Which episode does Itachi die the first time?

Itachi is killed in episode 138. This episode is called The End. After he used most of his energy to rescue Orochimaru from Orochimaru, he got into a fight with Sasuke.

Zetsu notices the thunderclouds rising above them and realizes they were created by Sasuke’s Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique combined with the heat from Itachi’s inextinguishable Amaterasu.

Sasuke uses his new Jutsu Kirin to harness the lightning in his sky and his chakra to kill Itachi.

Itachi is standing up after Kirin’s hit. Thanks to his Susanoo (a huge chakra protector that is only available to those who have the Mangekyo Sharingan in each eye), Itachi has survived. Sasuke feels that he has finally won.

Itachi approaches Sasuke as he is out of chakra. The suppressed Orochimaru that Sasuke had absorbed begins to take control of his body.

Orochimaru’s eight white serpents burst from Sasuke’s cursed seal using The Eight Branches Technique. Orochimaru exited through one of the snake’s mouths. He thanked Itachi for lowering Sasuke’s chakra and was grateful for another chance at taking over Sasuke.

Itachi kills seven of the eight snakes using his Susanoo’s Sword of Totsuka. This sword has the ability to seal souls and keep them indefinitely. It seals Orochimaru away and removes Sasuke’s cursed seal.

This consumes too much chakra and reduces Itachi’s Susanoo back to its most basic form. Itachi coughs up blood and slowly approaches Sasuke. He is unable to escape him. Itachi, as he approaches Sasuke, speaks his last words and pokes his forehead, before he falls to the ground, dead.

Sasuke contemplates Itachi’s last words, and then gazes at his brother before collapsing beside him, exhausted. While he had many more meaningful words to say, his simple “Sorry Sasuke” remained a favorite.

Itachi’s death is often misunderstood as if he was murdered by his brother. This is false. Although the two were clearly at war, it is clear that Sasuke was determined to punish his brother for his parents’ and clan’s deaths. However, he never succeeded in doing so.

Itachi chose to fight against his brother because he was already ill. This is something many people forget. To spare his brother, he kept the illness secret and was using large amounts of medication to stay alive.

He chose to confront his brother to win because he was sure to beat him. This battle was also Mangekyo Sharingan training for Sasuke which made it easier to fight other opponents.

He said, “I’ve always been lying to you and asked for your forgiveness because I didn’t want you to get involved in any of it but now I think that maybe ‘YOU’ could have changed the Uchiha mother and father if I had come straight to you from the beginning and looked straight into your eyes and shared the truth with you, who failed, telling this all now from above it’s not going to penetrate or sink in.” Itachi’s fans were able to see a new side to him, and they didn’t have to forgive him.
