She also stated that she pulled the trigger five times on the revolver because she was “tensed up” when she entered the bedroom.

The prosecution countered that she pulled the trigger intentionally, as she could still change the aim of her gun before pointing it at Dan and his wife, and then shooting them to death. Further, the prosecution pointed out that she also unplugged her phone, preventing the couple from calling for help.

After a long wait, the jury announced its verdict at the end of the episode. Betty was found guilty of two counts in second-degree murder and sentenced to 35 years imprisonment. We saw Betty doing another interview over the phone. She told us the songs she used to sing with Dan.

According to the song, she recalls dancing along with Dan’s lines in childhood. Then she began to think about all the pivotal moments in her relationship with Dan and wondered what might have happened if they had done things differently. Betty is unable to obtain representation due to Dan’s high ranking status as a lawyer. While her refusal to allow Dan to control her is both frustrating and understandable, it is also fascinating to see her transformation from a loving caregiver to a fierce advocate for her rights. Betty quit her career in order to help Dan. This left Betty broke and separated from her children, while Dan controlled the huge sums he claimed to. It was the subject of much controversy at the time.

Dirty John season two doesn’t focus too much on who the “Dirty John” is, but instead focuses on the cruelty of divorce. The LA Times Podcast was available before the broadcast. It contains more interesting details and voices from some of the participants, but it isn’t as compelling as Dirty John’s original pod. This is perhaps why this show has been a little more successful than season 1.
