The Owl House Season 2 Preview

Although “The Owl House” was not a groundbreaking series when it began, Season 2 saw the series make history on Disney+ with its representation of LGBTQ characters. This alone merits praise, but the storytelling in “The Owl House” deserves its own discussion. Season 2 featured relatable characters with relationships that started, evolved, and ended. It revealed surprising truths and opened up new mysteries.

It would be an understatement to say that the story was enjoyable. It’s not easy to tell a compelling story about many interconnected characters with different backgrounds, personalities, and motivations. “The Owl House” has grown in both quality and complexity. Season 2 is worth a second look, but it also requires careful analysis to understand how it became one of the most popular series on Disney+. This is how “The Owl House” Season 2 ended and what it meant to these iconic characters.

Eda has taken control of her curse

The curse has had a devastating effect on Eda’s life throughout Season 2. It has caused Eda to withdraw from her friends and her father to become ill. She discovered a way to stop the curse from getting worse and was able to deal with its other effects. However, she still views it as the root of all her problems.

Eda’s curse may have a deeper meaning, however. According to YouTube channel Toon Ruins, there are many parallels between Eda’s family’s reaction to her curse and the way people respond to mental illness. Eda’s mom refuses to accept her daughter’s method of managing her curse, and even the opinions of experts while trying to find a cure. Lilith, however, is not aware of the pain that the curse has caused Eda. She only experiences it for herself.

Eda has a breakthrough when she’s induced into a magically enhanced state of sleep in Season 2’s episode “Knock, Knock, Knockin’ at Hooty’s Door”. She tries to make the beast pay for her actions, such as pushing people away, but it ignores her responsibility. Eda soon realizes that the beast is tied to her against her will, and she decides to comfort it before asking to end the truce. Eda awakens to find that she has a powerful harpy shape.

Willow embarks on a journey to self-improvement

We learn from the first season that Willow is not performing well at magic because she follows the abomination track, which she isn’t good at. Odalia Blight ordered Amity to stop seeing her because she wanted her daughter to only be able to socialize with powerful witches. After her mother threatened to expel Willow from school, Amity agrees. Willow is bullied and isolated for many years after being expelled from Hexide.

Willow is now able to mend her relationship with Amity in Season 2. However, she still feels the need to prove those who thought her a weakling were wrong. She begins to exercise and train at home. This makes her better at Grudgby and helps with plant magic. She also gains self-esteem. This positive effect of exercise seems to be supported in a study published by Neuropsychiatric Disorder and Treatment.

Despite all these positive improvements, Willow’s old friend Amity seems to be unaware of them. Amity and Willow are forced to fight coven guards during an attack on the school. Amity ignores Willow’s efforts to coordinate an attack, and instead tries to take control. This only leads to confusion. Frustrated, Willow uses both her physical and magical abilities to defeat the guards. This forces Amity to realize that her friend is stronger than she thought.

Gus takes illusion magic up a notch

Many characters treat illusion magic as weak, but Gus proves them wrong in Season 2. He uses it to trick his enemies and protect his friends. His skill is able to get him into higher-level classes but it ends up being a double-edged sword.

Gus is a more attractive target because he is younger than his peers. Gus is often used to assist students with difficult assignments. Students act like they want to get along, but actually use him. Gus suffers from this problem. He loses control of his illusions during stressful situations and creates vivid illusions to help him get out of those situations. Willow shows Gus a breathing technique that helps him relax and regain control. This can be helpful in managing anxiety symptoms.

Gus can cast a stronger version of this spell after the head of Illusion Coven attempts to label him with an “abomination symbol”. This causes him to panic and to encase Hexisde within a mirage. A magic monocle is used later to access Gus’ past memories, which triggers a spell that causes him to relive some of his worst memories. Hunter rescues Gus and reminds him that Gus believed he deserved it after his past experiences with those who exploited him. He can relax and manage the spell after this realization.

