Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the latest anime theatrical release, is Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The popularity of anime continues to rise, making it just as mainstream as other movie genres. It’s not surprising that Jujutsu Kaisen is now in theaters all over the world.
Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the most popular anime, was launched in fall 2019. Yuji Itadori is a teenage Jujutsu sorcerer who trains and learns to defeat these spirits and demons. Jujutsu Kaisen Zero will not feature Itadori or his friends, but instead will focus on Yuta Okkotsu, a new character.
5 reasons why you should love this film
1) It’s a Prequel
It can be difficult and daunting to get into anime. It can be difficult to get into anime, especially when you are starting with an animated feature set within the same world. Although you might expect a good time when you go to the movie theater, you can easily feel lost or confused if you don’t pay for the ticket. Jujutsu Kaisen0: The Movie is the perfect way to get into the anime series.
It’s a prequel! This means that you not only learn about Yuta Okkotsu the lead character, but also about the world and the three series characters, Maki, Panda, and Toge.
Jujutsu Kaisen does a fantastic job as a series. It gets the audience involved in the side characters and not the “chosen” one. This is also true for the feature film. Watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and you’ll not only get an engaging story, but also a trio that is both well-designed and beautifully written. It provides some background and impact but also sets the series up perfectly.
2) MAPPA’s Animation
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is hands-down the best animation I’ve ever seen in a movie. Studio MAPPA cranks up the volume from the action sequences to the creature design to the capturing of deep emotional moments. MAPPA has gone to great lengths to create an action-packed feature film with a high standard set by anime.
Jujutsu Kaisen0 is unlike Mugen Train. Despite putting characters we’ve seen fight before, it doesn’t look more like Mugen Train. Add to that the disturbing and horrifying design of Rika, which is equal parts creepy and brutal, and MAPPA keeps it going.
3) A quality film that is a hit as soon as it is released
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has incredible quality and is a common thread in anime’s stories. Sunghoo Park, studio MAPPA created the visuals. Jujutsu Kaisen’s universe is notoriously violent. MAPPA has found a happy medium. The fights are fluid and stylish thanks to the animation and the use of color.
For the softer scenes, MAPPA focused on little details like close-ups of the faces or music signed by Hiroaki Takumi and Alisa Okehazama. Panda and Gojo Satoru add humor to the film’s pace, preventing it from becoming too fast-paced.
4) An Emotional Story
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a world full of fighting, curses, and monsters. This animated film is top-notch, and it also has one of the most touching stories about guilt and grief I have ever seen.
Instead of focusing on the “teen with enormous power” trope that is so common in many shonen, Jujutsu Kaisen presents a story about a teenager dealing with a childhood tragedy.
Yuta Okkotsu feels guilt, grief and loneliness after Rika, his childhood friend, dies. Rika, instead of leaving the world, becomes a cursed spirit that latches onto Yuta and protects him from all danger, often in violent ways.
The search to exorcize Rika leads to an inner reflection about his grief and the transformation it made, even though he fled from it.
