17. Naomi Misora

Naomi Misora is Raye Penber’s wife. Also, she decided to make her own investigation and bring it to L’s attention. She noticed that Kira couldn’t kill his victims by heart failure.
This was based on the information she received from her fiance. However, the information wasn’t complete. If Penber had told Misora who he was spying on during the bus-theft, she might have been able to piece together the pieces and figure out that Light Yagami is Kira.

16. Namikawa

In Death Note, Reiji Namikawa is the director of Yotsuba’s Sales department. He is also part of Yotsuba’s “Meetings of Death”.
One of Namikawa’s best traits is his intelligence. He is extremely knowledgeable.
In one instance, the actor is able to fool Light Yagami (who played L) to reveal the fact that Kyosuke Higuchi was the main person of Kira’s investigation.

15. Shinigami King

Although often ignored, the Shinigami King is the supreme authority and reason anime was created.
The Shinigami realm’s king produces Death Notes, or receives a fixed supply that he circulates among the Shinigami.
While the Shinigami may not have direct control over his Death Note activities, the king writes the Death Note rules and eventually becomes the puppeteer of the entire series.
14. Gelus

He is the one who used to tell us that Shinigami can ‘die’ and ‘fall in Love’.
Gelus is a Death Note holder. He uses it to prolong a person’s life after saving Misa from a killer because he fell in love with her.
Gelus was responsible for the entire Misa arc, and his Death Note fell into Rem’s hands.
We were also shown that Shinigami can honor another Shinigami’s dying wish by Rem taking the Death Note, and Misa is able to help after Gelus’s passing.
13. Stephen Gevanni

Gevanni is included on this list because he is likely the only one who has been a pop-culture icon.
Due to his ability to make an exact copy of Teru Mikami’s Death Note in one night, anyone who does a lot in a short time span is called ‘Gevanni’.
This guy has a lot of skills, including lock-picking and shadowing people. He also excels at investigation.
Although Stephen Gevanni was a minor part of the series, he made an impact.
12. Watari

Watari is one of the least problematic characters in the series. He does everything L asks him without hesitation.
He is a refreshing oasis of simplicity that serves as a saving grace in this very heavy series, where everyone has plans.
Watari is a simple man who cares only about getting L what he desires, from pastries and tea to his favorite pastries.
For a long time, he is the only one who can talk to L or see L in person.

11. Soichiro Yagami

This is the identity that he was able to gain throughout the series.
It might not look like it, but Soichiro appears to have had a significant influence on his son. Light inherits from his father his motto “Justice first, Family later”.
He is a man who believes in justice and has a strong sense of duty as a police officer.
Soichiro had to keep this delicate line of duty and family in check as L had suspicions about Light being Kira.
He chose his duty over his son, putting him in a position where he would choose the father over the police officer.

10. Touta Matsuda

Young detective, impulsive and with temper issues.
Touta Matsuda, a great asset in the area of infiltration.
Although he recognizes his weakness, he is an ardent risk-taker. This strand of duty as an officer in police was the only thing that kept him from being involved in the investigation.
He considers himself less than other people and attempts to be useful by trying to save someone else’s life. This furthers the belief of his superiors that he is naive, rash, and emotionally driven.
9. Rem

It was the Shinigami that introduced us to completely different aspects of Shinigami.
Ryuk, a character that is important throughout the series, doesn’t put any effort aside from giving his Death Note to other characters.
Rem, on the other side, makes the ultimate sacrifice for Shinigamis. He extends someone’s life rather than shortening it. This leads to Rem being dissolved into a sand-ish or dusty substance.
Due to her efforts to protect Misa, the loving side of Shinigami could be captured.
8. Kiyomi Takada

Kiyomi Takada is better known as Kira’s spokesperson for News 6 or as Light Yagami’s girlfriend.
Also, Kiyomi was proud, refined, and very attractive. This led her to believe Misa Amane wasn’t fit for Light.
This created a kind of rivalry among the characters over Light.
Kiyomi stole the show with her participation as the ‘Goddess for the New World’, and her response of increasing her respect for Light now that she is Kira.
7. Mello