Amity finally lets go of her mother’s hold on her

Amity is introduced to the world as an independent, skilled character. Her peers envy her for her school performance and social standing. We find out that Amity must deal with Odalia Blight, her controlling mother. She often invalidates her choices and uses personal attacks. Psychology Today describes these tactics as common to manipulative parents. This is how Odalia Blight, her manipulative mother, uses it to decide who Amity will befriend, what she does after school and what color her hair dyes.

Season 2 sees Amity slowly standing up to her parents. She threatens Odalia to kill one of her Abomatons if she doesn’t keep her friends from Hexside. Later, Amity participates in Bonesborough Brawl to become a champion like her father. This is something that her mother regards as a waste. Amity realizes that her mother was planning to kill the witches and only then breaks free. She realizes that her mother is only interested in gaining more power and vows to never speak with her again.

The relationship between Luz and Amity has to overcome many obstacles

CherryPicks says that Luz and Amity’s love story is “one of the most accurate depictions of queer love in animation” because it moves at a “natural speed.” Both characters attempt to find new excuses to spend time together and to express their confusion to family members during Season 2. It’s only when Hooty invites Amity to their home and makes a confession that Luz finally gets the courage to ask Amity out. However, Amity ends up asking Luz first. Each character tries to be a good friend in the episodes that follow. This proves harder than they expected.

Amity feels tempted to watch a video on Luz’s phone because she senses something is wrong and doesn’t want to share it. In this instance, Amity sees the portal being destroyed. Luz, on the other side, doesn’t want to be a burden and complain about her problems. Luz, on the other hand, is reluctant to talk about how conflicted and depressed she feels about telling her mother that she will be home and not return to the demon realm. This leads to the couple having different understandings and their first fight. Amity and Luz discover that they cannot support one another if they don’t share their feelings.

Luz’s altruism may be an indicator of a deeper problem

Luz is bright, as her name implies. Luz has a positive outlook that is almost constant. She also shows a willingness to help others. She is one of the most sympathetic characters on the series. Viewers can’t help but want her to succeed and be rewarded at the end of the series. Psyche explains that while society encourages people-pleasers, this level of self-sacrifice may also indicate low self-esteem, stress, or depression.

Bunny Skies, a YouTube channel, describes Luz as someone who is always trying to help others. Sometimes, she even puts her own well-being first. Luz discovers that she has accidentally helped Belos by traveling back in time to meet Phillip, a self-destructive tendency that only gets worse. Although this realization could have caused any character to fall into depression, it was enough for Luz to decide to give her life to save the Boiling Islands.

Hunter is able to find redemption in an identity crisis

In the first episode, Hunter, also known by the Golden Guard, is introduced. He is the nephew and right-hand of Emperor Belos. He is given multiple tasks, including slaying monsters and obtaining more of Belos’ palismenwood. He is determined to prove his worth after repeated failures.

This is until he discovers the truth about Belos. Hunter is trapped in Belos’ mind in “Hollow Mind”. Surprised and horrified, Hunter discovers via flashbacks that Belos created fake wild magic attacks to get people’s support. He discovers that he is actually Caleb, a clone of Belos’ brother. Belos’ story that wild magic users had destroyed his family ends up being false. It is a psychological projection of Caleb’s guilt in murdering his brother when he attempted to start a family.

Hunter, who has no family or identity, panics when Belos discovers that Hunter is hiding at Hexside. He fears that he will kill him just like the Golden Guards. Gus provides support and helps Hunter manage his anxiety. He feels obliged to protect him and return the favor. He joins the rest to fight Belos directly during “King’s Tide”.

Belos uses fear to control others

In a confusing way, Phillip’s past as a witch hunter is revealed to Belos. These events are told through flashbacks, recreations of his diary and glimpses at memories in paintings. They don’t always follow chronological order. It becomes clear by the end that Belos has gained power through clever fear manipulation of the Boiling Islands witches.

