The End Of Superman & Lois Season 2 Explained

Season 2 of “Superman & Lois” has a tendency to tease many things before turning into something entirely different. Season 2 of Bizarro World is a season that juggles several main threats before Ally Allston, played by Rya Kihlstedt, becomes the show’s dangerous Parasite. The final episode, “Waiting for Superman”, reveals that the Arrowverse was not the original setting. Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), is the only superpowered superhero in the Arrowverse.

Clark and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) face new challenges when they discover that there is no non-Kryptonian Metahuman backup. This is especially true since the power levels of the show’s antagonists are far more powerful than the average Arrowverse villain. This is a superhero show so evil is defeated by the end of the season… or at least Ally’s brand of evil. The season’s end features familiar faces as well as teases about bigger threats. Superman finds a way to gain an advantage over any future dangers and builds a new oceanic Fortress of Solitude.

Let’s look at what the ending to “Superman & Lois Season 2” might mean for the future of the show.

Superman is known for his ability to absorb the sun’s energy. Ally Allston’s energy absorption power and Ally Allston are also responsible for keeping him out of commission for part of the season. Ally merges her Inverse World version with hers, and she is so powerful, not even Superman can hold a candle to her.

“Waiting For Superman” concludes the redemption story of Superman’s half-brother Tal Rho (Adam Rayner), formerly known as Morgan Edge. The prodigal son aids the disabled Superman to the Sun, which will dramatically increase his power recharge time. This is a solid plan, comic book readers will know. Clark soon regains his powers, and then more, which allows him, essentially, to charge at Ally using a temporary, game-changing power up.

This trick has been used by many Superman versions over the years to achieve different, but often impressive results. Superman Prime, the DC One Million storyline’s most powerful version, lived in the Sun for 15,000 years to supercharge his power. It’s hard to imagine how powerful the “Superman & Lois” version of the character might be over a longer stay. Judging from how strong his power boost, it’s not difficult to see how much. This may be explored in future seasons.

It’s not difficult to imagine that “Superman & Lois”, which finally addressed Arrowverse canonicity in Season 2, will embrace the fact that the episode takes place on an alternate version of Earth to other Arrowverse shows. The episode’s second appearance is when John Diggle (David Ramsey), “Arrow” mainstay, makes a cameo, sitting down with John Henry Irons (Wole Parks) to discuss why this Earth’s Irons has died.

Arrowverse Diggle, the main Arrowverse character, is strongly implied to end his “Arrow” run by becoming Green Lantern. This would fit the season finale’s assertion that Superman is the only powered hero on the planet. It would be cool to see the character finally wield the power ring, after the short tease in “Arrow”‘s series finale. However, Season 2 of “Superman & Lois” suggests that this Diggle may stay around for the Intergang plotline. And, much like Irons or Tal-Rho in Season 1, the ARGUS agent appears to be much more in tune with Superman than he was in Season 1. We may never know. Who knows?

Ally and the Bizarro World seem to be gone. After lavishly gifting the Kent children with parting gifts, Tal Rho also leaves the show and moves to the Bizarro World to possibly become their new Superman. The show is left with few real threats to “Superman & Lois Season 3″… until Diggle and Irons name-drop Bruno Mannheim in a conversation.

This confirms that Mannheim and Intergang, his criminal organization, will be appearing in Season 3. Although the group may not be among Superman’s most well-known foes, it is worth noting that Mannheim, his criminal organization, Intergang, is, in all actuality, a minion of one big-time villain. Darkseid, one of DC’s most terrifying and powerful villains, is a key player in “The Justice League” Snyder Cut. Mannheim may be facing the threat of Apokolips’ ruler, or at least one of his lesser-known minions.

One thing is certain: Someone very, very bad is on the horizon. Elizabeth Tulloch revealed the identity of a new Season 3 villain to fans during a red carpet event. The star stated that she knew that the show was getting a “very cool villain”. Although she didn’t give any details, it would not be surprising to see one of Superman’s most powerful enemies. It’s understandable that some viewers didn’t like Ally Allston’s villain story, so the show might want to ramp up its villain game for Season 3.

Superman & Lois renewed their contract for a third season on March 22, 2022. It will air again on March 14, 2023.