Mello is one of L. Wammy’s successors.
Mello is the most tunnel-visioned, direction-oriented person in the series. He wants to defeat Near. No matter what method he uses, he will always be the best.
Mello is the only person in this series that isn’t acting for justice’s sake, but to achieve his own goals. This is admirable.
6. Teru Mikami

Teru Mikami is often outspoken and a strict follower of his schedule. He believes in the power of habits and is an unafraid Kira devout.
He was clearly rewarded by becoming Kira and receiving a death note.
Teru expressed his opinion on Kira on different TV platforms, without caring about its controversial nature.
He was certainly someone who deserved more than he got.
5. Near

The winner will actually take the victory and support this whole secret of Light, Kira, and L.
A lot of the time, you will see him playing with puzzles and toys, making huge towers from them, falling them, and reassembling them.
Near is an extremely subjective person who doesn’t believe there is a greater right than a greater harm and that everyone should determine what is right and wrong.
He is not opposed to using loopholes in laws, as long as the results are the most important thing.

4. Misa Amane

Misa is the one who gave her whole life for Kira.
Light is the antagonist and he uses Misa to make ends meet. He just dumps her like scrap.
Misa, despite all these facts, let herself be used. She was content just to be able to stand beside Light.
Kira’s devotion to God led to her heartbreaking separation from him. However, she has left a lasting impression on everyone by being one of the few characters who is pure in this series where everyone lies to everyone else.
3. Ryuk

Light’s Shinigami resident…
Ryuk remained neutral towards Light and the entire situation with Kira.
Ryuk was probably the one who got the taste for victory in the end. He was the one who was entertained throughout the whole ordeal of mass killings, people figuring out each other’s secret identities and the web of manipulating one another.
2. Light Yagami

I just want you to know that I would flee from any charming anime villain who promised me the best. Without hesitation.
Does that sound familiar?
Light is one of those people most people would give up on.
The light will make you see the man you desire in him. It will be too late by the time you realize the truth.
Light Yagami is manipulative and controlling. He was the antagonist for a lot of the series.
1. Lawliet (L)

Every aspect of him is out of the ordinary. From the way that he holds his phone to the fact that he knows Kira’s name, Lawliet L. is a genius and eats a lot of sweets and tea.
This anime’s popularity was due to the L and Light dynamic.
L provided a totally different type of competitive edge to the show.
Light is the perfect straight A’s student, while L is the flawed, whimsical straight A’s student.
L won this aspect over everyone else.
Who Are Death Note Main Characters ?
Light Yagami

The protagonist of the series also ends up being its most compelling Death Note character by a mile, with the transformation of the honor student Light Yagami into the serial killer with a god-complex who goes by the moniker of Kira being a highly interesting one indeed.
However, it’s the manner in which Light manipulates everyone and everything around him that makes him all the more interesting to watch. While his web of lies is ultimately unraveled by the end, the journey is still highly compelling in every sense of the word.
L

The world’s greatest detective is also one of the best characters in anime history, and one need only look at L’s quirky mannerisms and eccentric personality to understand why this is the case. His whole being, including his background as an orphan and his anti-social personality, is created as a foil to that of the handsome and popular Light.
However, L is more than just his analytic side. He ends up forming a genuine bond with Light and even considers him to be his one true friend, which is what makes his final moments all the more tragic.
Near

While Near might also be a rather uninspired Death Note character, with his entire personality being completely ripped from his predecessor, there’s no denying the fact that he’s still leagues ahead of Mello. There are some places where the audience sees some positive development, as subtle as it is.
The fact that Near has absolutely nothing unique associated with his persona certainly takes the quality of his character down a notch. And the exaggerated quirks he has of twirling his hair and peering suspiciously at everything is just annoying.
