Women at War Les Combattantes is a limited series of eight episodes that runs for approximately 50 minutes each. It was created by Cecile Lorne, and directed by Alexandre Laurent. It was broadcast originally on European channels before being streamed on Netflix.

The End of Women At War Explained

Imagine the sound of war cries ringing in your ears. It was all they knew for those four French women. Marguerite was just moving from Paris to Saint-Paulin. Suzanne was trying to avoid prosecution for performing illegal abortions. Caroline was saying goodbye and Agnes was overwhelmed when the injured soldiers came in on a conveyor belt.

Marguerite is offered a job as a prostitute and sets up her own system. Marguerite has made it clear that she will work whenever she likes, and the pimp at her brothel seems to be no exception. After satisfying a few customers she finds the location of the soldier’s quarters. She visits them and observes them through her binoculars.

Suzanne has, however, become a fugitive in Saint Paulin. She had hoped to travel to Switzerland but will be forced to wait. Things have gotten worse at the convent and Agnes is rattled by the death of her family on the farm. Suzanne has stepped up to assist the convent and all her escape plans instantly evaporate when she looks at the wounded soldiers. Caroline has tried to win the respect of those who work for her, but they all doubt her abilities as a businessperson. She does her best to assure them that everything will be fine at the factory.

Agnes meets a patient while on the road after the first wave. He is severely traumatized and has been disturbed for a long time. After taking him in, and caring for other patients like him, the convent decided to continue fighting against soldiers who wanted to send them back. Caroline gains the trust of her workers despite the fact that the men were forced to draft, their main order was canceled and her brother-in-law is actively against her.

Marguerite has known Caroline for many years. Marguerite was also a sex worker. The relationship is fraught because Caroline left the brothel to marry without telling anyone. Marguerite’s French maps discovery made it difficult for her. The brothel manager finds out that the man in Marguerite’s suitcase is actually her son. He invites him to the brothel, making things more difficult.

Agnes was suspicious about Suzanne’s origins and her activities there. She isn’t convinced by the “I want Saint-Paulin to escape” story. Agnes accepts her commitment to helping others and decides to let Agnes be. After developing feelings for the German man she met on the road, she has an identity crisis. Marguerite is caught up in the crossfire at the soldier’s quarters, and she has to drive her car to the military medical center.

Caroline is inspired to turn the trucks into ambulances for the hospital. They were driven by all the prostitutes. Suzanne is caught lying about her identity by ‘Jeanne,’ her husband. This is how he blackmails her into becoming an accomplice in a crime, which is treason. Caroline just learned that her husband is dead. She cannot speak out because her brother-in-law may seize the opportunity.

She can tell them the truth after they receive the president’s awards. While Agnes is completing the award ceremony, Agnes discovers that the bishop at the church has been attacking the novitiates in God’s name. Agnes cannot look at the Bishop during the award ceremony. Marguerite discovers that her son is obsessed with her and is doing her best to keep away.

Caroline’s family discovers the news just after the ceremony. They almost throw Caroline out, but they remember Caroline and decide to keep her. Juliette, a former sex worker, sees Marguerite kiss Caroline and tells Marcel. The brother-in-law of Caroline’s brothel manager was once a friend. The family slaps her after learning about her past.

Caroline’s little girl is forced to stay at home and makes her vulnerable. She crosses enemy territory, almost getting killed, but a German officer offers help and keeps her safe. After the gas attacks, soldiers began to retreat from the frontlines as the attacks got worse. France then decides to attack the frontlines once more, but they expect to lose some land so they evacuate Saint Paulin.

Marguerite, who is still at home to be with her son, gets shot while searching for him in the creek. The mother and her son touch their hands for a brief moment. Marguerite appears to have moved on, accepting that gesture as acceptance.

It is not known if she regains consciousness. It is possible, however, that she and her son have a real reunion. There would be stories to exchange. This show is a great way to learn about everyone’s personality while still keeping it light-hearted.

Women at War Season 2 Release date

Season 2 of Women at War is still on hold. The series was originally only broadcast in France by Quad Television. Women at War’s debut season was released in September 2022, if we aren’t mistaken.

The epic drama series quickly caught our attention and is now available on Netflix. Fans are now wondering if the show will return for another season. Many people believe that the Netflix drama will only last one season, even though nothing has been confirmed.

Women at War Season 2 Plot

Season 1 of Woman at War ended with Caroline, Madeleine and Eleonore fleeing the battlefield to go to Touraine. There wasn’t much to learn about it. The first season is set in 1914, the first year of the 4-year war. The show could return for a second season to continue showing how women felt and lived during the rest of World War II.

Cecile Lorne is not based on any book or other media. Therefore, if the show were to go on for another season, Cecile Lorne might choose to focus on a different group or country of women. However, this is unlikely for a French-based show.

Review Before To Watch Women At War Season 2

French-Belgian dramatized historical drama “Les Combattantes” is set in a small French village at the start of the First World War. Initial optimism was high that the battle would be short, but it didn’t happen. To stop the German army trying to invade Paris the French army engaged with the Germans at Saint Paulin, Vosges.

Once the breadwinners of a household go to war, things start to become real. After that, the breadwinners of the household leave for war. It is up to women to manage their professional and personal lives.

Women at War provides a glimpse into the lives and hardships of those who were left behind to support their families during this terrible war. It focuses on the many contributions of women to wartime occupations. The vast majority of these are overlooked in this setting.

We follow the story of a nun experiencing a crisis within her belief system. There are challenges all around her congregation. A nursing assistant is fleeing the police. A prostitute is looking for someone she lost many years ago. And a woman who takes over her partner’s manufacturing plant when he goes to war.

The series was created by Cecile Lorne and Camille Treiner. It portrays four women as the protagonists, and their relationships with the people around them. It is difficult to not get caught up in the storyline, and the futures of the women. The storyline is constantly changing over eight episodes as many secrets are revealed. This forces the protagonists to face the truths that they have been trying to avoid.

Surprising alliances are also formed and new foes are found. Despite this, women show extraordinary courage and resilience and are able to find solutions to problems that may seem impossible. Everybody has a role to play in the bigger picture as the enemy advances upon them in greater numbers. The clock is ticking.

It takes a unique approach to exploring the show’s world and it is very interesting. While war and soldiers are the main focus of many movies and TV shows, it’s interesting to look at things from the perspectives of the wives who have left. It is simply stunning and has a warlike atmosphere that makes it a visual delight.

The show falls short of its mark, however, becoming more melodramatic, soap opera-esque, and less realistic than it was in the beginning.

Sister Genevieve is on the verge of suicide, but Mother Agnes sees it and rushes to get help. We also see Suzanne operating on Joseph, even though he is conscious. And, most shockingly, he is actually directing her through the entire procedure. These bizarre soap elements are a disappointment, considering that the show began with very real and logical problems.

They are all brilliant in their roles, and their characters really grab your attention and pull you in. The fact that these characters are complex grey characters makes it easier to empathize and relate to them. The side characters, along with the main protagonists, fit perfectly into their roles and do an outstanding job in their respective roles. The antagonists also have a redeeming quality, which makes them more real and sympathetic.

Women at War’s approach is good overall. However, they could have done better with the execution. They should have kept the first three episodes’ level of realistic reality throughout and cut out all the melodramatic scenes. This one is still worth watching, despite a few hiccups.

How many episodes of Women at War Season 2 will there be?

It is not yet known if Women at War will be renewed for a second series. It is possible to predict the number of episodes produced if Women at War returns. Based on the first season, we expect the second season will have at least eight episodes.