For example, we know that Belos uses faked wild magic attacks in order to instigate fear towards people who use this type of magic. This technique, Dr. Diane E. Dreher reminds you in Psychology Today, has historically been used to gain followers by authoritarians. This allows Belos the opportunity to claim that he is the only one who can protect witches against this new threat. His persuasive skills are so powerful that he has managed to persuade thousands of witches over the years to get a seal that would restrict their ability to use different types of magic.

King discovers his true origin

Hunter isn’t the only one who discovers that everything he thought he knew was false. King takes Lilith, Hooty and Luz on a tour of the ruins of the uncharted island he grew up on in “Echoes of the Past”. King realizes that the murals depicting similar scenes in his childhood inspired his memories of leading a legion of demons to feast and ruling. King is determined to find out more about his history, even if he has to deal with the revelation.

King receives a mysterious invitation in Season 2, Episode “Edge of the World”, after he has sent a message to the Boiling Islands looking for other people like him. King is greeted by a group with similar looks and a friendly demeanor. However, he soon discovers that the skulls and fur were only a disguise to look like their prey. King discovers that the sinister cult worships The Collector and lives to hunt Titans, inadvertently disclosing his true identity as Titan.

It seems inevitable that King and Collector will have to face off

King uses his powers to release the Collector from his magical prison. King makes this decision in an attempt to stop the draining spell causing harm to the Boiling Islands witches. This is something that even Belos cannot do. King proposes to teach the Collector a fun activity that requires all the witches in the realm to participate in order to persuade him. The entity is as unpredictable as it is powerful.

The Collector is a childlike personality and has the potential to be more dangerous than Belos. The Collector is also bitter at Belos for not fulfilling his promise to free him. This could lead to the destruction of the Emperor. It’s possible that the Collector will pursue King if he discovers that King’s promise to him is a lie to get him to do what his heart desires. Vicente22, a fan of the characters, has pointed out that they have much in common. Both are young and powerful, and The Collector doesn’t learn to care about others, but King does, and this could help him to empathize with other people.

Belos may have been able to return to the human realm

In Season 2, Episode 2, we see Belos’ slimy body defeated by the Collector. One touch of the Collector can send Belos through the chamber, turning him into a liquid stain over the portal. We see a portion of this substance drop on Hunter’s shoulders as he enters the human realm. During the credits, more drops fall from the roof on Hunter’s side of the portal. This suggests that Belos is finally back in the human world. However, it’s possible that his return might not be as smooth as he expected.

Although it is possible that Belos was born in the same place as Luz, he predates Luz by many centuries. This could explain Belos’s aversion to anything that is not the norm. He interpreted magic and witches in a way that was unacceptable and must be eradicated. His authoritarian worldview has led to multiple human rights violations and he’s committed numerous crimes. Even if Belos can find a way to retain his human form, the people will likely find his ideology as monstrous and his methods just as horrible as his palisman form.

The Owl House Season 3 Release Date

Publicly revealing the release date for The Owl House Season 3 has yet to be done. It will likely be announced soon, we believe. According to the final episode schedule, the third season of “The Owl House” will air on Disney Channel sometime around 2022 or at the beginning of 2023. The publication of the final episode from season 2 will bring out all the Owl House fans. It will air on May 28, 2022. Fans can’t wait for the third season of The Owl House comedy series.

The Owl House Season 3 Renewal Status

The second season of the show has been divided into two parts: 2A and 2B. The show’s final part, 2B, will air in 3:44 minute episodes. This is a significant reduction from the previous seasons. The Disney channel is supporting Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill. This bans discussing sexual orientation or gender identity in elementary schools.

Although Dana Terrace, the creator of the show, is furious at the channel for its anti-LGBTQ stance, she disagrees with this reason. Because the show doesn’t fit in the Disney brand, she has accepted that it is ending.

The Owl House: The Conclusion

Fans and producers of The Owl House are in for a terrible surprise as The Owl House is being canceled before the show could reach its potential heights and remain in the game until they are satisfied. Showrunner and makers seem to be at odds about whether the show will continue, primarily because of the representation of a lesbian couple and a character who is not a woman.
