark to wage war. Edmund attempts to seize control of the throne but fails. Freydis is sent a message by Kare, who tells Freydis that he will not stop at anything to kill her. Soon after, Edmund is involved in a horse accident and is then stabbed to death on the ground. Harald and Olaf, who were at odds, reach an agreement. Leif and Freydis don’t appreciate the rapprochement of the brothers and turn their backs upon Harald. Kare then launches an attack on Haakan and his archers inflict wounds on her. Freydis’ friend Haakan is saved by Freydis, but finds herself facing Kare. The warrior confronts her and gets the upper hand. He then cuts off her head.
The first season ends with Emma winning the throne in England, and Olaf becoming King of Norway. The King has no time for celebrations as King Sweyn’s army assaults. Olaf sees the terror in Olaf’s men and decides to go with them. Leif kills each of the invaders as they try to rape females. Leif is seen in the blood of his enemies. This concludes season 1. His sister Freydis, Harald’s fiancee, is still on the run.
Vikings Valhalla Season 2 Recap

In the Season 2 finale, a number of important and minor characters die. Freydis is most notable for killing Olaf after she defeats the Pagan hunter. She also burns his entire fleet in port. Freydis beats Olaf in the final battle by stabbing his torso.
Olaf claims he will become a martyr for the Christian cause. Freydis, however, correctly points out that no one will tell his story. Although it is not clear how Harald, his half-brother, would react to the news this could only exacerbate tensions.
Mariam and Jorundr were also among the victims of the finale. Jorundr, who aided Jomsborg’s assault against Olaf’s fleet, died a hero’s demise. Mariam, a long-term illness, died, but Leif was given some direction in his own life.
Two mothers declare their peace at the end of Season 2. Freydis has returned to Kattegat and requests a ceasefire between Queen Elfgifu, the soldiers from Norway, and Freydis. This is the end of a season where it seems that Freydis has found her dream mother-to-be.
There are still some wild cards, such as King Sweyn and Canute, who might not want peace now Olaf is dead.
Leif and Harald
Leif and Harald are now at Constantinople. The capital of the Byzantine Empire was the Vikings’ most distant destination during their journey. They will find a pleasant life and much wealth there. It remains to be seen whether they will choose to return to Scandinavia or to settle in the harbor town.
Constantinople will play an important role in the third season of Vikings Valhalla, which expands to the farthest reaches of the continent. Harald falls in love with Elena, perhaps feeling betrayed by Freydis’s decision to keep her pregnancy secret.
We learned by the end of the season that Elena was headed to Constantinople, where she would become the next Empress along with Emperor Romanos. Harald is made to understand by Elena that their relationship will not end. To reclaim Elena, Harald will need to take the risk of becoming an empire if he truly loves her. Vikings Valhalla Season 3 will examine whether Harald believes it is worth the risk.
Godwin and Queen Emma

Godwin achieved what he desired, but he still regrets how he got it. The most complex plot involves Godwin. It’s difficult to determine what to believe based on the duplicity of the Earl of Wessex.
The assassination attempt against Queen Emma was stopped during Season 2. However, the perpetrator was the long-lost half-brother of Godwin. She is tortured if she refuses any information about the conspiracy.
Here is where things get a little blurry. It is clear that Godwin, despite his pain, has arranged the circumstances for King Canute to connect him with his niece out of pity.
A future son can then become a member of the Royal family and fulfill his dream of having a child on England’s throne. Emma, however, believes Godwin was involved in everything. He even mentored the assassin. Emma is more familiar with Godwin’s history and background.
The Earl of Wessex may one day become a member of the Royal family. However, the Queen of England will always have an ace in her sleeve to help manage him if needed. This interaction will be explored in more detail in Vikings Valhalla Season 3. Emma may need someone to help her get dirty.
