Netflix renewed Snowpiercer for Season 4, which was announced on July 29, 2021. Season three is still in development.

Preview Before Snowpiercer Season 4

Before getting to the heart of the matter, let’s do a little reminder.

The Original Sinners

Episode 10 of Snowpiercer Season 3 begins with Melanie reflecting back on the way she has shattered many of the Snowpiercer’s dreams. Her truth-telling has caused the train to fracture once again, with those who believe and those who do not. Wilford, in the face of the growing threat, has seized the opportunity and is now with Audrey, enjoying the coming battle.

Despite Layton’s lies, the battle lines have been drawn. While the Tailies support Layton, the top-echelon of society, including all Brakemen, join Wilford. Melanie is there, right in the middle. The “Tail Army”, who are determined to take control of the train, change its course and force it toward New Eden, have taken over the train. Melanie and the other members are ready to fight for that outcome.

Osweiller departs and takes charge of the Nightcar with Wilford. Roche arrives with the troops, however, and gives them two hours to change their minds or stand down. This is met with a resounding, “no chance.”

Bojan Boscovic, Wilford’s tank, is back. He is now scarred and unable to take pain. Wilford then sets Bojan Boscovic free on the train. Ruth follows him and defeats him with a vent.

But Wilford is outsmarted by Melanie and Andre who double-cross Wilford and force him into the same carriage Melanie brought. Javi has enough suspension fluid to last him six months. He uses a crane for his lift from the train onto the track adjacent, where he will stay until season 4. “Now we will see who is the true survivor,” he whispers as he heads in another direction towards the Snowpiercer.

Melanie and Layton have the schemer gone so they allow passengers to vote on their choice of what to do. In just six hours, the train will split and everyone will have to decide which side they want to go on.

To build tension and prepare for season 4, the friendships are severed between the two sides. Alex decides to stay with Layton, while Melanie splits. Till makes a decision and decides to jump over with Audrey. Bennet and Javi find themselves on different sides, while Osweiller is separated from LJ. However, LJ chokes on something after being shoved on her by an unknown person. LJ falls to the ground as she gasps for breath.

New Eden is reached by train. Despite Melanie’s claim that it was below 0 degrees, water is available, the sun is shining down on the land, and there’s not a lot of snow. Perhaps this is the place where you are looking for home?

We had to wait three months before we could be certain. Then, we jumped ahead three months and followed Melanie’s train. The rocket lifts off into the sky and then explodes in the distance. This could be a hint that there is another colony…but who? Season 4 will be here soon!

Season Last Episode Review

That was quite a mess! This episode of Snowpiercer’s final episode ends with a hurried finale that rushes through a fake conflict. It doesn’t feel real when the train breaks down into two opposing sides, seemingly without warning. It’s a show that has a tendency to throw in huge finales. That’s okay. But, most of the content here feels more like it’s prepping for Season 4, rather than actually progressing the characters or story.

It’s basically back to square one, with Melanie and Wilford switching places. We are back on the train, but it is divided in two. Although New Eden has been found, the reward doesn’t feel as well earned.

Personally, I believe it would have been nice to see the train unite as one and make it to New Eden, only to discover that it isn’t paradise, but it is just as hostile as it was before. Let’s say Melanie loses faith in Wilford, and then the train splits in two.

You could then have Layton and others going out onto the ice while Melanie and her friends leave. Layton climbs a mountain in their absence to see the site they are looking for and then finds it just beyond the horizon.

There is hope that season 4 will have a new showrunner, but season 3 ends with a very disappointing conclusion to an otherwise disappointing season.

When is Snowpiercer season 4 coming out? (Release Date)

The official release date for Snowpiercer season 4 has not yet been announced. The fourth season of Snowpiercer can be expected sometime in 2023. It might be on TNT as the first season. Let’s wait and see what happens next.

Review Before To Watch Snowpiercer Season 4

Snowpiercer is one of the most surprising TV adaptations of a film. TNT’s series of episodes featuring a post-apocalyptic train riding around the world has been a success.

Season 2’s finale hinted at 10 episodes of dramatic action. Unfortunately, season 3 delivers a rambling and unfocused season that isn’t sure where it wants to take its story.

Snowpiercer ended with the train splitting in half. Mr. Wilford was now in charge of Snowpiercer, turning the train into a hierarchical nightmare. Layton and his motley crew of rebels find themselves on Big Alice, desperate to unify the train and defeat Wilford.

Layton discovers a hidden truth that could alter everything we know about the world. This leads to an unexpected and surprising turn of events, which encapsulates the second half of the season, and takes the train in a completely new direction.

I won’t spoil the story, but suffice it to say that this quest involves a lucrative promised country that could be the salvation Layton and all others have been searching for.

There’s also the quest for Melanie, still missing and presumed deceased. But… Is she really there?

These plotlines grab the majority of the season, but with 10 episodes to go, it feels like there is enough material to fill 5 or 6.

There are some completely uninteresting episodes in this bottle, including one that is dedicated to an inconsequential nightmare. Other episodes are focused on superficial issues, which are solved without much effort at the end.

It feels like this is a regular occurrence in the season, which is a shame since there’s some great material here.

The mediocre is a huge distraction from the good, and this season’s run-time is dominated by a dull and forgettable story.

Season 4 will see a new showrunner. There is definitely potential to turn the train around. This season’s ending sets the stage for a new season and is a great way to inspire hope among those who are disillusioned by the direction this year.

Snowpiercer sometimes struggles to balance its many characters. Some deaths are inevitable, and there are some character twists that don’t work. Till is a prime example.

LJ is given little to no development, and it’s only late in the season that she has something tangible to work with.

There’s plenty to enjoy here, but the third season feels like a blip in the road.

This show has been a huge favorite of mine over the years. It’s disappointing that Snowpiercer Season 3 suffers such a severe drop in quality. We’re hoping that this train will get back on track next season. Snowpiercer Season 4.

The producer decides that Snowpiercer’s next season will be made. It will likely feature 10 episodes or more, just like previous seasons. The future season will have at least 10 episodes.
